This is a factory original Sprint car as indicated by the following features:

  • "F" code 260ci V8 engine with factory chrome oil filler cap, chrome valve covers with no oil fill holes, and extremely rare and desirable chrome "double hump" air cleaner.
  • The letters "F-A-L-C-O-N" on the rear tail panel. Futura hardtops had the letters "F-U-T-U-R-A" on the rear tail panel.
  • The chrome side trim is un-painted in the ribbed section. Futura cars had the ribbed area of the side trim painted from the factory.
  • Chrome interior windshield trim.
  • Bucket seats and center console.
  • "Falcon Sprint" horn ring and wood-grain look steering wheel.
  • "Sprint" badge on glovebox door trim.
  • Non-padded dash with no trim holes for dash pad trim.
  • "SPRINT" badge on front fender.
  • "V8" badge on front fender. Futura cars with V8's got a "260 V8" badge.
  • "Sprint" badge on rear pillar. Futura hardtops had a "Futura" badge.
  • Dash mounted tachometer. The tachometer in the car now is not the factory tachometer but I have the factory mount for it. The factory tachometers are readily available if you decide to replace it.

This is an exceptionally original and well cared for Falcon Sprint. Very little has been changed or replaced since it left the factory.

  • It has one older repaint in it's original color of Rangoon Red. The underside of the hood and trunk lid as well as the door jams still wear the original factory paint.
  • The entire interior including the carpet appears to be original.
  • All the glass including the windshield is original and free of cracks and de-lamination.
  • The radiator and water pump were recently replaced but the original correctly date coded radiator and water pump are included with the car. Car runs cool and is leak free.
  • Battery and voltage regulator were recently replaced as well. The charging system is in full working order. Fuel gauge and speedometer are in correct working order as well.
  • Shocks and tires replaced approximately 10 years ago. Tires are still like new and show no signs of dry rot or cracking.
  • Also included with the car are a pair of factory stainless steel fender skirts date coded 1960. Dealer optioned seat belts for the front seats date coded July 1962 are also included.
  • The wheel covers are from a '64 Falcon and are incorrect for the '63. The '63 should have imitation wire wheel covers.

Runs and drives like a 31,000 mile car. Trans shifts smooth and brakes stop straight. Doors shut firmly and all windows function smoothly. No squeaks or rattles driving down the road.

This woman owns the first Ford Mustang sold in the US

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

As Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Mustang with the unveiling of the all-new sixth-gen design, one Chicago women can lay claim to a piece of Mustang history. According to CBS Chicago, Gail Wise was the first person in the US to buy a Mustang in 1964, and she did so two days before the car was even unveiled to the public.
Wise, then a 22-year-old teacher, went into the Chicago Ford dealership wanting to buy a convertible, and a salesperson ushered her over to car covered by a tarp. That car was a baby blue Mustang convertible, which she still owns today - along with the documentation. After sitting for almost 30 years and undergoing a full restoration, the car now looks to be in original condition. The report says that this $3,400 purchase could be worth anywhere between $100,000 and $250,000. While this worked out well for Mrs. Wise, we wouldn't recommend anyone going into a dark, back room of a dealership hoping to get a jump on the purchase of a 2015 Mustang.

Ford recalls 1.48 million F-150s for transmission, plus other models

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Weeks after recalling more than 800,000 F-Series pickup trucks for a fire risk, Ford has issued another separate recall for approximately 1.48 million 2011-2013 F-150s for a transmission fault. The six-speed automatics could unexpectedly downshift into first gear without warning. Ford and Lincoln tangentially issued much smaller recalls for the Mustang, Continental, Nautilus, and Navigator. According to Ford, some 2011-2013 model year F-150 pickups with six-speed automatic transmissions could "experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module." This could potentially cause the trucks to temporarily downshift, which could be dangerous if it occurs while driving. Of the 1.48 million affected trucks, 1.26 million are in the U.S. while 221,000 are in Canada. Thus far, Ford knows of five reported accidents involving the issue. To remedy the problem, owners can take their trucks to dealers to update the power control module software. Ford also issued recalls for about 4,350 2019 Mustangs, Lincoln Nautiluses, and Lincoln Navigators in the U.S. and Canada due to a possible fault with the instrument clusters. Although there have been no reports of accidents, Ford says the instrument panel clusters assemblies might be blank or not turn out when the vehicle is started. Additionally, Ford issued a third recall for 28,200 2017-2019 Lincoln Continentals in the U.S. and Canada. Ford says silicon contamination might build up inside the door latch motor, causing it to malfunction. As a result, the door latch might not always fully engage, and the doors could possibly open unexpectedly. Despite no reports of accidents, Ford will remove and replace door latch assemblies on all doors for those affected by the defect. If any of these apply to a vehicle you own, contact Ford to discuss whether it is included in any of these recalls and have the vehicle checked out at a Ford dealership.

Ford begins testing right-hand-drive Mustang

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

Ford has officially kicked off testing of the right-hand-drive variant of its sixth-generation, 2015 Mustang, according to a statement issued by the company, which came with the above photo.
According to Ford, this will mark the first time a right-hand-drive 'Stang has traveled down the company's assembly line alongside its LHD brethren. It is far from the first of the legendary pony cars to feature its wheel on the wrong side, though, as converters in RHD markets across the globe have been making swaps for years.
Ford is planning on using the white, droptop Mustang for RHD development ahead of the car's arrival in the UK, Australia and South Africa, among other markets. Scroll down for the official press blast.
