Up for auction is my 1956 Ford F100 pickup. The truck runs and drives and everything in the truck works from the horn to the license plate lights. The truck is a bit of a frankentruck (that's what I call it). It's an original cab but has a fiberglass tilt front end and a late 80's early 90's bed on it. The truck is how i bought it. I've only maintained it and made some minor changes to it. This truck is fast and will smoke the tires all day long. It has a 73 olds 455 rocket motor with some internal upgrades to it. It came with a hand written build sheet that claims 400hp and 502lb ft of torque. The previous owner told me 2 years ago he ran back to back 13.9's and went on to the scale and weighed in at 4500 lbs with him sitting in it. The truck is far from perfect but you can drive it.

1956 original cab
fiberglass tilt front end
volare front clip
73 olds 455 big block
Turbo 400 trans
Tortion bar front suspension
Front disc brakes
Ford 9" posi traction rear end
B&M shifter
Autometer phantom gauges
Firehawk indy 500 tires (235/65R15 fronts and 295/55R15 rears)
Weld solid wheels

All the gauges light up and work. The fuel gauge is reversed for some reason but it still works as it should. The glass is all intact but the pass vent window has cracks in it, the rear window has a small crack in it. The wipers do work. It has a pontiac steering wheel and steering column. It has bucket seats with covers on them. The heater works very well and the front cowl vent goes up and down. Clean and clear title in my name and the vehicle drives anywhere you want. Aftermarket flowmaster 40's that dump under the cab/beginning of the bed.

The truck is being sold as is with no warranty given, expressed, or implied

Cash only or cashiers check. I've been having issues with my paypal lately

The truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells locally. I reserve the right to sell to the closest bidder if the reserve is not met. The closest bidder(s) will be contacted if I choose to go that route.

If you're in the Chicago area you're welcome to come by and see the truck and go for a ride with me if you like. Please contact me if you'd like to see it.

Any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!!

Mercury rises around sexy Cougar pack

Sat, May 30 2015

With a slightly larger body and a more luxurious interior, the Mercury Cougar doesn't carry quite as much cachet among pony car enthusiasts as the venerable Ford Mustang. But don't try to make that argument around Cougar super-fan Mike Brown. Since starting his Cougar collecting in 1988, Brown has become an absolute expert on the model, and he claims to have owned 400 of the Mercury pony cars in that time. Ten of them are in his collection today, not to mention a heap of spare parts in the garage. Check out some of the rarer members of Brown's fleet and allow him to tell you about them in this interesting interview from Electric Federal.

Ford will add lots of carbon fiber to new vehicles

Sat, Apr 18 2015

With BMW receiving a bunch of positive press for its usage of carbon fiber to build its i3 and i8 plug-in vehicles, Ford is jumping into that game as well. The US automaker has reached a manufacturing agreement with Dow Chemical to speed up the use of that material in Blue Oval vehicles. Carbon fiber usage will cut weight from Ford's new products, boosting fuel efficiency as a result. Ford will work with DowAksa, a 50/50 joint venture between Dow Chemical and Turkey-based Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.S, on a manufacturing partnership. The goal is to speed up technology research to make it cheaper to make cars and trucks with carbon fiber materials. Ford's light-weighting efforts received a boost of sorts this week when its aluminum-body 2015 F-150 was awarded a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's testing, making this year's version the safest to date. The new body construction cut 700 pounds from the truck's curb weight. Take a look at Ford's press release about DowAksa below. FORD, DOWAKSA TO JOINTLY DEVELOP CARBON FIBER FOR HIGH-VOLUME AUTOMOTIVE LIGHT-WEIGHTING APPLICATIONS Ford and DowAksa formalize agreement to advance the adoption of cost-effective carbon fiber components through technology validation and proof of concept to reduce vehicle weight and increase fuel efficiency without sacrificing strength Agreement provides pathway for a high-volume manufacturing partnership New joint development agreement accelerates joint research announced in January in partnership under new U.S. composites manufacturing institute Ford and DowAksa today signed a joint development agreement (JDA) to formally advance research on cost-effective, high-volume manufacturing of automotive-grade carbon fiber, a material poised to play a significant role in the drive to make vehicles lighter for greater fuel efficiency, performance and capability. The agreement, between Ford Motor Company, Ford Global Technologies and DowAksa – a 50/50 joint venture between The Dow Chemical Company and Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.S – will combine DowAksa's feedstock capacity, carbon fiber conversion and downstream intermediates production capabilities with Ford's expertise in design, engineering and high-volume manufacturing. The goal is to produce materials that make cost-effective carbon fiber composite parts that are much lighter than steel but meet automotive strength requirements.

2015 Ford F-150 named Truck of Texas, Lincoln and Jeep also awarded at Truck Rodeo

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

The Ford Motor Company has a lot of reasons to celebrate after winning eight categories in this year's Texas Auto Writers Association's annual Truck Rodeo. Most important among them, the Blue Oval's latest 2015 Ford F-150 earned the prestigious Truck of Texas award, ending the Ram 1500's two-year winning streak. The 2015 Lincoln MKC also grabbed the honor as the CUV of Texas, and Ford was named Truck Line of Texas.
FoMoCo even took trophies for best technology with its extensive use of aluminum on its latest F-Series and best commercial vehicle for the new Transit 250. It wasn't a total sweep, though, because the Jeep Grand Cherokee grabbed the title of the SUV of Texas for the fifth straight time.
This year's event put 60 auto writers in 75 pickups, SUVs and crossovers and challenged them to find the best in a plethora of categories. All of the winners are listed below, and scroll down to read the full announcements from the Texas Auto Writers Association and Ford.
