For Sale By Second Owner (We have had this truck since 1990):

The GOOD: This truck is in very good condition for the model. It has a few dings and scratches, but overall in good condition. It is a short bed, (hard

to find). It has 164,918.6 original miles as of this posting. The pictures tell the story. It runs and shifts good. It has power steering, power brakes,

power windows, power door locks, dual fuel tanks, air, cruise control, tilt steering, sliding rear window, in-dash clock and a Pioneer am/fm cassette

radio. It also has a bed liner that has been in it since it was new, so the bed is in excellent condition. It is loaded, after all it is a LARIAT.

The Not so Good: The tailgate has been bent but is still usable, the door locks work but the bezels are broken, the air/heater work but are mostly

directed up where the defroster comes out, the dash has a few cracks in it and a speaker where the old speaker holes were, the in-dash clock works

but is really hard to set, the sun visors have been replaced with newer ones (but I have the originals),the seat is torn in 2 small places. The only things

not original are the wheels and the paint. It was repainted about 13 years ago. This truck runs good down the road but some days it doesn't idle

good. Sometimes it will go dead when you first crank it.  It still has the original plug wires, we have put spark plugs in it twice. We replaced the

alternator, brakes and hoses. Only other thing we have done is regular oil changes.

This truck would be a good daily driver or restore, it has absolutely NO RUST.

Ford patents a multi-touch version of its classic keypad

Fri, Sep 9 2016

For decades, Ford has offered a keypad on the doors of their cars that would allow owners access with the right code. Amazingly, the keypad has survived almost unchanged except for a recent touch button version. A new patent from the Blue Oval shows the keypad may get a big upgrade soon. The first big change is that it looks like the keypad may move to the key fob. Although it might be possible to have it on the car itself as well, the patent only seems to focus on the key fob. In addition, the fob will now be a multi-touch pad similar to that of modern smartphones. This will allow for more diverse code entries, according to the patent's description. Instead of just a simple number code, owners could enter a code that involves swipes and keystrokes, and even simultaneous keystrokes. For instance, you could enter a code that requires swiping from 1 to 3, followed by holding 2 and 4 to unlock the car. The patent also seems to indicate that this keypad would then display unlock functions and other functions on the fob after the correct code is entered, thus making it more than just a way to unlock the car. As for the practical implications of this keypad system update, it could provide an added layer of security. If someone steals your keys, they would have to also know your access code to get into the car. Whether this would also help make the key and car harder to hack would remain to be seen, though. Another possible benefit could be the prevention of accidental lock and alarm button presses, although that likely isn't a common issue. There could be potential downsides as well. If used as an extra layer of security, the legitimate owner would have to punch in their code on the fob to get in, which would render proximity key benefits relatively useless. Moving the keypad to the fob would also mean owners couldn't get into their cars without having the key with them. We don't have any clues as to when this could become a feature, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement, so it could show up in the next few years. Ford Focus 1.0-liter Ecoboost to only get manual trans in US

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Photos of the 2015 Ford Focus leaked earlier today, but now we're able to tell you more details of the global five-door hatchback. Bucking automaker's troubling trend of ditching manual transmissions in favor of automatics, Ford says the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will come only in a six-speed manual in the US, because, well, American drivers aren't as sophisticated as our European brothers and sisters.
Ford didn't come out and say it that way, but it has found American drivers are more prone to complain about automatics in smaller-engine cars, Raj Nair, Ford's group vice president of global product development, said at a press conference last week. The recent JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study backs up Ford's claims, pointing out that drivers are complaining about rough transmission shifts, engine hesitation and lack of power, particularly in small cars. In Europe and other parts of the world, drivers seem to understand the quirks of these pint-sized engines, Nair said, so they'll have the option to buy an automatic. Ford is working on tuning its dual-clutch transmissions to make them more amenable to American driver's tastes.
Ford will show off the refreshed 2015 Focus at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The car is due for an update, having been on sale in its current form since 2012. The automaker said it is jamming the car full of new technology - like a USB port that promises to charge your phone in half the time as a regular USB port. Features like Sync and a rear back-up camera will come standard. For a more in-depth look at the car, take a look at the full press release.
