1985 Ford F-350 Dually Show Truck on 2040-cars

1985 F350 XLT show truck "Tonner"
I have owned this truck since 1997. I bought it
from my neighbor who was the second owner. That neighbor is now my
father-in-law so you could say this truck has been in my family for the past 25+
years! I used this truck to start my landscaping company and "retired" it in
2004. it was in 2005 when I decided to "fix it up" "keep it simple... a paint
job, new tires, fix the exhaust, and a tune-up" LMAO! My "simple fix-up"
turned into a full blown almost 2 year frame off restoration including, but not
limited to: New suspension, shocks, body mounts, rims, tires, engine, clutch,
exhaust, brakes, bed, interior, doors (with power windows and mirrors), hood,
grille, bumpers, body stripped to metal and repainted, electrical system, stereo
and back-up camera, etc etc etc. It would be a much shorter list to tell you
what wasn't replaced.
A VERY long story short after I finished the
truck there was NO WAY I was putting it back into the fleet for work. So what
I ended up with was a garage king. Since late 2006 the only thing this truck
has been used for is going to car shows and hauling home trophies. (YES, it won
every show it has been entered)
A true labor of love went into building this,
and it has taken me almost 3 years to finally admit I must sell it. My wife and
I had our first child in Nov 2009 and I don't have the time anymore to play with
my truck. I've only put maybe 15 miles on it since 2010 and that's just running
up the road to keep it loose. I uncover it and start it up every few months
just to hear that big block roar threw the true dual 3" pipes. Since 2006 it
has been garage kept under a cover.... until Feb 2014 when the building I kept
it in couldn't handle the weight of all the snow and ice this year and the roof
buckled. I got the truck out before anything could happen to it. Unfortunately
that was the only building I have with big enough doors to store this truck in
so now it is parked at my house, in my driveway, under a cover. I am not happy
about it so it really needs to find a new home ASAP.
Its like buying a brand new truck for a FRACTION
of the new truck price.... PLUS this "aint no cookie cutter, off the lot, just
like your neighbors truck"
In Sept 06 I had the truck appraised for
insurance reasons. I tagged it as a Classic in PA and wanted to be covered for
more then the KBB value of an 85 pick-up. It was appraised at $25,000. The
classic plate will go to the new owner if your from PA. With classic
registration you can insure it with the appraisal documentation for the $25k
full coverage no deducible for $143.00 a year like I do.
(I have State Farm) There are a few things I would still like to see
done to the truck but that is up to the next owner now. For example, I ordered
new carpets for it but they didn't lay right so I sent them back and reused the
original carpet. There is a slow drain on the electrical system and you need to
keep a trickle charger on it.
I have some clean "hard to find" parts and trim
that will go with the truck as back-up.
I have lots of documentation and a photo album of the
restoration. please feel free to CALL or TEXT me with any and all questions
61O-5O9-6583. I ASK
THAT YOU PLEASE BE SURE BEFORE YOU BID, PLEASE COME TAKE A LOOK BEFORE YOU BID,
AND PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR WIFE AND BANK ACCOUNT SAY ITS ALRIGHT BEFORE YOU
BID.
The truck is located in Kutztown PA 19530. that's half way
between Reading and Allentown and about 45 mins north of Philly
If the reserve is not met I will offer the truck to the high
bidder... if we cannot strike a deal then I will relist. My point is Bid often
and stay on top!
