1995 Ford XLT Lightning SVT. As with most Lightnings this is a top of the line fully loaded truck that has been meticulously cared for and maintained through the years. Other than slightly darker side and back windows and a magnaflow muffler this Lightning is completely stock and has never been abused in anyway. The 5.8L  engine is still as healthy as day one and the 4 speed automatic transmission still shifts good and strong as it should. The truck currently has 133,343 actual mles but it looks and drives like a 30,000 mile truck. All of the glass is perfect and the body is straight. There are a few rock chips in the front bumper and spoiler area and the tailgate that have been touched up but overall the paint still looks very nice. The truck is black with gray interior and the interior is also in perfect condition. The truck has always been garaged and has never been smoked in. Options include a factory jump seat, sliding back glass, CD player, and tube rear bumper. The truck is wired for the trailer towing package but I don't think that it has ever had a hitch installed on it. The bed has a spray on liner. This truck started life as a Ford Motor Co Executive lease vehicle for the  first 14,000 miles and has had two owners since, both senior citizens in there sixties which explains why this truck is in such great original condition. I have all service reciepts for this truck from oil changes to factory Ford recalls and maintenance work performed. The transmission and cooling systems were flushed as recommended by Ford at the specified times, the brakes were gone through in 2011, the shocks replaced in 2002, and the A/C completely rebuilt in 2006, and the exhaust system replaced in 2010 and the list goes on. The tires are near new with less than 800 miles on them, they are Kumho brand mounted on a set of perfect factory aluminum wheels and centers. Unlike most these wheels have no peeling clear coat and have no curb rash. This truck is mechanically perfect and and ready to drive anywhere without reservation. On each rear wheel opening there is a small less than 1" spot where rust is starting to form, it is currentley pin head size spots not noticable unless you were looking for it, but it is there and will need attention, but should be an easy fix. I have owned several Lightnings through the years and this one is by far the best, these are great trucks built to stand up to tough conditions, but if just driven normally will last forever. I have tried to describe this 18 year old Ford Muscle classic surviver to the best of my ability but have probably missed something that you need to know, if so just ask. If you would like to inspect this truck in person before the end of the auction, again just ask and arrangements will be made. If you are the winning bidder and want to fly in in and drive the truck home I will meet you at the airport. If you want to have it transported home, I will do what I can on this end to assist in pickup but the buyer will be responsible for all transportation costs if required. Terms of the sale are cash prior to pickup and the truck has a good Missouri title. Winning bidder will not be disappointed. Thanks for looking.

Ford Transit is America's new best-selling van

Tue, Jan 6 2015

The Ford Motor Company's sales in December ticked up 1.2 percent in the US, and the automaker was down 0.5 percent for 2014. But the Blue Oval looks like it might have a real winner on its hands when it comes to its new Transit van. The recently introduced line nearly doubled its numbers during the month by delivering 10,030 units for an annual total of 20,488 examples sold. It also gave the fullsize model the title of America's bestselling van for December. Those 10,000 sales put the Transit head and shoulders above all of its competitors in the crowded commercial van market. Second place went to the Chevrolet Express with 5,611 sales in December, and the ancient Ford E-Series was third with 5,256 moved. The rest of the segment was somewhat lower, with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter at 3,288 units for the month, Ram ProMaster at 3,036, GMC Savana with 1,725 and Nissan NV at 1,554. December also marked the second month in a row for the Transit to beat out the E-Series in sales. However, its predecessor still won overall for the year with 103,263 units moved in 2014, but it enjoyed a full calendar year of sales. According to Ford spokesperson Mike Levine, the smaller Transit Connect had its best sales month ever for December too, and the automaker has been among the sales leaders in the van segment for the last 36 years. "Clearly, sales show we're best at meeting our customers' needs," said Levine to Autoblog, who touted the model's results on Twitter and cited the Transit's numerous configurations as its biggest selling point. Ford's latest van has other plusses, too, say analysts. "The one thing the Transit has going for it is a low base price relative to the competition. Compare the base price of the Sprinter to the Transit and it is hands-down a Transit win," said Dave Sullivan, auto industry analyst at AutoPacific, to Autoblog. Purely by model name, the Transit was also the bestselling van in November, with 4,851 deliveries. However, the Chevy Express had 4,478 sales, plus 716 more from the GMC Savana. Since these two are the same model beneath the skin, as a platform, they arguably took the title for that month. With a new year already here, the Transit has a new challenge to face. "2015 will be the year that the Transit has to leave the nest, because E-Series inventories will be close to zero and Transit will have to carry all the weight," said Sullivan.

Chevy, GMC and Ram dealers are worried they'll run out of new pickups

Wed, May 6 2020

One of the unexpected side effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is a shortage of pickups at Chevrolet, GMC and Ram dealers. Supplies are running out, and the factories that build these trucks remain closed. Stores across the nation began increasing incentives in March, when the first stay-at-home orders were issued, in a bid to continue luring buyers into showrooms. They also launched online sales channels, or expanded their existing digital business. Sales nonetheless plummeted in April 2020, but in-demand vehicles, like the Ram 1500 and the Chevrolet Silverado, are still selling relatively well thanks in part to the aforementioned incentives. Pickups outsold sedans for the first time in April 2020, according to The Detroit News, by 17,000 units. The problem is that General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), and Ford temporarily closed their factories in March. "The pipeline is very dry," said Mike Maroone, the CEO of a large dealership group named Maroone USA, in an interview with Automotive News. He told the publication his Chevrolet stores are sitting on a 30-day supply of the Silverado, which is one of America's best-selling vehicles. "That is a problem for us," he concluded. Coronavirus-related lockdowns and factory closures compound problems already faced by dealerships who represent General Motors-owned brands. They entered 2020 with a thinner inventory than a year earlier due to the 40-day United Auto Workers (UAW) strike that paralyzed the company late in 2019, and the 0%, 84-month offers announced in March have sapped supply. Ram wasn't affected by a strike, but it has relied heavily on generous incentives to move trucks off lots. Ford, on the other hand, limited incentives to 2019 models. Inventory levels differ greatly from region to region. The national average for the Silverado stood at an 82-day supply in March 2020, down from 120 in March 2019. Ram stores had a 114-day supply of the 1500 (compared to 134 a year earlier), while Ford bucked that trend with a 111-day supply versus 84 in 2019. Don't panic if you're in the market for a truck; we're not facing a complete drought. Automotive News added that America's light-duty pickup inventory could fall to 400,000 units by the end of May, and drop further to 260,000 units in June. For context, there were about 700,000 light-duty trucks in stock in May and June of 2019. That's unquestionably a sharp drop, but there will still be over a quarter of a million trucks to choose from.
