This car is in GREAT condition for it's age and for never having been restored.  It was last driven to a car show in 2003 and parked in heated underground storage since.  This car does not currently run, but could easily be fired up with the freshening up of the fuel system, clean out the old gas, remove varnish and possibly rebuild the carb.  We have not tried to fire this motor because we don't want to damage it.  A true collector may want to have this motor examined and/or preserved so we elected to leave it in it's current state.

Overall this car looks great, it's got blemishes - some of the chrome is pitting or scuffed in spots, and the paint is a little dull and checkered from age.  The electrical works well, the horn works, dome light works, turn signals and high/low beams all work.  The wipers seem to be having a problem as well as the original AM radio, you can hear the radio power up and the speakers click on, but you cannot get any reception or static from it. The underside of this car shows little to no rust.  There are a couple of rust bubble on the body, but not much at all to speak of.  It still has the original jack and spare tire in the trunk.  This car could be put in a museum as it, completely restored, or just made to drive and be proud of it's "patina"

We also have 3, ten minute HD videos of this car in detail on YouTube, complete walk-around, inside and out, all electrical functions, etc..  Just ask and we can send you the URL links.   There will be no disappointments or surprises with this car.  It's a rare find in this condition!

Good luck and thanks for looking!

Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.

Ford hiring 2,200 salaried US workers this year

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

With its influx of popular new products made in the US, Ford Motor Company has announced that it intends to hire 2,200 new salaried workers domestically this year. This is the biggest increase of salaried workers for Ford in the last 10 years, and it is all a part of Ford's contract commitment to the United Auto Workers union to bring 12,000 new jobs to the US by 2015.
There were no specifics as to where in the US these job openings will be, but Ford did reiterate that it will be spending $773 million on equipment upgrades and capacity expansion at six plants located in southeast Michigan; as a whole, Ford is investing a total of $6.2 billion to its US assembly plants over the next couple years. According to recently appointed president of the Americas Joe Hinrichs, the new jobs will be focused on areas such as engineering, manufacturing and computer software. Ford will post its job openings online at careers.ford.com, and it will also use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to recruit new workers, including military veterans.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
