1958 Fard Fairlane 500 Sunliner Convertible
We purchased this car 10 years ago and my husband was working on it every spare moment. We have decided to sell the car because my husband was injured last year and just can't get to it anymore with the daily pain he suffers. So let him tell you all that he has done and what will need to finish it.
The engine is a 390 long block that I paid $2700 for. I had the company install the original 1958  352 intake manifold and baldy chrome valve covers. It was started and broke in correctly about 2 months ago. The transmission is a completely rebuilt C6 and the drive shaft is brand new from front to back that we just paid $250 to the local drive line building shop here in Grants Pass Oregon. The new or rebuilt parts on the car include, all glass, convertible top, padded dash with all the stainless trim and the trunk original style checkered floor mat all the top parts including the pump motor, hoses and cylinders are brand new. It has a working original up and down top button, all new upholstery, 4 whitewall tires, 4 core radiator,  rebuilt original radio, heater core, every part and piece of the entire brake system, rebuilt power steering system, every part of the suspension including ball joints, bushings, tie rods, bell crank and all rubber parts throughout the entire car, chrome power brake unit, emergency brake cable, all new brake lines, speedometer cable, battery cables, rechromed front bumper, rechromed back bumper, rechromed grill, recromed hood scoop with brand new scoop insert, brand new gold anodized Fairlane side trim still in boxes, brand new rocker moldings with the hockey stick moldings included, 2 new wide 50s tail pipe tips, steel fender skirts with rubber seals,  original center trunk antenna with new antenna cable to radio, new ignition and two keys,  new inside chrome mirror, new sun visors, new chrome door handles with new chrome pushbuttons, 4 new headlight accessory trim pieces, brand new gas tank and all new gas lines, etc etc. There is absolutely no rust on the car anywhere. The underneath is as nice as the outside body. The paint is about 7 years old and is excellent condition for a daily driver. It would have to be repainted to be showroom condition.  THE CONTINENTAL KIT IS THE ORIGINAL DEALER INSTALLED MODEL WHICH SELLS TODAY AT SWAP MEETS FOR UP TO $3000............
The things it needs to be finished are the mirrors out side, complete exhaust system that was quoted here in town at $325, rechromeing of the tail light bezels, trim around the convertible top and trim on the wing vents, install the used complete automatic shift column that is shown in some of the photos. I have about 1/3 of a gallon of the urethane paint left in the can. The rubber seals for the trunk, the doors and some other rubber has to be installed but it is all included with the car. The windlace is in the car and needs to be stapled in.
I have a clear Oregon title in my name. Highest bidder owns the car.....NO RESERVE!!!!!

Ford recalling 830,000 vehicles to replace side door latches

Thu, Aug 4 2016

The Basics: Ford is conducting a recall for roughly 830,000 models. The affected vehicles include the 2013 to 2015 Ford C-Max, 2012 to 2015 Ford Focus, 2013 to 2015 Ford Escape, 2015 Lincoln MKC, 2015 Ford Mustang, and 2014 to 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The recall is focused primarily in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, California, Arizona, Hawaii, Georgia, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Washington, and Oregon as the problem mostly affects cars in states with warm weather. The Problem: The pawl spring tab in the side door latch in the affected vehicles could break, preventing the door from latching and could even cause the door to open while driving. Injuries/Deaths: There is one reported injury and one reported accident. The Fix: Dealers will replace the affected cars' side door latches. If you own one: Reach out to your local Ford dealer to schedule a service. Ford abandons MyFord Touch, all hail Sync 3 infotainment [w/video]

Thu, Dec 11 2014

MyFord Touch has been among the most widely disdained automotive infotainment systems on the market, practically since its introduction in 2010. Consumer Reports was among the most vocal critics, all but advocating its lynching by an angry mob armed with torches and pitchforks. Not surprisingly, then, after such a critical walloping, Ford has finally decided to say goodbye to the unloved tech, declaring the end of MyFord Touch branding in favor of Sync 3 for its upcoming, all-new system. Ford is promising everything you would expect from Sync 3, including faster response time, better voice-command integration, easier controls and a more useable interface. The screen layout includes fewer items to make them easier to discern, and the icons are made from large, high-contrast buttons. There's also a dedicated tab for apps at the bottom of the screen in addition to those for audio, climate, phone and navigation. Another useful feature is the fact that Sync 3 can download improvements over your home Wi-Fi for easier updates. In addition to the revamped interface, the software running behind the scenes is a big change too. Rather than MyFord Touch's Microsoft-sourced system, Sync 3 uses the Blackberry-owned QNX, according to Automotive News. Such a switch was rumored earlier this year. Drivers still have to live with MyFord Touch a little longer, though. According to Automotive News, Ford said that the change to Sync 3 will happen during the 2016 model year with complete integration into the lineup by the end of the 2016 calendar year. It will come standard on Titanium trim models and as a separate option will be priced in line with the current MyFord Touch. The Sync 3 brand will carry over to Lincoln, too, but with a different look. The gallery above shows a few more looks at the interface, and we invite you to scroll down to watch a video of Sync 3 in action and to read Ford's press release about it, below. Creations n' Chrome Top Notch Mustang is a one-of-a-kind fox

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

Is there a cooler car from the 1980s and early 90s to mod than a Fox-body Ford Mustang? No, there isn't. If you disagree with us, we suggest you have a look at this 1990 Mustang Coupe, which just might change your mind. Although considering just how extensively modified this car - the Top Notch Mustang from Creations n' Chrome - is, we wonder just how much Ford is left in this old pony.
It rides on a custom race tube chassis that weighs a scant 700 pounds, while carbon-fiber bits and bobs help lower the overall curb weight to a mere 2,400 pounds. When paired with supercharged, 5.0-liter, Aluminator V8 from Ford Racing, the results are, doubtlessly, exciting. 855 horsepower at the rear wheels and 667 pound-feet of torque are available from that force-fed V8 should be just plenty for this car's intended purpose of running in standing-mile competitions.
The Top Notch Mustang is more extreme than just weight savings and a big engine, though. That 5.0-liter is essentially in what's known as a front-mid layout - where the engine is actually behind the front axle. In this case, the 5.0-liter V8 is 17 inches further back than a factory Fox-body, for better weight distribution. As a result, the cabin has been completely overhauled. An SLA front suspension, wheels from HRE, Wilwood brakes and Sparco interior items round out the extensive list of mods.
