55 Ford F100 Truck With Incredible Patina - Original Rolling Chassis on 2040-cars
Fayetteville, Georgia, United States
|
Incredible Rat Rod just waiting to happen - I picked this 1955 f100 up about a year ago with plans to make a great rat rod out of it, but have too many projects to tackle this one right now and I hate to see it go to waste. Truck was white, but previous owner stripped it to the metal to allow it to 'age', then got tired of it and sold it. Truck has no motor or transmission, no seat or interior. Has original spring front end and 9" rear end. Frame appears to be in good shape, cab has typical rust: rockers, cab floor and cab corners. I have new sheet metal for the cab corners and rockers, but not the floor. Cab floor has been covered with fiberglass at some point in the past...my plan was to replace the floor completely along with the rockers. Doors have rust in the bottoms. I believe most, if not all, of the door glass, window operators, headlights and grille components are in the cab of the truck. What you see in the photos is how I purchased the truck, I have not touched it since bringing it home. Inner fenders are in good shape, as is firewall metal. Original steering wheel and manual column are in tact, as are pedals. Truck has a ton of possibilities, I would love to see this go to someone who wants to tackle a big, but worthwhile, project.
Title is listed as 'clear' because ebay has limited options...Truck is sold with Bill of Sale from State of Georgia, which does not require vehicles of this age to be titled. $500.00 deposit is due upon winning auction, balance due at, or before, pick up. Don't bid if you don't want to buy. No warranties or guarantees. I will not ship or deliver, but will be happy to help you coordinate delivery of the truck. |

New Ford dedicated hybrid due in 2018, will it fare better than C-Max?
Fri, Aug 22 2014Everyone likes to go after the champ. When it comes to fuel economy, that means taking on the Prius, which is something that automakers not named Toyota have been trying to do for years. Just because no one has been able to beat the Prius for fuel economy numbers isn't stopping them from trying. Hyundai was just caught with a potential Prius-fighter and now we have news that Ford is joining the party. Well, is going to join again. The last time Ford said it was going to challenge the Prius, it didn't go quite as planned. The C-Max hybrid was heavily hyped as a Prius-beater and was originally rated at 47 miles per gallon. Of course, it later needed to be recalculated to just 40 mpg and sales tanked. So, it's back to the Blue Oval drawing board, according to Automotive News, which is reporting that Ford is readying a brand new gas-electric hybrid due in 2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle. A plug-in version is in the works, too, and the car will reportedly share a platform with the upcoming next-gen Focus and Escape models. About those C-Max sales. They have not been stellar for the C-Max hybrid, which started strong but suffered when the reality of the lower fuel economy was realized. So far in 2014 (through the end of July), Ford has sold 11,685 gas-electric models and another 4,759 plug-in Energi versions. The trend for the standard C-Max is downward (from 20,125 during the same time frame in 2013) and upward for the plug-in version (2,915 in the first seven months of 2013).
Bosch fined $57.8 million by DOJ for price fixing and bid rigging
Tue, Mar 31 2015The US Department of Justice has been investigating bid rigging and price fixing among automotive parts suppliers for years, and so far the agency has leveled nearly $2.5 billion in fines against 34 companies. The latest business to be caught in this ongoing crackdown is Germany's Robert Bosch GmbH (Bosch), the world's largest independent auto component maker, and it agrees to pay a $57.8 million criminal fine to the Feds. According to the DOJ, Bosch has agreed to plead guilty to pricing fixing and bid rigging for spark plugs and oxygen sensors supplied to the former DaimlerChrysler, Ford and General Motors. The rigging is said to have occurred between January 2000 and July 2011. Bosch also allegedly played foul with starter motors sold to Volkswagen from January 2009 until at least June 2010. Bosch and other companies allegedly conspired on the pricing for bids to submit to automakers, and sold the parts at noncompetitive prices. The DOJ filed a one-count felony charge in US District Court for these actions. The company's plea is still subject to court approval, though. Bosch is only the third European company to be charged in this investigation, according to the DOJ. So far, many of the fined businesses have been from Japan, including Takata, NGK and others. Some execs have claimed price-fixing has been the standard operating procedure in the auto parts industry for a long time. Robert Bosch GmbH Agrees to Plead Guilty to Price Fixing and Bid Rigging on Automobile Parts Installed in U.S. Cars Robert Bosch GmbH, the world's largest independent parts supplier to the automotive industry, based in Gerlingen, Germany, has agreed to plead guilty and to pay a $57.8 million criminal fine for its role in a conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for spark plugs, oxygen sensors and starter motors sold to automobile and internal combustion engine manufacturers in the United States and elsewhere, the Department of Justice announced today. According to the one-count felony charge filed today in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan, Bosch conspired to allocate the supply of, rig bids for, and to fix, stabilize and maintain the prices of, spark plugs and oxygen sensors sold to automobile and internal combustion engine manufacturers such as DaimlerChrysler AG, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company and Andreas Stihl AG & Co., among others, in the United States and elsewhere.
