1990 Ford F-150 Xlt Lariat Extended Cab Pickup 2-door 5.0l V8 2wd on 2040-cars
Kingsport, Tennessee, United States
|
For auction is a 1990 Ford F-150 extended cab, long bed, 2 wheel drive with a 302 cid (5.0L) V8 engine and automatic overdrive transmission (AOD). The interior and exterior are in great shape, given the age of the truck. It runs and drives fairly well and requires a little work to be perfect such as a tune up, exhaust gasket replacement, and PCV hoses and valves. The transmission was professionally rebuilt and installed by a local Ford dealership about a year ago. The wheels and tires were also purchased and installed about a year ago. The brakes could use some adjustment as they tend to lock up the rear wheels if pressed hard, but they stop the truck just fine. The shocks, suspension parts, and wheel bearings will probably need to be replaced in the near future. The truck has working dual fuel tanks. The air conditioning was removed and replaced with a by-pass pulley. The engine does leak a small amount of oil when parked, as can be seen in the above picture (not sure from where, runs and drips off oil pan toward the rear).
- New parts that have recently been installed include fuel filter, battery, alternator, radiator (heavy duty, 2 inch core), driver side power window motor, engine mounts, throttle position sensor, and 3 freeze plugs. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Happy bidding! On Apr-20-14 at 16:00:08 PDT, seller added the following information: * Please note: I have had this truck for sale locally as well, and may cancel all bids and
end the auction early if the truck is purchased locally prior to the
final auction day as per Ebay's selling terms. On Apr-23-14 at 12:50:44 PDT, seller added the following information: ** The truck is no longer listed for sale anywhere else other than Ebay, so I will not be closing the auction early. There is no reserve price, so highest bid takes it. |

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
Toyota, Ford not interested in FCA merger
Mon, Jun 15 2015Sergio Marchionne will preach the benefits of mergers to anyone who'll listen, but his calls for industry consolidation may be falling on deaf ears. At least, that is, the ears of those who the Fiat Chrysler chief would most like to bend. Not only is General Motors uninterested, but according to The Detroit News, neither are Toyota or Ford. "It's something we would not be interested in," said Toyota's North American chief Jim Lentz, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Toyota Technical Center. "At 10 million (vehicles) we have enough scale right now to do what we need to do. There really would be no advantage for us." Toyota isn't the only one unenthused by the prospect of merging with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The Detroit News also reports that Ford, though it may yet to have been approached by Marchionne, wouldn't be interested either. "We're not a suitor for FCA," said Ford CFO Bob Shanks. "We don't see that type of opportunity as one that applies to us." With GM, Toyota, and Ford expressing disinterest in Marchionne's merger idea, the FCA chief will likely start looking elsewhere – or look for other ways to compel his primary candidate to reconsider. He may eventually find a partner – more likely in the Far East or within Europe – but it may not take the form of the major player Sergio has hoped for. Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R Nismo star in World's Greatest Drag Race 4
Fri, 26 Sep 2014We love Motor Trend's annual World's Greatest Drag Race video. Now back for its fourth appearance, the idea of lining some of the world's fastest cars up for a ten-wide, straight-line, full-throttle run is, well... it's pretty freaking badass.
The lineup this year boasts some impressively fast cars to be sure. The group of ten includes the following darlings: Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru WRX STI and, last but not least, the Volkswagen GTI. Give us any one of those for the weekend, and we're happy to take the keys.
It must be said though, that for a publication that draws as much water as Motor Trend does, there are some big cars that we might expect to be here instead. The Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari 458 Speciale would have added some exotic flare to the list, and the omissions of the Chevy Corvette Stingray (for the second year in a row) and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat are real head-scratchers.
