This FX4 is listed as a 2002 but is actually a 2003 model. Many people do not realize that Ford produced a handful of 7.3 Diesel Super Dutys in 2003. I would guess around 10 percent of diesel trucks.

These 7.3L trucks are very popular for 3 reasons. 1. Proven Durability 2. Awesome torque for pulling and hauling 3. Impressive fuel mileage.

Clean Solid truck and has been well cared for.  The truck is a pleasure to drive.  One owner.  Nonsmoker.

MECHANICAL

Engine starts like it should and idles great. (Even on cold days)  Performance is impressive and the truck is in excellent working order.   Blowby same as 100k truck.

The turbo offers very good acceleration when needed.    No dash warning lights illuminated. No modifications.  Synthetic oil used in engine and diligently changed.

AC and heat are good.  A/C system still has insulation cover  (see engine picture).

Transmission is in great condition and operates smoothly.  Supension and steering are tight.  Drives straight and brakes straight.

Drive with one finger at 70 mph.

BODY

The Toreador Red metallic paint looks original.  Still looks glossy and has escaped weathering from sun.   Truck is straight.  There are a few minor hail dents to hood.  A couple minor scratches.  Bed is good and does not have a bed hitch.   This is a Texas truck and rustfree.  Windshield is perfect.  Ford bedliner.  Bumpers, grill, headlights, mirrors, tailgate and accessories are all nice.

To find a nicer 7.3 diesel dually would be difficult.

INTERIOR

The interior is in very good condition. No tears or stains.  Leather near perfect.  Console and dash all perfect.  Power windows are all operational.

Power locks are functional.  Steering wheel is gray leather and almost perfect.  (no need for a funky steering wheel cover)

TIRES / WHEELS

Factory Lariat aluminum wheels in nice condition with Bridgestone highway tires.   50 % tread.

Had a question about the production date.......... It was built in August of 2002 and why it is called a 2003 but has the desireable 2002 engine (7.3 powerstroke).  This truck is rare.

Ford reports 58% drop in Q2 profits on European losses

Wed, 25 Jul 2012

Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday that it has posted a $1 billion profit for the second quarter of 2012. That sounds like good news for the Blue Oval, until you take into account that Ford posted a $2.4 billion profit for Q2 a year ago. That is a substantial 58 percent loss.
Ford also posted $465 million in international losses, with $404 million of those losses coming directly from Europe. The automaker also increased its European loss projections to $1 billion for 2012, due in large part to the economic crisis overseas, which has resulted in increased unemployment and decreased consumer confidence.

eBay Find of the Day: Mk1 Ford GT40 with interesting history

Sat, 03 May 2014

You might expect a rare Ford GT40 to cross the block at some sort of prestigious auto auction from RM or Gooding, not show up on eBay for over $2 million. However, that's exactly what we have here. The seller claims the car is a late-build Mk1 GT40 from 1969, and it's currently owned by the director of the Hublot watch company in Switzerland.
According to the listing, GT40 #P1108 started life as Mk1 car that was built from factory spares in 1969 and was first sold in 1971. However, the auction is somewhat confusing. According to an image in its gallery, the vehicle was actually built from one of the seven spare Mk3 tubs when production of the iconic racers ended.
This GT40 was never built as a racecar - it lived on the streets its whole life. After assembly finished, it was sent to Germany and was eventually registered for the road. The first owner kept the car until 2005 and sold it with 7,300 miles on the odometer. The current owner bought it in 2012.

An in-depth look at the Ford GT with Xcar

Sun, Jul 26 2015

Ford made big waves when it unveiled the new GT at the Detroit Auto Show this past January. But as far as details go, it's been rather quiet. Though Dearborn has revealed what engine will sit between those buttresses, it hasn't told us exactly how many horses or torques it will produce, or precisely how fast we should expect it to propel the new all-American supercar. Fortunately, the automaker let the crew at Xcar into the studio to give us a quick, four-minute rundown of all the information that is out there at the moment, along with all the most intriguing angles of the vehicle's design. The historically savvy among us will already know that the new 2016 Ford GT traces its roots back to the GT40 that conquered Le Mans half a century ago, and through the previous Ford GT that debuted a decade ago. Both of those featured V8 engines (supercharged in the latter case) while their modern successor goes with a twin-turbo V6. But as Xcar points out, six cylinders aren't without their precedence in the history of the GT-series Ford supercar: the GT70 rally car of 1970 originally packed a 2.6-liter V6. That engine was later replaced by a 1.6-liter inline-four, which puts another crack in the theory of the eight's hegemony over the history of the series – as does, we'll point out, the Bugatti-like quad-turbo V12 that featured in the GT90 concept of 1995 that sadly never made production. The point is that divergence from V8 tradition shouldn't dissuade anyone from getting excited over the arrival of the new GT, and we're looking forward to seeing what she can do – on and off the track.
