Had Mr. Ugly and Bad on the auction with no sucess. I also have 2 others to feed as well. So next and last will be Good, and the details are as follows. I have owned this one for at least 15 years now. Had a 390 with auto tranny and power steering on a straight axle. All that is gone now. I got the Mustang II IFS from Fatman Fabrications back east. That kit alone was 2500 bucks by the time I got everything I needed. Power brake assembly came from back east as well, got the paperwork on most everything done to this truck. Installed a rebuilt 351 Windsor motor and rebuilt C6 automatic tranny. Since the front rims were now Ford car pattern I installed a 1971 Cougar rear end with tall 2:76 to 1 gear ratio.
Then due to a faulty Fram oil filter I lost that motor after only 7 K miles. Now has a hotter rebuilt 351 Windsor again with the RV cam and when it hits a certain RPM range it takes off fairly well. Hood is off a 1958 F100 and that is what was on it when I got this truck. Last owner had it for almost 20 years and it had monster tires on it then. He went camping a lot with the truck. Body work is mostly done by a friend of mine. If you look at the roof line you will notice there is no seam going back anymore. It was easier for him to cut and replace the metal rather than trying to create a new seam. But he didn't spot putty glaze anywhere so it would be a couple days more puttying & sanding to get a nice smooth surface. He just primed over some old paint chips, etc. Bottom rear corner of drivers door is showing some rust blisters forming so that should be taken care of. Once that is done then ready for a new coat of paint. Then recover the front seat a a new pair of speakers for the radio and off on a road trip. I am not worried about driving this truck anywhere. Power steering, disc brakes up front with power brakes. Springs were de arched but that has made for no loads in the back. Either re arch the springs or go for airbags or air shocks.
Other than the roof line there wasn`t much rust on this one. Right back door needs a push on the top side to make sure it is latched. The boys at the defunct local auction house couldn't figure out which door to close first them dummies. Lots of money and time into this one for sure. Having 3 panel trucks is not what I really need right now. Will answer any questions, have been a panel truck owner on and off for 30 years. There is a great Ford F-100 club for 1957 to 1960 models only with members all over the world on facebook definitely worth checking out. Thanks all.
Pertronix electronic ignition, 1 wire Chevy alternator, new door window felt kit are some of the other things I forgot to mention.

Ford Fusion demand outstripping supply
Sat, 15 Jun 2013The attractive new 2013 Ford Fusion has done wonders for the brand in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment - the vehicle is up nearly 22 percent compared to last year. But that sales momentum may soon hold steady due to low inventory levels of the new Fusion across the United States.
According to a report in The Detroit News, citing automotive data and Ward's Auto, Ford currently has a 39-day supply of the Fusion. That might sound fine, but a normally healthy average is about a 60-day supply. If Ford were to stop production on the Fusion today, there would only be enough vehicles available to get through another five weeks of sales, according to the News.
Currently, Ford produces the Fusion at its three-shift assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will add production at its facility in Flat Rock, MI later this year. A Ford spokesperson told The Detroit News that when Flat Rock production comes online, the automaker will need to rush new stock out to the regions with the most demand for the Fusion. Ford has doubled its coastal retail market share, with huge amounts of growth in areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the News reports.
Junkyard Gem: 1971 Mercury Comet 2-Door Sedan
Sat, Sep 10 2022When Ford introduced the original Maverick for the 1970 model year, Dearborn tradition required that a Mercury-badged version be created. That car ended up being the Comet, built from the 1971 through 1977 model years. Here's one of those first-year Comets in rough but recognizable condition, found in a Denver self-service yard not long ago. The Comet name had spent the 1960s affixed to the flanks of Mercurized Ford Falcons (1960-1965) and Fairlanes (1966-1969). Since the Maverick was the successor of the Falcon — sales of which went into an irrecoverable downward spiral once its sportier Mustang first cousin hit the streets — it made sense to move the Comet name over to the Mercury version. Nearly every American Mercury model ever sold was a U.S.-market Ford model with a different name and some gingerbread slapped on. Notable exceptions to this tradition include the 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar (mechanically based on the Contour but with a unique body) and the 1991-1994 Mercury Capri (an Australian-built mashup of Mazda components borrowed from the Ford Laser). The Comet was by far the cheapest Mercury model available in 1971, though it was considered more prestigious than its Maverick counterpart. The price tag on the '71 Comet two-door sedan started at $2,217 (about $16,505 in 2022 dollars), while the '71 Maverick two-door sedan cost $2,175 ($16,193 today). Meanwhile, AMC would sell you a new Hornet two-door sedan for one dollar less than a Maverick, Chevrolet had the Nova coupe for a dollar more than the Maverick, and Plymouth offered the Valiant Duster for $2,313 ($17,220 now). Toyota had a Maverick competitor as well that year, with the Corona at $2,150 for the sedan and $2,310 for the coupe. Having driven every one of the aforementioned models, I'd take the Duster if I went back in time and had to choose one (as a 1969 Corona owner, I'm not a fan of the 1971 facelift, though the Corona's build quality beats the Duster's). The build sticker on this car tells us that it was built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant (where Transits and F-150s are made today) and sold through the Los Angeles district sales office (there was a DSO in Denver, so it's a near-certainty that this car didn't start out in Colorado). The paint started out as Bright Blue Metallic (it's neither bright nor metallic 51 years down the road) and the interior was done up in Medium Blue Cloth & Vinyl.
