"El Lay Mae"

"Moldy Marvin's"  T&A

This old girl has some history and a story to tell.. Currently Registered in the State of California (on a non op)

Back in 2001 I found El Lay Mae at the  L.A. Roadster Show, She was sitting all by herself in a corner at the swap meet.

I got her from dry lakes king  Joe Moreno

Here is a snap of her once I got her home.r once I got her home.

This is what she looked like after I had taken off all of the stickers and cleaned her up real good.

That there is the infamous John Parker cuttin' it up with the camera... The guy in the hat is the well known auto artist Kent Bash who included  El Lay Mae and I in one of his paintings.

This painting has been published in several magazine articles about Kent.

John, Richard, & George usin' the El Lay Mae's trunk fer a dinner table. Bob's Big Boy 2001

So What the heck is she anyway ?  Well she's got 1928 Rails, Truck Bed and 4 banger Mill... The Fiberglas 23 T bucket  was put on her sometime in the early 60's cuz it's all hand laid ... the side pipes are active and serve two purposes (1) to  make a bunch of noise and (2) to serve as nerf bars and extra support for that old t bucket...... The Brakes are Mechanical and she tops out between 45 and 50 MPH...

In 2002 she won her first award at the Jewel City Kiwanis Car Show

The Award is for First Place Special Interest.

All Awards go with the Sale of El Lay Mae

2002 was also the first year that I started Racing El Lay Mae in the Antique Nationals .

Me and a Buddy of Mine Flintstone had a running bet of $ 1.00 every year when we raced side by side.

His car was very much like El Lay Mae and he called his car Ebay Elly

Flintstone Beat me every year that is until 2004.

All Awards go with the Sale of El Lay Mae

2004 EL Lay Mae and I in the winners circle Antique Nationals.

She was the slowest Car on the track at 25.5 seconds. In our last eliminations we went up against a beautiful 14 second board track racer worth about $ 40,000.0, El Lay Mae was so consistent that day and  we took Jim Macnair Award 1st Place in the 4 Banger Class!

I Love Bracket Racing!

El Lay Mae Loves to go to El Mirage

El Lay Mae, myself and Joaquin Arnett of the Bean Bandits

In the summer of 2004 we shot this Desert Drag Race Segment. You can watch the segment about 5 minutes into the movie.

EL Lay Mae and Flintston's Ebay Elly.

El Lay Mae played the part of "Old Timer" (Voice by Alex Xydias) which was the first car in the movie to be interviewed.

The Movie Tales of the Ratfink took 6 years to produce, I worked on the film as a consultant to Ron Mann.

The Film can now be viewed on Hulu Just click the Hulu button below and enjoy the show!

El Lay Mae Today

Back in 2007 I swapped out El Lay Mae's mill with a 1930 4 banger because her original mill main seal went along with the babbit.

The 1930 Mill still runs but it too now needs Babbit too so I haven't driven her for awhile now.

EL Lay Mae's Original Mill Comes with the Sale

I recently acquired this 1929 Mill with a B performance police head.

This Mill comes with the Sale also.

I started Cleaning it up because it is in pretty good condition.

The Babbit is in great shape.

The concept was to take apart this most recent Mill tear it down and rebuild El Lay Mae's original Mill with the parts.

Other Fotos of El Lay Mae
Even though El Lay Mae might need a little TLC today, she has been very good to me for many years now. She is a keeper for sure and as much as I would like to hang on to her I really need to sell her cuz I need the $$$!

I'm really hoping that her new owner will feel the same way and treat her good for many more years of enjoyment!

El Lay Mae includes, all of her Awards and 2 additional 4 banger donor engines pictured above along with her tow bar and Truck Bed Side Panels.

El Lay Mae is truly part of California's Gold!

Check out Ford's fully automated self-parking car [w/video]

Wed, 09 Oct 2013

As automakers continue to find uses for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicle technology, Ford of Europe has announced that it is developing a self-parking system for future use. More advanced than the Active Park Assist already offered in many Ford products, the new Fully Assisted Parking Aid can take full control of the vehicle and can navigate angled and perpendicular parking spots.
While today's Active Park Assist can only parallel park with the driver controlling the gas, brake and gear selection, Fully Assisted Parking Aid can operate steering, gas, brake and gear selection all while making sure the car is properly parked in the intended space. As with APA, the driver pushes a button to make the car look for a proper spot (at speeds of up to 18 miles per hour), and when an adequate space is located, the operator pushes another button (either inside the car or outside via remote control) for the car to park itself - the button must be pressed throughout the whole parking maneuver. Even though Ford says that the car can effect gear selections on its own, the system must still start from Neutral, and the automaker isn't saying whether the car can put itself into Park when done or put itself in Drive when the operator is ready to go.
Ford is also taking the opportunity to announce its new Obstacle Avoidance technology. This automated system is able to detect objects - including pedestrians - in the road, warn drivers of said objects and, if needed, stop and steer automatically to avoid hitting the obstacle. Both systems are still in the prototype phase, so there is no word as to when we could see either on a production vehicle.

Ford Mustang SVT caught looking fierce on the 'Ring

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

The next-generation Ford Mustang SVT is one of the most anticipated performance cars of the moment. We've already seen it testing multiple times, but it has always been covered is some very heavy camouflage. However, Ford has just given us our best view yet of the new muscle car. According to our spy photographer, the Mustang was at the Nürburgring for high-speed testing, which meant that the Blue Oval had to remove most of the heavy obfuscation that the SVT has worn previously.
The stylish, more revealing camo makes picking out some of the more interesting details about the SVT rather easy. Starting from the front, there is the big hood scoop to feed cold air to its still mysterious engine. You can also immediately make out the model's new grille and lower front air dam. It has a vertical piece running from the bottom of the hood all the way to the ground. The aggressive styling almost gives the 'Stang the look of two fangs ready to bite down. The hood seam is even taped off here, which shows us its outline.
Around the side, it appears that the front and rear fenders are wider than stock, and the sills are certainly much larger. You can also just make out the SVT's bigger brakes behind its black wheels with a polished lip. Finally, at the rear, things appear mostly stock other than the diffuser that the exhaust outlets nestle into.

2015 Ford Mustang revs it up at Cars & Coffee

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Just because the new 2015 Ford Mustang has officially been released, you didn't think that would be the end of the matter - did you? Of course not. There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Scroll on down to watch the footage for yourself.
