UP FOR BID IS A 1957 FORD FAIRLANE 500. THIS IS A BARN FIND AND HAS BEEN IN HEATED STORAGE FOR THE LAST 18 YEARS. IT HAS A REBUILT 351 WINDSOR THAT IS MILDLY BUILT WITH A C4 TRANS. THE CAR RUNS GREAT AND HAS BEEN ONLY DRIVEN AROUND IN THE DRIVEWAY. IT WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH TO HAVE IT READY FOR THE ROAD. THE BODY IS PRETTY SOLID FOR ITS AGE BUT WILL NEED A FULL RESTORATION OR DRIVE IT THE WAY IT IS. WOULD DEFINATELY MAKE A GREAT RAT ROD. THE FRAME IS SOLID. THE FLOORS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, BUT HAVE BEEN PATCHED. THE TRUNK AREA WILL NEED TO BE PATCHED IN A COUPLE SPOTS. THE CAR HAS BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR SEATS, BOTH DOOR PANELS AND REAR PANELS. THERE IS CARPET IN THE CAR. THE IS NO HEADLINER BUT DO HAVE THE BOWS FOR IT. THE FRONT FENDERS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE AND ARE FIBERGLASS. WE HAVE PRETTY MUCH ALL THE STAINLESS TRIM FOR THE CAR. THE BUMPERS ARE ON THE CAR BUT WILL NEED RECHROMED. ALL THE GLASS IS ORIGINAL AND IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THE ONLY PIECE THAT ISN'T IS THE DRIVERS DOOR (IT IS CRACKED). HATE TO SEE THIS CAR GO BUT JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME FOR IT ANYMORE. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING.

Ford's BlueCruise gains hands-free lane changes and more in update

Fri, Sep 9 2022

Ford is sending out an update to BlueCruise that will enhance its functionality with some nice features we tend to enjoy on other advanced driver assistance systems. Plus, in addition to BlueCruise getting the update, the Lincoln version named ActiveGlide will get the same update. For starters, both BlueCruise and ActiveGlide will gain hands-free lane changing. Similar to other lane-change assist systems, you’ll prompt the lane change by activating the turn signal. ItÂ’ll scan for traffic, and if all is clear, the vehicle will move into the requested lane. Ford says that itÂ’ll even suggest lane changes to the driver in the cluster as you approach slower-moving traffic. What this new feature doesnÂ’t do, though, are automatic lane changes. Systems like Super Cruise and TeslaÂ’s Autopilot will recognize slower traffic, then make a pass all on their own to move around said traffic — theyÂ’ll even move back over into your previous lane after making the pass. We wouldnÂ’t be surprised if Ford adds this functionality to the system in a future update. Another update in this release is new “In-Lane Repositioning” programming. ItÂ’s designed to recognize when there are vehicles in adjacent lanes and will then shift you further away from them within your lane of travel. Ford says itÂ’s especially helpful when passing semi-trucks, and will give you the usual and more comfortable buffer that a human driver might give a truck. The final update is a Predictive Speed Assist feature that will adjust your speed as you approach a curve. It will signal to the driver in the cluster that the car will slow for a curve, then do so gradually as you approach it. This is the sort of feature we typically like to turn off as soon as possible, since weÂ’d rather just remain at the same speed for curves on the highway. But, if youÂ’re one of those folks who like to slow down for curves on the highway, this will provide a more natural driving feel. Ford says that customers have cumulatively put over 16 million hands-free miles on cars with BlueCruise at this point. This update, simply named 1.2, for BlueCruise and ActiveGlide will see its initial rollout this fall. It will hit the Mustang Mach-E first, and Ford says other vehicles will follow. An in-depth look at the Ford GT with Xcar

Sun, Jul 26 2015

Ford made big waves when it unveiled the new GT at the Detroit Auto Show this past January. But as far as details go, it's been rather quiet. Though Dearborn has revealed what engine will sit between those buttresses, it hasn't told us exactly how many horses or torques it will produce, or precisely how fast we should expect it to propel the new all-American supercar. Fortunately, the automaker let the crew at Xcar into the studio to give us a quick, four-minute rundown of all the information that is out there at the moment, along with all the most intriguing angles of the vehicle's design. The historically savvy among us will already know that the new 2016 Ford GT traces its roots back to the GT40 that conquered Le Mans half a century ago, and through the previous Ford GT that debuted a decade ago. Both of those featured V8 engines (supercharged in the latter case) while their modern successor goes with a twin-turbo V6. But as Xcar points out, six cylinders aren't without their precedence in the history of the GT-series Ford supercar: the GT70 rally car of 1970 originally packed a 2.6-liter V6. That engine was later replaced by a 1.6-liter inline-four, which puts another crack in the theory of the eight's hegemony over the history of the series – as does, we'll point out, the Bugatti-like quad-turbo V12 that featured in the GT90 concept of 1995 that sadly never made production. The point is that divergence from V8 tradition shouldn't dissuade anyone from getting excited over the arrival of the new GT, and we're looking forward to seeing what she can do – on and off the track. Bill Ford wins National Pond Hockey Championship with employees

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Who says executives aren't people? This past weekend, Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, and a group of employees trekked up to Eagle River, WI for a few games of pond hockey. Team Ford took part in the 2014 Labatt Blue/USA Pond Hockey Championship, capturing its fifth title in the 50+ Tier 1 Division.
"It feels great to win," Ford, who plays on the team alongside other Ford employees, told the USA Hockey website. "It was fun to play [River Valley Pioneers] because they're great guys and we play them every year. We finally beat them, which we were due. It was a very clean game, a tough game."
The FoMoCo team managed to score seven goals to River Valley's two, and went undefeated in all five of its games during the tourney. Take a look below for the official press release on Team Ford's win.