YES it was appraised 8 years ago for $25k, YES it cost a lot
more to build then $25K NO my reserve is not $25K my loss your gain. |

Ford picks up new Ranger overseas [w/video+poll]
Tue, Mar 24 2015The new Ford F-150 is lighter and more efficient than the model it replaced, but if it's a smaller Ford pickup that you really wanted, you're going to have to pack your bags. Because while Dearborn stopped selling the Ranger in North America years ago, it still offers one in markets overseas. And it's just rolled out a refreshed model at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show in Thailand. Following the reveal of the new Everest sport-ute with which it shares its chassis, the refreshed Ranger pickup benefits from revised sheetmetal, powertrain and equipment throughout. The changes are punctuated by a front end with a more rugged-looking grille, a more sculpted hood and projector headlamps. The interior has been updated as well, not only in terms of style but equipment as well, with an eight-inch touchscreen display in the dashboard running Sync 2 and dual TFT displays flanking the speedo in the instrument cluster. Under the hood, buyers will be able to choose between a carryover 2.5-liter inline four with 163 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque that's the sole gasoline option or one of two diesel options: a 2.2-liter four now producing 158 hp and 284 lb-ft, or a 3.2-liter inline-five with 197 hp and 347 lb-ft. The diesel engines are more efficient than before with available stop/start engine management, and offer what Ford says is class-leading towing capability. Six-speed automatic or manual gearboxes transmit the power to the road through either the rear wheels or all four. Production will continue in Thailand for the Asia Pacific Market, South Africa for Africa and Europe, and in Argentina for Latin America. All told the new Ranger will be offered in 180 markets, around the world but for better or worse, ours won't be one of them. This content is hosted by a third party. China's woes sandbag Detroit automakers
Sun, Jul 19 2015Through the first six months of this year, China's auto market is actually up 8.4 percent from the same period in 2014. Still, automakers aren't optimistic after June's 3.2 percent dip in year-over-year sales. Last month marked the first drop in China since February 2013, and the decline could extend through the coming months, which is a concern according to a number of analysts. In Detroit, General Motors might take the brunt of the damage, but Ford could feel some heat too. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers is already responding to the June dip by predicting annual sales to grow only three percent this year, rather than seven percent that had been predicted earlier in the year, according to The Detroit News. Ford and GM will both release their second quarter earnings before the end of July, and those figures will give the industry a much better idea about the automakers' performance in China. Due to China's massive growth, both Ford and GM have made significant investments there. In 2014, GM announced $14 billion to make the country a focal point, including a goal of 5 million annual sales. Ford, for its part, opened 88 new Chinese dealers in one day alone last year. It has also been working to grow Lincoln since the brand's launch in 2014.The Detroit News took a much deeper look into Detroit's exposure in China, with the overall gist being that we're all uncertain about how things are going to shake out. Some industry analysts feel this is just a temporary blip, while other are much more worried. If you have any interest in the auto market there or its affect on the Big Three, the piece is well worth a read. Ford and Lincoln recall roundup: Explorer, F-350 Super Duty, Aviator
Fri, Jul 16 2021Ford and Lincoln released information on a flurry of recalls this morning. There are three in total, and they span different models and separate issues. Those models include the 2013-17 Ford Explorer, 2020-21 Lincoln Aviator and 2020-21 Ford F-350 Super Duty. We’ll organize these three in order of most cars recalled. 2013-17 Ford Explorer This recall includes a substantial 774,696 vehicles, of which 676,152 are in North America. Why? Ford says these vehicles “may experience a seized cross-axis ball joint that may cause a fractured rear suspension toe link.” The diminished steering control that would follow could increase the likelihood of a crash, Ford states. Only vehicles that spent time in high corrosion states should be affected, Ford says. That means places that lay salt down, experience cold weather and high humidity. Owners of these vehicles will need to take their car into the dealership, where it will be inspected to determine if it needs work. If so, Ford will replace the cross-axis ball joint/knuckle, then replace the toe links with a newly-designed part. Notifications to owners of these vehicles are scheduled to be sent out the week of August 23. WeÂ’ll note that Ford is reporting six “allegations of injury” related to this issue. For those who donÂ’t live in the high-corrosion states/their car was never registered in those states, Ford is offering a customer satisfaction program in case you were interested in having the work done anyway. 2020-21 Lincoln Aviator Lincoln is pulling back 40,995 new Aviators due to an improperly secured battery cable wire harness. This recall applies to gasoline-only versions of the Aviator, so Grand Touring PHEV buyers neednÂ’t worry. The wire harness may contact the AC compressor pulley due to it being secured improperly. Ford says that over time, the pulley could rub through the wire harnessÂ’ insulation, resulting in a short circuit and ultimately a fire. However, Ford is not currently aware of any injuries or fires related to this concern as of now. When you bring your car in, the dealer will inspect all the parts to determine what needs to be done. Fixes range from a basic tie strap to keep the harness away from the pulley (if it hasnÂ’t made contact yet), to replacement of the wire harness and AC belt if the contact has caused damage. Owners should expect to be notified the week of July 30 if their Aviator is involved in the recall.
