1992 Ford XLT Lariat Pickup. Standard cab, short wide bed, powered by a 5.0 V8. This is a very nice pickup that has been well maintained through the years and has never been abused in any way. It is currently not running due to a bad transmission that will need to be repaired or replaced. The transmission has been removed from the truck and is currently in the bed. Prior to the transmission going out this was a great running and driving vehicle. Within the last year the following parts were replaced with new parts, battery, alternator, radiator, and serpentine belt. The body on this truck is amazingly straight, with minimal rust forming in the usual places, over both rear wheel arches, and in the bottoms of both front fenders. These are all easy fixes requiring small areas of metal to be replaced and not whole panels. The exterior color is light mocha and the paint is original, the interior is exceptionally nice from the carpet to the head liner with only the driver seat showing some wear on the left edge. All of the glass is excellent and the power windows and locks work as they should. The factory stereo has been replaced with a Sony brand EC3 CD player. The truck has chrome bumpers front and rear, and the chrome grill has a golf ball size hole in it. The factory chrome rally wheels and centers are also in nice condition, with Michelin tires mounted on them, and the tires may have 15-25% of the tread left. The bed is covered with a fiberglass A R E brand cap painted to match the truck since new. If you are a transmission mechanic or have a spare E40D Ford transmission laying around this will be an easy fix. This is a very nice pickup truck that still has a lot of miles left in it, and will be an easy project for the new owner. Truck will need to be towed or hauled to it's new home. Good Missouri title. I have tried to describe this truck to the best of my ability but have probably missed something that you need to know, if so just ask. If you would like to inspect the truck in person prior to the end of the auction, again just ask and arrangements will be made.

What next for Alan Mulally?
Wed, 23 Apr 2014Alan Mulally has emerged as a hero when it comes to American manufacturing. He came to Ford in 2006 after serving as head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, streamlined operations, sold off the costly elements of its Premier Automotive Group and saved Ford from having to be bailed out by the federal government like its cross-town rivals Chrysler and General Motors did. But as we reported mere days ago, he's widely expected to step down from the chief executive's office at Ford shortly.
So what's next for one of the most successful executives in the business? Hard to say, but don't expect Mulally to disappear into retirement. Though he didn't ultimately take the top job at Microsoft, industry insiders expect to see him in another influential position - likely as a board director or even chairman of another company. (We say "another company" and not Ford because while Bill Ford may have stepped aside as CEO to bring Mulally on board in the first place, we don't see him giving up his chairmanship of the board also.)
Mulally has likely already lined up his next move, and could either announce what that move will be as soon as Ford confirms Mark Fields as his successor, or could wait awhile. Insiders speculate that he could leverage his transportation and aerospace experience into a position at General Electric or a major airline, his manufacturing expertise to benefit a company like Procter & Gamble or his management skills at a consultancy firm.
This is what a 3D-printed liquid metal Ford Torino looks like
Sat, 12 Oct 2013Artist Ioan Florea has encapsulated a 1971 Ford Torino with 3-D-printed liquid metal transferred onto the car using technology that he developed, and the result is a stunningly shiny, seamless design.
"The surface has the highest coefficient of reflectivity never achieved before," Florea told us in an e-mail, using "nano-materials and nano-pigments that create an internal three-dimensional structure and dictate the polymer how to behave." Sure... We'll leave it to him to make any more 3-D-printed liquid metal-transferred art pieces.
Florea grew up in Romania, and the motivation behind picking the old Ford as his canvas came from his childhood memories of what an American car is - "big and wide and fascinating," he says - and the European name of the car itself, which it shares with an Italian city.
