The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"This vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it and runs well. As it is a 19 year old vehicle there are 4 small shopping cart dings on the outside of the bed (see photos), and the back part of the roof, above the third taillight, has a dent where a tree limb came down and hit it (luckily with no glass fracture). There's no body rust and the motor, transmission, and electrical system have all been checked out as A-OK."

This Ford F-150 pick-up is dependable, looks great, and has been well cared for.  The vehicle was re-painted in 2008 with its original color (white) and the interior was totally replaced in 2011, including new headliner, customized "Ford" leather seats (in Pacific Blue and Gray), and new carpeting.  This truck also has had new headlight lens and taillight lens replaced in 2012 (the originals lost their luster and would not buff out so I replaced them).  This truck also has an aftermarket alarm and anti-theft ignition interrupter installed and power door lock on the driver's side.  The bed has a bed mat and cap rails and the tool box is clean with a working lock.

This truck also has chrome window covers, step rails, and an AC/heater bypass to increase air conditioning efficiency by around 15%.  The two main comments I get from passengers in my truck are about the awesome customized seats and the frigid air conditioner.

The spare tire is a full-size tire and it was replaced in 2008.  The jack and the jack rod are in their factory locations under the hood.  The stereo system is new and consists of 4 Pioneer speakers and a new Sony CD-USB player.  I retained the original radio if the new owner wants to return the vehicle to the OEM condition.  I also replaced the headlight trim and grill with chromed versions, and I will relay the original OEM ones to the new owner if the new owner wants them.

This vehicle has never been north of Tallahassee, Florida so there's no body rust or undercarriage decay.  A trailer hitch was added to the Hercules bumper (they don't make Herc bumpers anymore) in 2008 to accommodate a motorcycle trailer.  The max that has been pulled on the hitch was the bike plus its trailer, equaling just over 1200 lbs.

The battery was replaced less than 6 months ago and is still under warranty by Wal-Mart. The tires were replaced at 63,300 miles (7,000 miles ago) and have an 85,000 warranty on them from Discount Tires.  I have all of the paperwork for these items and the truck comes with the original 1994 owners manual and new truck guide.

I would like to get as close to $7000 as I can for this, but I will consider all offers over $5000.

People always ask why a vehicle is being sold, so I'll tell you.  We just bought a new 2013 F-150, and it's white with blue/gray interior as well.  These F-150s are hard to beat, in my opinion.

Thanks for looking.

Ford open to diesel, hybrid or electric Mustang? [w/poll]

Sun, 08 Dec 2013

The Ford Mustang may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. The arrival of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the new Mustang could do a lot to combat that perception, but the EcoBoost engine may just be the tip of the iceberg in that regard.
Speaking with Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti at the reveal of the new Mustang in Australia, GoAuto reports that the Blue Oval automaker is considering offering its latest pony car with a diesel, hybrid or even electric powertrain in the future.
"We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options," said Fascetti. Other options could include a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed unit in order to help improve fuel economy and emissions for the Mustang, although figures for the current lineup have yet to be revealed.

Detroit 3 and UAW could create healthcare pool

Thu, Sep 3 2015

Healthcare costs continue to multiply in the US with no clear end in sight, but the United Auto Workers and the Big Three are negotiating a way to rapid growth under control. As part of the latest contract talks, the union has an idea to create a healthcare pool across all of its members at Ford, General Motors, and FCA US. If accepted, the company-wide integration would spread out the expenses and create a massive member base for bargaining with insurance companies. Both Ford and GM are at least considering the proposal, according to The Detroit News, and FCA US might be on board, as well. The idea is the work of current UAW president Dennis Williams and is based on the similar pool for the Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association for retirees. "I've walked through this several ways; I just don't have any other answer," Williams said to The Detroit News. "I do believe this will work. It's worked with the VEBA." Williams was elected UAW president last year and won by an overwhelming margin. He vowed no more concessions to automakers. In addition to healthcare, the two-tier wage system is another major talking point in the contract negotiation because it gives fewer benefits to entry-level workers. Higher wages are also a request. Healthcare costs are a massive expense for automakers and are expected to reach over $2 billion this year, according to The Detroit News. The payments are up nearly 50 percent or more in just the last four years.

The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.
