This 1953 Ford f-100 Anniversary Edition that was parked on the southern side of a barn in the early 70's has been redone to roughly 95% of its original condition with original parts, no aftermarket. The only rust issue to be found anywhere on this truck is the bottom of the passenger door, which was caused form the outside window seal/sweep missing and water and volcanic ash(1980 St. Helens) leaked in and plugged the drain holes. Most parts($8000 in receipts) were purchased from Sacramento vintage or Dennis Carpenter. The truck has new chrome all around except for the original chrome hood emblem that I felt did not require replacement. New tires, shocks, brakes with rebuilt cylinders. New rubber seals for the windows, doors, hood, and bed. Interior and exterior door handles are new, along with window cranks. Two years ago the truck was completely sanded to bare metal and was repainted with 4th generation products. Bed has new stainless strips and clear pine planks in good condition, but pine could be resealed (part of the 5% to completely finish truck). Running boards and bed have been redone with brown tintable raptor liner. Interior has new floor mat, vinyl seat, and door panels. Engine is original 223 straight six, fords first overhead valve motor, and has been gone through by a certified mechanic that replaced rings and installed a new gasket kit. When I replaced the 6 volt wiring with 12 volt I installed brand new heater motor, new wiper motor, and new fuel sending unit. Engine runs very well. Electrical has all been upgraded to 12 volt(only change from original condition, 6 volt) in order to be drivable/reliable.

The 5% that I consider needs to be finished on this truck would be the broken speedometer indicator, replacement of the front bumper and oil bath air cleaner that are missing, doors locks that no longer work, and the inside bottom of the passenger door that had the only rust damage in the whole vehicle was fixed with Duraglass. The vinyl used on the door pulls turned out to be cheaper than I expected and separated, so those could also be replaced, which is a quick and cheap fix. Some parts for the door locks have been replaced but did not fix the problem, and I just decided I did not need it fixed considering the other 8 project cars I currently have going. This truck is so reliable it could easily be a daily driver that is no only fun to drive, it is also an attention grabber.

2020 Ford Explorer ST vs 2019 Dodge Durango SRT: How they compare on paper

Mon, Jan 14 2019

For a few years now, the Dodge Durango SRT has been the sole three-row performance crossover from a non-luxury brand. That all changes now that the 2020 Ford Explorer ST is coming to market. Now we have two family crossovers with rear-drive-based platforms vying for buyers that demand practicality and power. As such, there's no better time to dig into their specs to see how they compare. We'll check out each crossover's horsepower, torque, space, capability and prices. The full specs are listed below, followed by some analysis afterward. We also compared the regular 2020 Explorer models to other crossovers in this segment, if if that's not enough, you can check out our car comparison tool. Performance The Explorer and Durango go about making power in very different ways. The Explorer goes the force-fed route with two turbos feeding a 3.0-liter V6, while the Durango's enormous 6.4-liter V8 produces power with air flow au natural. Of the two, the Durango has the greater output of 475 ponies and 470 pound-feet of torque, feeding the flames of everyone that lives by the phrase "There's no replacement for displacement." The Explorer is no slouch at 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, though. Performance isn't purely based on power, though. Other factors play a role, such as weight, and in that regard, the Explorer is way ahead. At 4,701 pounds, it weighs a massive 809 pounds less than the portly Durango. This also means that both crossovers are very close in weight-to-power ratio, with the Explorer only slightly worse at 11.75 pounds per horsepower and the Durango at 11.6. Less weight will also play a roll in handling, and the Explorer is likely to feel sprightlier without so much mass to shift back and forth. Semi-related to handling are tire sizes. The Durango features 295-mm wide tires on 20-inch wheels. The Explorer has 255-mm wide tires on 20-inch wheels, but 21-inch wheels with 275-mm tires are available. So the Durango is working with more contact patch, but as we mentioned, it's carrying a lot more weight. 2020 Ford Explorer ST View 20 Photos Interior Space and Practicality Although the Durango SRT is the largest on the outside in every dimension, it loses out to Explorer repeatedly inside. The Ford has more headroom, leg room and shoulder room in nearly every row except the third-row where headroom comes up a bit short.

Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.

Ford will keep Escape and MKC plant open an extra week to meet demand

Thu, Jun 8 2017

Crossovers keep selling like popular pastries, and for Ford, that means it needs to keep production going. The company announced that, rather than the usual two-week shutdown, its Louisville, Ky., assembly plant will be open for one of those weeks. The plant builds the Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC, which Ford reports have had record sales. According to Ford, Escape sales through May are up 3 percent, and MKC sales are up 10 percent compared with last year. In total, the Escape has sold about 130,000 units through May, and the MKC has sold around 11,000. Keeping the Louisville plant open will allow the company to build an additional 8,500 vehicles. Ford stated that all other assembly plants will continue with the two-week shutdown as scheduled.
