On offer here is a beautiful, unrestored 1963 1/2 Falcon Sprint with a documented 31,721 miles on the odometer. This first year Falcon was launched in 1963 1/2 to showcase Ford's new Fairlane "Challenger" 260 which boasted an impressive 164 horsepower. These cars were produced in extremely limited quantity with only 10,479 produced and very few remaining today, especially in the unrestored state that this one is in.

This is a factory original Sprint car as indicated by the following features:

"F" code 260ci V8 engine with factory chrome oil filler cap, chrome valve covers with no oil fill holes, and extremely rare ORIGINAL chrome "double hump" air cleaner.

The letters "F-A-L-C-O-N" on the rear tail panel. Futura hardtops had the letters "F-U-T-U-R-A" on the rear tail panel. You will see in coming pictures that the rear panel on this car has never been redrilled as is common practice with people making fake Sprints.

The chrome side trim is un-painted in the ribbed section. Futura cars had the ribbed area of the side trim painted from the factory.

Chrome interior windshield trim.

Bucket seats and center console.

"Falcon Sprint" horn ring with original recessed Sprint ensignia and wood-grain look steering wheel.

"Sprint" badge on glovebox door trim.

Non-padded dash with no trim holes for dash pad trim.

"SPRINT" badge on front fender.

"Sprint" "V8" badges on front fender. Futura cars with V8's got a "260 V8" badge.

"Sprint" badge on rear pillar. Futura hardtops had a "Futura" badge.

Factory Ford Chrome Wire Hubcaps. Futura cars had red, white, and blue stamped alloy hubcaps.

Dash mounted tachometer. The tachometer in the car now is not the factory tachometer but I have the factory mount for it. The factory tachometers are readily available if you decide to replace it.

This car is an EXCEPTIONALLY ORIGINAL car. and has been well taken care of its entire life. The car has had very little changed or replaced since it left the factory.  The car has one older repaint in its factory color or Rangoon Red, one of the most desirable colors FoMoCo ever produced.

The underside of the hood, door jams, underside of trunk lid, and inside of trunk still wear all original paint. Picture below is of an original underhood paint inspection stamping.

The radiator and water pump were recently replaced, however the ORIGINAL radiator and ORIGINAL water pump do come with the car upon its sale!  The car runs cool and has NO LEAKS whatsoever.

Shocks and tires were replaced approximately 10 years ago. The tires are still in as new condition and even still have the nubs on them. No dry rotting or cracking.

The car recently received a set of 4 correct and near NOS Original FoMoCo Chrome Wire hub caps. These are what originally came on the car and it was not cheap to obtain a set this nice.

This car drives EXTREMELY well. There are no rattles or squeaks going down the road and no smoke from the exhaust. The car drives and stops straight and the doors shut like only an unrestored car's doors could shut! Overall, the car runs and drives like a car that has 31,000 original miles.

Editors’ Picks October 2022 | Electric trucks and some excellent SUVs

Wed, Nov 2 2022

This month sees a bevy of totally new or totally redesigned cars gain Editors’ Pick status. Important EVs like the F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV quickly jump into the list, and they do so with authority, as all our editors love these trucks. The Range Rover is always a superb experience, and this generation proves to be no different. Plus, the new generation of Kia Sportage continues to surprise and impress. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in October that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 GMC Hummer EV The Four-Wheel-Steer system lets the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup m View 17 Photos Quick take: The Hummer amazes as an electric supertruck with its wild acceleration, incredible off-road capability, luxuriousness and epic utility. It's far from a "green" eco-friendly vehicle, but that's not the point of this technological powerhouse. Score: 8.5 What it competes with: Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Raptor R, Ram 1500 TRX Pros: Stupid quick, tons of tech, off-road capability in spades Cons: Not efficient, annoying in tight spaces, price From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "I don't think I've driven a more ridiculous vehicle this year, but that's sort of the point with the Hummer. There's a great argument against this sort of EV in that it doesn't live up to being an efficient and planet-friendly vehicle, but hey, that's not the point. The Hummer EV is a supertruck and wild technological masterpiece for off-roading in the same way that a mid-engine supercar is to track performance. It's not meant to be the EV everybody drives to work and back (mostly because few can afford it), but it serves as a line in the sand of what can be done with electric off-road trucks. This pickup rules, and if you can afford one, you're going to love it." Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder — "This Hummer revival is a showcase of technology and capability on the part of GM, making it an absolute blast to drive and a joy to use.

2014 Ford Fusion order guide reveals new base Hybrid model, equipment changes

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

We've gotten our grubby little digits on the dealer order guide for the as-yet-unreleased 2014 Ford Fusion thanks to an anonymous tipster, and while there isn't much that's unexpected, there are some meaningful equipment changes to report after the rakish sedan's first year on the market.
Mechanically, the big news is, of course, the recently confirmed availability of the 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder paired with a six-speed automatic. The powertrain replaces the 1.6-liter automatic setup of 2013, though if you want a manual transmission, you'll still get the extra .1-liter of displacement.
On the equipment front, there are newly available rear inflatable seatbelts - as seen previously on the Explorer - along with a new heated steering wheel and cooled seat option on Titanium and Titanium Hybrid models (the latter two options will be late availability).

NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
