1951 Ford F100 “Five Star Cab” Pickup Truck

Fuzzy Dice Auto Sales has up for auction a hidden treasure estate vehicle! This is a classic 1951 Ford F100 Flat Head V8 Pick Up Truck that belonged to the very well known stock car racer, Dick Fleck.

Fleck bought this truck new and kept it until he passed away recently in 2013. We purchased it from the family in an estate sale. Dick Fleck lived in Pennsylvania and raced stock cars through-out the east coast and Florida. In a book that he wrote he describes his trips and how he towed his stock car to all the events with his 1951 Pickup Truck. The very same pick up that you see here for auction! The book and other documents go with the truck.When he bought the truck it was blue. Disliking the color, he had it painted red three years later and also had the interior done to match the car. So the paint and interior were actually re-done 59 years ago! The lacquered paint still shines and the interior is presentable. The all steel body is totally rust free but as expected there are blemishes in the body and paint. Most notably are scuffs and some areas of fading on the fenders. These defects are depicted in the photos. A re-paint would make her look new, but if I owned her I’d leave it just as you see it with all its history.The truck still has its original AM radio and heater that are both still functional. It’s also equipped with working windshield wipers, turn signals and a battery shut off switch.

Brand new Gas Tank, New Fuel Lines, New Brake Hoses, New Wheel Cylinders, New 6 Volt Battery, New Wiper Blades.

Only 18 Miles on the totally rebuilt, bored .040 over, v8 motor with adjustable lifters, Mercury heads and a rebuilt carb and fuel pump. The truck runs quiet, smooth and peppy. She goes straight down the road and stops on a dime. The wooden truck bed was covered with steel flooring many years ago, but as you will see pictured the original wood remains.

This is a very nice example of a 1951 Ford truck that I would not hesitate driving anywhere and often. The 51’ Ford F100 half -ton is a widely sought after vehicle and are increasingly becoming hard to fine. Do not miss out on this classic vehicle and its interesting history. Ford GT to be revived, Le Mans battle upcoming

Ford dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1966 to 1969, scoring four consecutive wins. Wouldn't it be great if the Blue Oval could go back to France for the 50th anniversary of that performance and show it can still compete in international endurance racing? Actually, the latest rumors indicate that could be exactly the case, and the car taking that checkered flag could be another revival of the Ford GT.
As the rumblings go, Ford wants to use a new supercar to take another crack at Le Mans, after considering some other possible alternatives. Substantiating these musings are reports that a Blue Oval rep was reportedly on hand for a recent meeting about 2016 GTE-Class rules, according to Road and Track. That would put the new GT in the same racing class as the Corvette, Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 and others.
It's not all about racing, though. If you win on Sunday, you want something to be able to sell on Monday. The revived GT is reportedly still a mid-engine supercar, but the exact engine is unclear. It's possible that it could even be shown or announced at the Detroit auto show in January, according to Motor Trend.

The first Shelby GT350 Mustang came out a year after the first Ford Mustang, a collaboration between the carmaker and Carroll Shelby bent on making the Mustang a race winner. Perhaps even better than the car is Shelby's story behind its creation, when Ford chairman Lee Iaccoca gave him the "impossible job" of turning "a secretary's car... into a sports car." Shelby and his cohorts got that job done immediately, taking three SCCA B-Class national championships. The latest Ford Shelby GT350 is coming a year after the latest Mustang's debut, and it's certainly got the specs on paper to look like a track monster, especially in GT350R form. This year the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Shelby GT350 Mustang, and the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance featured the car in a special category. Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output

How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.
