I bought this truck from a friend a while ago. It was his daily driver. He commuted to Ohio and back every week, therefore the high mileage. The last time he drove it, the engine light came on and the oil pressure dropped. He immediately pulled over and had it towed to his mechanic. The mechanic checked it out and seems to think it needs an oil pump. Without tearing into the motor, it's hard to diagnose I guess. He didn't want to invest any money into it because he had recently bought a car to commute with. So I bought the truck with the intention of fixing or replacing the motor. Since I've had the truck at my house, I haven't been able to repeat the problem! I haven't taken the truck on the road because I didn't put plates on it, but I drive it around the yard and no issues! It sounds/runs good. Could use manifold gaskets, but even that quiets down after about 15 seconds. The 4 wheel drive works good. Air Conditioning blows cold. Trans shifts good. Clean leather interior. Premium stereo. Power options. Tow package. Tires have about 3,000 miles. Alternator and belts replaced last fall. Brakes and rotors new. Small rust bubbles on rear wheel wells. Front bumper has surface rust from stone chips.

Like I said, this was his daily driver until the engine issue. I've just decided to sell it and get a 2 wheel drive truck.

The engine issue may be something minor, and someone will get a great deal. Or the worst case scenario is that it needs a new engine, and therefore my low starting price with NO RESERVE! But I'm not a mechanic, so keep that in mind. The truck is available evenings for anyone to come check it out. It runs and drives but I'm not letting anyone take it on the road. No plates, insurance or inspection. Plus, it runs good now, but at high speeds nobody knows. At least now I can move it around! So please respect that. I would urge the winning bidder to have it towed rather than drive it home.

To arrange a time to see it, or any questions you may have, please email me.

Thanks, and good luck bidding.

On Jun-24-13 at 09:48:26 PDT, seller added the following information:

I've had questions about the truck that I will answer for everyone;

* YES, the toolboxes will be sold with the truck. And I have multiple keys for the boxes, plus many spares.

* There is no frame damage on the truck.

* The truck was undercoated when it was purchased new, and in very good shape underneath. Only minimal surface rust, NO structural damage whatsoever.

* The truck has idled in my driveway 5-10 minutes, and I've driven around the yard. Like I said, it runs great! But I haven't taken it on the road or run it at high idle. It revs up with no noises or issues, but I'm not gonna push it. At this point I can move it around and I don't want to make any further problems if there are any. That's up to the buyer. But I'll start and drive it for anyone to see. Like I said....bid as though the motor needs to be replaced. That way you won't be disappointed. But there may be no issues with it.

* The engine light came on for the previous owner, but it's not on now and I didn't have a diagnostic check done since I've had it.

* The oil has about 2000 miles on it, and it's clean. No metal filings.

Xcar celebrates 100-year anniversary with Model T tribute

Fri, Jan 9 2015

Never mind the fact that XCar hasn't been making videos for the last 100 years, the British duo have gone all silent-moving-pictures in order to make their centenary case for the Ford Model T, a car that was already seven years old in 1915. It's not a review, but a mostly sepia-tinged look at the car that started the mass-market adventure by taking that biblical advice to be fruitful and multiply and populate the Earth abundantly. Since it looks like Xcar is celebrating some kind of milestone, we've also included another video below of the first Xcar review we could find, covering the BMW M1, from the much more recent past - circa 2012.

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
