1955 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan. Rust Free Original West Coast Car on 2040-cars
Peoria, Illinois, United States
|
100% original 1955 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan. This is a true survivor that was stored away in 1967. Still has the original 1963 Washington Plates with a '67 sticker. It was sold new at Hays Motor Company in Stanwood, Washington. I have the original invoice dated November 27, 1954. The car is 100% original paint with zero rust. Plenty of wear and tear from the sand and gravel on the roads back then, but no rust through. Floors look great underneath as well. Car was undercoated when new. Cost was $25 for that per the original invoice. Per the widow I purchased this from, the car was last driven about 10 years ago. It has the original 272 with 3 speed manual and overdrive. I have made no attempt to start the car. Motor turns over freely. Brakes are down from sitting so long and will require wheel cylinders I'd assume. Interior is 100% original. Car has had plastic seat covers since new so seats are pretty nice under that. Not perfect, but nice. The stains you can see on the seats are actually on the plastic cover not the seat material. Dash looks great and door panels are good. It is missing 1 rear ash tray.
Known issues are that owner bumped the right front headlight with his mower and broke the headlamp out. Also, the rear inside lip of the deck lid is surface rusted & will need some clean up. The right hinge mount are on underside of trunk is fatigued & will need the crack welded up to get deck lid to fit properly. Driver's door glass has crack and windshield has small rock chip on lower passenger area as shown in photo.
All in all, this is a great, original, honest '55 Fairlane to restore or put back on the road and drive as is. I have a clear Illinois title in my name. This is not a fire sale, and I don't need to sell. If I it doesn't meet reserve, I'll put it in my storage building until I have more time for it. I think the pictures speak for themselves, but e-mail if you have questions. Winning bidder to make $500 non-refundable deposit by PayPal within 24 hrs of auction ending. Balance by bank draft or cash upon pick up. Car will not leave until payment has cleared. Buyer is responsible for transportation costs and arrangements. I can provide contact information for a reasonably priced exporter I have used in the past, but again, all costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. You are welcome to come by and inspect the car prior to auction ending.

Project Ugly Horse: Part V
Mon, 11 Feb 2013The Slippery Slope
I've had a healthy appreciation for cars that stop since one truly unfortunate incident with a runaway 1971 Lincoln Continental.
It's funny how quickly a party can turn from, "We're all having blast" to "What happened to the front of the house, and how many stitches do you think this is going to take?" Standing in a Mustang salvage shop in Kodak, Tennessee, I couldn't help but feel I had strayed into the latter territory with Ugly Horse. There was a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 plucked from a rear-ended Cobra sitting off to my left. The shelves were lined with second-hand Roush and SVT components galore, but I couldn't stop staring at a set of rotors with the approximate diameter of my chest.
Bill Ford wins National Pond Hockey Championship with employees
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Who says executives aren't people? This past weekend, Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, and a group of employees trekked up to Eagle River, WI for a few games of pond hockey. Team Ford took part in the 2014 Labatt Blue/USA Pond Hockey Championship, capturing its fifth title in the 50+ Tier 1 Division.
"It feels great to win," Ford, who plays on the team alongside other Ford employees, told the USA Hockey website. "It was fun to play [River Valley Pioneers] because they're great guys and we play them every year. We finally beat them, which we were due. It was a very clean game, a tough game."
The FoMoCo team managed to score seven goals to River Valley's two, and went undefeated in all five of its games during the tourney. Take a look below for the official press release on Team Ford's win.
