Rust free 1966 F100.  Arizona vehicle.  Engine runs strong and the truck is very fast--until the manual transmission locked up.  It is a NP435 with the first gear granny.  It is now stuck in gear and makes noise. These are relatively easy to rebuild.  The external case is not leaking and it was getting progressively harder to shift gears over the last few months.  I had local quotes of $600.00 plus parts to remove, rebuild and replace the unit at Four Wheelers Supply in Phoenix, Arizona: 602-273-7195.  The transfer case looks to be a Dana 24 divorced style.  In other words the transfer case is NOT attached to the transmission.  The two are connected by a drive shaft approximately 20" long.  This is how Ford made these trucks in 1966.  The benefit is that any car type transmission can be used with out an adapter.  Simply use a short drive shaft coupled to the Dana 24.  I have a lead on a C4 Automatic for the 390 FE with low miles complete with torque converter and a Lokar shifter that can be had for under $700.00 locally.  It was still available when I checked at the time of this posting.

The front axle is a ball joint style Dana 60.  From the lug nuts it looks to be one ton.  The rear axle is either a Dana 60 or Dana 70.  Also one ton lug pattern.  The wheels look to be real Alcoa's and the BFG tires are like new.  The bed has has been sprayed by Inyati.

There is NO RUST on this truck.  As is NONE.  As in it never had any.  It is solid.

The paint job looks good from 6' away but is by no means show quality.  It is a basic low budget paint job but as I said it looks good.

The FE390 runs very strong.  Looks to have some oil leaking from the pan.  I do not believe that this is the original motor.  As indicated, before the transmission locked up this truck was fast.  Transfer case works fine, its a two speed: low and high.

Truck will roll onto a flat bed and engine starts right up.

The front springs have had the shackle reversal.  For put the piviot in the front at the factory.  All modern leaf spring vehicles have the pivot in the rear of the spring.

Ken Block hoons his Ford F-150 RaptorTrax on the slopes

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

Ken Block drives Fords. Hoons the heck out of 'em, actually. Mostly Fiestas, but also the occasional Focus or Mustang. But earlier this year, the Gymkhana guru revealed his baddest Ford yet: an F-150 SVT Raptor on tracks. And true to form, here he is putting it to the test in the latest video from Monster Energy and Hoonigan Racing.
Filmed at Baldface Lodge in Nelson, BC, the video pairs Block up with snowboarders Zak Hale and Ethan Deiss for some deep-powder action. You'll want to watch the video for yourself, but the bottom line is that the RaptorTrax beats the heck out of waiting on line for the ski lift. It's enough to make us start to look forward to winter... almost.

MotorWeek finds nice things to say about the 1993 Ford Probe

Tue, Mar 8 2016

This latest in MotorWeek's series of Retro Reviews continues its recent trend of remembering the massive glut of sports coupes that hit the market in the '90s. While vehicles like the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Mazda RX-7, and Ford Mustang all enjoy solid reputations down to this day, the 1993 Ford Probe, well... doesn't. As you'll soon see, though, the show's opinion suggests the coupe's second generation isn't really all that bad. Turns out they just weren't particularly sporty. Ford and Mazda developed the Probe together, and the Japanese company supplied both the base 115-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the 164-hp 2.5-liter V6 in the GT trim. The original's pseudo-angular look gave way to a much smoother shape for the second generation. Of course, pop-up headlights remained, which were a design hallmark for many of this era's sports coupes. After driving it, MotorWeek proclaims the Probe is "a winner" and considers the handling a "delight." That's not a big surprise, considering that in those days, a car had to be really bad not to get a decent review from Television's Original Automotive Magazine. However, the show hints at some of the reasons the coupe isn't so well remembered today. Even the GT reportedly suffers from soft springs and lots of understeer, which sounds like exactly the opposite anyone hoping to drive the coupe enthusiastically would want. To sum it all up, we're sure you're just as happy as we are that Ford went back on its initial plan to shelve the Mustang in favor of the front-drive Probe. Related Video:

Ford is building this sweet back-to-basics SUV in Brazil

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

We're use to forbidden fruit teasing us in Europe. Hatchbacks and diesels from Renault, Citroën, Peugeot, Skoda, SEAT and Alfa Romeo have been a regular torment that we've grown accustomed to over the years. This vehicle, though, is one piece of forbidden fruit we aren't entirely sure we can get over. We need it.
It's called the Ford Troller T4, and if you accidentally read that as either "reborn Ford Bronco" or "Americanized Land Rover Defender," we wouldn't be rushing to correct you. It's a basic, badass SUV, and is the first new vehicle to come from Troller since Ford gobbled it up in 2007. For those with longer memories, you'll recognize this vehicle from the concept that preceded it, the Ford T-R Concept. The production model remains remarkably true to the T-R, as well as past Trollers, but it's a slightly more modern look overall, with LED taillights, contrasting colors
You'll have to bear with us on the details, as we've been forced to rely on the notoriously literal Google Translate to convert the original Portuguese into English, which means some of the details were lost along the way.
