This is the semi-tragic story of a guy in the middle of starting his own business who got this build to about 85% completion, then simply became too busy to finish his once-beloved 1956 F-100 side project. It's now sitting around taking up space, so it's time to say goodbye. Don't let the paint fool you at first glance, this is no driveway junker. This is an 85% potential show truck with a ton of subtle mods and attention to details. It is a perfect project for someone looking for an easy hot rod build or even a quick fix-and-sell vehicle. Minor tuning, a tiny bit of wiring, and light bodywork are just about all this truck needs to be a completely unique custom hot-rod.

$12K or best offer. No low-ball offers.

Ford 429 with headers, holley 750 carb, C6 transmission painted red/chrome motif. Top end gaskets replaced preventatively a few years ago, mileage on engine unknown but I've barely driven it.
Ford 9" rear (recently replaced seals)
Not currently running but can be made to run again very easily.

Will need to be towed.
Brakes need to be bled
Small C-notch in rear frame
Rear axle flip kit installed
Air lift helper springs in rear in case you want to carry heavier loads or just jack the back up for a cool hot rod stance.
Fiberglass tilt nose with custom radiator and inner fenderwell supports. hinges with tailgate straps to support it. Right front fender piece of fiberglass is broken. I have 2 pieces here but just never got the chance to fiberglass the 2 pieces together.
Custom hinges for nose, attched to bumper, so the bumper tilts with the nose.
Underbed aluminum fuel cell installed, rear crossmember moved. Electric in-line fuel pump on switch to act as a secondary feed to the manual pump in case you park on a hill or let the truck sit for a long time. Flip the switch to feed fuel up the fuel lines for a few seconds, then turn it off and crank it right over.
Front door lip corners rounded and door frame reshaped to match.
Tons of custom work in the bed. Bed sides built out 2" across stake pockets then reskinned, making the bed wall thicker, and adding more clearance for fatter tires. All corners radiused and rounded for a "chubby" custom look. Subtle, but looks cool and aggressive. Bed is designed so a simple custom tailgate will sit perfectly flush with bed corners.
Custom roll pan with license plate bucket.
Chrome grill.
H4 headlights with red LEDs installed for car shows
Front power disc conversion installed
Solid axle front end with upgraded monoleaf lowering springs
Sway-bar kit semi-installed.
Passenger-side door lock install to match driver's side.
Freshly redone interior- black/red/chrome motif.
Custom scratch-built door panels
Newer-model bench seat
Seat belt kit semi-installed. Comes with anchors and belts.
Custom rear storage area behind seats.
Modernized wiring system installed with blade fuses. 90% of wiring completed to gauges.
Entire cab floor and firewall has noise-deadening insulation installed (like Dyna-mat).
Dash and interior painted a super-glossy black, new gauges, all new chrome everywhere, chrome door handles, chrome steering column. Smoked glass mod for speedometer. Chrome cowl vent handle. Chrome wipers,
Custom under-dash switch panel. Extends entire length of dash, hides wires and heater unit, houses switches for air ride, interior lights, headlight LEDs and has a few extra spots for gadgets.
All glass windows except one vent window are in good condition, good rubber seals everywhere.
Chrome door lip covers
Aluminum pedals
Lokar shifter

Only thing the interior really needs is a cheap headliner kit.

Slightly beaten-up Cragar rims with fresh tires.
Custom-bent brake lines into shape of an oval, with "Ford" script.

Here's the best part! The truck comes with about 7 parts tubs full of just about everything you'll need to finish the truck. Custom smoothed running boards semi-completed, new aluminum step plates, extra emblems, handles, hardware kit for wooden bed slats, extra speedo bezel, original valve covers, sway bars, ladder bar kit, panhard bar kit, chrome turn signal bezels, U-haul trailer hitch bar, boxes of specialized bolts, screws, gaskets that are unique to the truck, etc, etc.

It's a "finish-it-yourself" kit!

Ford Australia launches Falcon GT F 351, last of its line [w/video]

Sun, 15 Jun 2014

It's always best to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and Ford Performance Vehicles is doing just that in Australia with the Falcon GT F 351. It's the most powerful road car the Aussie performance brand has ever made with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 471 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 420 pound-feet of torque. It's joined by the FPV Pursuit Ute with the same powerplant tuned to 422 hp and 402 lb-ft. Sadly, the last F in this Falcon's name stands for Final.
The GT F 351 is a monumental way to go out, though. It harkens back to the old days of Aussie muscle Fords, and the 351kw output is meant to reference the classic Falcon GT and its 351-cubic-inch V8. In addition to the massive power, the F has the improved suspension from the R-Spec model and Brembo brake calipers.
FPV is building just 500 GT F sedans for Australia and 50 more for New Zealand, plus 120 Pursuit Utes. They feature a blacked-out hood and black stripes over the hood and sides, plus gloss black accents around the headlights, door handles and mirrors.

Driving the Lincoln Aviator and flogging Abarths at Laguna Seca | Autoblog Podcast #593

Fri, Aug 30 2019

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by West Coast Editor James Riswick and Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale. To begin, Greg takes a moment to remember the fastest woman on four wheels and former host of Autoblog's "The List," Jessi Combs, who died this week. Then our editors turn their attention to the cars they've been driving, including the Lincoln Aviator, Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier, as well as Joel's recent stint in the Fiat 500 Abarth and Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, including track time at Laguna Seca. Finally, they turn their attention to a listener in Germany who is looking to replace an aging Volkswagen Eos with a newer convertible in this week's "Spend My Money" segment. Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."
