1967 Ford Ltd Hardtop on 2040-cars
Glenwood, Iowa, United States
This is a true survivor car with only 57,745 miles believed to be actual. The car runs and drives fantastic and the ride is incredible.
Body: This is a 4-door Hardtop (see pics). The body is in excellent condition with no signs of rust in any areas including the floor. There are no signs of any previous rust repair but the front fenders and hood appear to have been repainted some time ago. There are minor dings and chips consistent with the age but by no means major. There is one area of the roof that the original paint has been partially rubbed through (see pics) Interior: The interior is extremely nice with no tears in the seats or headliner. The door panels are in excellent condition as is the carpet. The front seat is 6-way power and the padding is firm. All interior lights work including the door panel lighting. The dash pad has one crack in the center and an area in the speaker grill that is cracked. These cracks are repairable. The rest of the dash is in excellent condition. The steering wheel is clear and has minor separation in a couple of areas. The trunk carpet is in place and is in good condition. Drivetrain: The 390 cubic inch engine runs excellent and achieves nearly 19 mpg based mileage taken on two trips this summer. The automatic transmission has been rebuilt and it shifts smoothly through the gears. The exhaust system is in good condition and there are no major leaks from the engine or transmission. The car goes down the road straight and the brakes are excellent. The car rides on (4) new radials and the shocks have recently been replaced with new. This car was driven to a show in Springfield MO this last spring as well as to Sioux Falls South Dakota in the heat of the summer. It performed flawlessly on both trips and it is truly a pleasure to drive. I am selling to make room for more toys. Just as I was when I was young, I play with toys for awhile then move on to a new ones. It would be shame not to have someone driving and enjoying this vehicle. |

Performance cars driving sales gains
Wed, Jun 3 2015We're living in a fantastic time for performance cars. For drivers, there are a bevy of exciting models either already here or on the way that cater to different demographics within the niche, like the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 and Dodge's Hellcat-powered products. While trucks and crossovers still offer a booming market at the moment, sporty vehicles are another way for automakers to make some cash, too. According to Ford Performance director Dave Pericak speaking to Automotive News, "Performance vehicle sales around the world continue to grow – with sales up 70 percent in the United States and 14 percent in Europe since 2009." Automakers love this popularity because the sporty models create a perfect storm to make big money on each sale. One reason for the strong margins is that performance vehicles are generally based on existing models or platforms. That keeps development costs lower and allows for a focus on tech like turbocharging or light-weighting to subsidize investments for future products. When it comes time to arrive in the showroom, automakers can load them with equipment, according to Automotive News. With transaction prices already growing thanks to longer loans, buyers have been willing to pay more as of late, as well. The customers in the segment also tend to be younger and more affluent. For example, 30 percent of customers for Ford's ST models have a household income over $100,000 and Millennials buy them twice as much as other products from the brand, according to Automotive News. Despite popular myths, young people still like to drive, which could mean possible return customers. The performance trend certainly isn't on the wane yet. In fact, vehicles like the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Focus RS and Fiat 124 Spider show more fun is on the way. Ford's China sales keep falling, down 30% in third quarter
Fri, Oct 11 2019BEIJING — Ford's July-to-September vehicle sales in China fell 30%, as the U.S. automaker continued to lose ground in a prolonged sales decline in its second biggest market. The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker delivered 131,060 vehicles in China in the third quarter, Ford said in a statement. Ford's sales in China fell 35.8% in the first quarter and by 21.7% in the second quarter. In the third quarter, sales of the automaker's mass-market Ford brand fell 37.7%, while its luxury division Lincoln saw sales drop by 24.1%. It delivered around 421,000 vehicles in the first nine months of the year, according to Reuters calculations. Ford has been struggling to revive sales in China after its business began slumping in late 2017. Sales sank 37 percent in 2018, after a 6 percent decline in 2017. The automaker plans to launch more than 30 new models in China over the next three years, of which more than a third will be electric vehicles. It also said it would localize management teams by hiring more Chinese staff and aimed to improve relationships with joint venture partners. Ford has launched a series of new models in the third quarter in China, including Focus, Edge, and the electric Territory. In China, Ford makes cars through its joint venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co and Jiangling Motors. It has said it would partner with Zotye Automobile Co to sell lower-priced cars, but there seems to have been little progress. In a series of moves, Ford named a new president for its main local venture, Changan Ford, in August and said it would enhance its partnership with Changan through research, production and marketing cooperation in September. Ford is also planning to revamp some of its existing manufacturing facilities with Changan to localize production of its premium brand Lincoln. Changan Ford's sales down by around 33.5% in the third quarter, according to Reuters calculations based on Changan's filings. Ford rival General Motors' July-to-September vehicle sales in China fell 17.5%, to 689,531 vehicles. As GM and Ford China sales extend declines, U.S. car companies' market share of total China passenger vehicle sales fell to 9.5% in the first eight months of this year, from 10.7% in the year-ago period, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). Over the same period, German carmakers' share has risen to 23.8% from 21.6%, and Japanese automakers' share rose to 21.7% from 18.3%.
