Just the body alone with the above options is over $9,000.

The all steel Brookville body sits on top of a custom 1932 Highboy Pete & Jake’s frame with the following options:

-          - 32 Highboy Rails, Hairpins, Custom front rail with dust shield

-          - Complete Super Bell 4-Bar Front End with Wide Super Bell Drop Axle and disc brake kit

-          - Stainless brake line kit run inside the rails

-          - Vega steering plate and box

-          - C-notched, Bobbed and Tapered rear

-          - Ladder bar with buggy spring

Motor is a 2002 GM 350 V8 Vortec roller motor backed by a 621 bellhousing and a Muncie 3 speed transmission that was completely rebuilt by Danny Nelson with custom shifter and Ford V8 shift knob.  Fauxsmobile Valve Covers, Edelbrock aluminum intake topped with a Cadillac air breather and HEI distributor.  All new accessories and brackets.  Engine is cooled by a custom Walker radiator with electric fan and exhaust exits through Hedman headers and custom lake pipe exhaust with built in baffling which sounds awesome.   Fuel is fed from a custom in-trunk fuel tank with electric fuel pump.

Wheels and tires were bought direct from Coker Tire and are 5.60-15 Coker Classics w/ 2.75” whitewall tires wrapped on the front 15” x 5” steelies and L78-15 Coker Classics w/ 3” whitewall tires wrapped on the rear 15” x 8” steelies.

Interior is a completely custom interior with all custom upholstery on a Glide Engineering contoured roadster reclining seat frame with flip up option (http://www.glideengineering.com/coupe,roadster.html). Hand stitched door panels, and retractable iron rail form fitted top.  Custom Honest Charlie’s polished steering column with a gorgeous Lecarra 1940 Ford wheel.  Complete EZ Wiring harness from front to rear.

This roadster was hand built in 2007 and titled in 2009 (clear NC title) Since completion the roadster has less than 300 miles on it.  Odometer reads 266 miles plus a few trips before hooking up the gauges.  Roadster starts right up on first crank and idles perfect.   This lightweight roadster is super dependable and very, very quick.

Prefer to sell outright but would entertain partial trades plus cash.  I’m sure there are a lot of things left out as this was built with every nut and bolt brand new.  This car was built right with all top of the line parts (have almost all receipts kept in a binder…over 35K just in parts alone).  If interested please do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Ford ready to install GE Wattstations at 60 locations in North America

Thu, Mar 20 2014

Upper-level Ford executives are sending mixed messages about the power of plug-in vehicles, but in the companies parking lots across North America, at least, the signal is clear: come on and charge your EV. Today, Ford and GE announced that the Blue Oval will be installing Wattstation chargers at its Dearborn HQ and will then add units at more than 60 locations across the US and Canada, including "offices, product development campuses and manufacturing facilities." If you're a Ford employee, then you get four hours of free charging a day. That should be plenty to top off any of the company's plug-in vehicles, even the Focus Electric, and the time limit encourages drivers to swap cars at lunch, because Ford wants to encourage charging station sharing and get more employees to plug in. Ford doesn't mention the DOE's Workplace Charging Challenge by name in the release (available below), but we suspect these Wattstations are part of that project. Ford was one of the founding members, joining the Workplace Charging Challenge on January 31, 2013. On that date, the Ford Motor Company and Ford dealers had over 1,750 charging stations installed on company/dealer property. Ford, GE WattStation Chargers Support Employee Electric Vehicle Charging Network Ford to install its first employee electric vehicle charging station network in Dearborn, Mich.; facilities across the United States and Canada to follow Ford will work with GE as its network provider and supplier of electric vehicle charging stations; networked stations will help Ford understand charging usage and plan for future installations Ford electrified vehicles have logged an estimated 65 million electric miles over the last 18 months. Ford now offers six electrified vehicles, including Focus Electric, C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrids, and C-MAX and Fusion hybrid vehicles Ford Motor Company in conjunction with GE, will supply vehicle charging stations at Ford facilities nationwide, beginning with facilities in and around its headquarters. The announcement continues the innovative cooperation begun more than 100 years ago between Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, co-founder of GE. This month, Ford will begin installing GE WattStation™ charging stations across its North American campuses, developing a workplace charging network at nearly every Ford facility in the United States and Canada.

Ford hybrid sales rebound following MPG controversy

Sun, 31 Aug 2014

Ford hybrid customers apparently have very short memories. With two EPA fuel economy reratings in the last year, sales of the C-Max, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ haven't been too terribly dented, Ward's Auto reports.
All three vehicles saw sales dips following the August 2013 rerating, although sales of the MKZ Hybrid had begun to rebound as early as November of that year. C-Max sales, meanwhile, took slightly longer, with sales on a steadily improving course as early as February of this year.
The second rerating, in June of this year, has had an even smaller effect on the Blue Oval's hybrids. The C-Max has actually been subject to a sales increase, while both the MKZ and Fusion saw minor sales drops (less than 400 units between the two in the month following the rerating).

Junkyard Gem: 1973 Mercury Marquis Brougham 4-Door Pillared Hardtop

Tue, Nov 7 2023

Ford's Mercury Division debuted the Marquis in the 1967 model year, as a sporty coupe based on a stretched Ford LTD chassis. When the LTD got an update for 1969, so did the Marquis, and production of that generation of the top-of-the-line Mercury continued through 1978 (the Grand Marquis hit streets the following year). The 1969-1978 Marquis was a big, imposing land yacht, and the Brougham version came absolutely loaded with affordable luxury. Today's Junkyard Gem is a Marquis Brougham from the first year of the Malaise Era, found in a Phoenix self-service car graveyard recently. This car appears to have spent decades sitting outdoors in one of the harshest climates in the country, and so it's in rough shape. The vinyl top received the full thermonuclear treatment and is mostly obliterated by now. The interior got thoroughly cooked as well. Still, its original opulence shines through if you use some imagination. What hurts is that this car was packed with most of the good options, including the mighty 460-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor. The price for the 460 was just $76 in this car, or around $548 in today's money. The base engine was a 429 (7.0-liter). Power numbers were way down for 1973 when compared to a couple of years earlier, partly as the result of tightening emissions standards but mostly due to the switch from gross to net power ratings that began midway during 1971 and was completed by the end of 1972. This engine was rated at 202 horsepower and 330 pound-feet. The only transmission available was a three-speed automatic. We can assume that the original buyer of this car and its single-digit fuel economy had a rough time when the OPEC oil embargo hit in the fall of 1973. Believe it or not, air conditioning was not standard equipment on the '73 Marquis Brougham (you had to move up to a Lincoln for that). This one even has the automatic temperature control feature, adding a total of $508 to the cost of this car (about $3,661 in 2023 dollars). That AM/FM/8-track radio—or, in fact, any radio—was an extra-cost option as well, with a price tag of $363 ($2,616 after inflation). The MSRP for the 1973 Marquis Brougham sedan (known as a "pillared hardtop" thanks to the frameless window glass) was $5,072, which comes to $36,555 in today's dollars. Obviously, its out-the-door cost would have been much higher with all the options.
