1949 Ford F-1 "original Patina, Rat Rod" on 2040-cars
West Henrietta, New York, United States
Your looking @ a great Barn find 1949 Ford F-100 Rat rod with amazing Patina..This truck has the look, the body is all original with no previous repair or body work, has normal farm truck dings and dents (lt box side crease, looks cool!). It's difficult to call it a Rat rod, its not piece mailed together with odds and ends from the shop, this truck was pulled from a barn 2 years ago in Tennessee, it was sitting in the barn for over 30 years untouched. The floors are in good shape (90%), the truck is pretty solid with the normal areas that would need attention; cab corners, bottom portion of fender, absolutely workable, these areas need no attention the way the truck sits is perfect for it's look. Frame is solid, with no issues! The most amazing part about this truck is how great the Patina is, each time I clean the body the better it looks, if you look at the photo's you will see the change, the results each time are noticeable...
I have this truck set up on a 3 year plan that is being made very difficult to complete with my wife, my Stage 1 is complete so far..., Stage 1 listed below::-) All of this was done by a master re-builder (Willy B-well known in Rochester) not a back yard guy::-)) Complete overhaul on front suspension with a 4" SIDS dropped axle (sits low, no issues), custom made tie rod tube and steering link from box to arm, new leaf springs, new disc brake front, drum rear with all new lines and hardware, done professionally, looks and feels great, new shocks, freshly rebuilt straight 6 that appears to be out of a late 60's Mustang, with a C4 transmission (shifts great), new timing chain, this motor runs amazing, almost to good to remove that's why I left it in at this stage, reconditioned rear end out of a late 57 Chevy; unsure on gears thinking mid 3's runs 60 mph, plan is to change to low 3's or high 2's to increase high way speed, lug pattern changed to Chevy to accommodate more wheel options (cheaper parts etc..), brand new 15" Coker white wall tires with brand new Gennie steel wheels freshly base clear painted red ($1600), straight pipe exhaust from manifold no muffler (sounds cool!), new wiring harness with fuse block, all outside lights work perfectly passes state inspection, wiring in cab ready for music (not done yet), new radiator to accommodate a 8 cyl, new alternator, battery, new trans lines, new fuel lines ran to fuel cell, fuel tank mounted in bed to give more in cab space, I'm 6 foot wanted more cab space, all new glass with factory tint smoke, new window seals, door glass operates perfectly, no leaks or wind noise (at least from the glass, lol), removed battery from motor compartment, mounted in cooler in bed for look and to give me more room in the motor compartment for next motor, old barn construction wood mounted in bed (looks great!). I have over $6K invested in (stage 1) all listed above (this does not include truck purchase), I have a folder with all invoices on all listed...I am still working on it as we speak, and wont stop... Right now it's registered and driven any chance I can, it's road worthy and passed NY state inspection ...after finishing everything listed above I took this on a 200 mile road trip to the Syracuse Nationals with no issues, the truck rides and runs great with no major issues, so much fun to drive, people love it and want to talk every were I go.. My next Stage would be to AIR Bag's with a mustang II front end complemented with a 4 link rear, finish the interior to new, I'm thinking another $4-5 k this truck will be perfect. I don't have to sell, I'm trying to appease the wife right now, the timing and patience for completion is off right now, if it does not sell I will finish it and enjoy it... Please call Matt with any questions, I am willing to help arrange shipping, I have resources through the company I used to transport from Tennessee. My reserve is set below my Buy it Now, Good LUCK, do not hesitate to call. This truck is not for sale locally, I do have the right to end this auction early if someone approaches me locally and offers me the right price.. I'm located 5 mins outside of Rochester NY>> 60 miles East of Buffalo 585.7two one. 9 nine three six ::-)) Cell Call me rather than sending messages through Ebay.. or email mrmotoman306@yahoo.com Thanks for looking!! |

Shelby GT350 to be auctioned for charity at Barrett-Jackson in January
Fri, Dec 26 2014If you just have to be the first person in the world to possess the latest Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, then you need to be bidding during the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ, on January 17. That's because Ford is offering the chance to own the inaugural production example of its latest premiere pony car there. The buyer of the first GT350 gets to choose from any color and all of the available packages for their car. Although, the real highlight is probably being among the first to listen to the 5.2-liter V8 under the hood with its flat-plane crankshaft. Ford promises that the mill makes over 500 horsepower and more than 400 pound-feet of torque. To sweeten the deal even further, all of the proceeds of the sale go to the JDRF, a charity that funds type 1 diabetes research. There's no reserve on the auction for the GT350 but don't expect a bargain. Last year, the first 2015 'Stang raised $300,000 for the JDRF at the Barrett-Jackson sale, and the initial Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 brought in $650,000 for charity. You can read Ford's entire announcement about the event below. FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO SELL NEW SHELBY GT350 MUSTANG AT BARRETT-JACKSON SCOTTSDALE AUCTION TO BENEFIT JDRF First publicly available production unit of the all-new Shelby GT350® Mustang to be auctioned by Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, with all proceeds benefiting JDRF Winning bidder will be able to choose from available colors and packages for Shelby GT350 Ford-sponsored ride-and-drives during the auction will feature a full lineup of 2015 vehicles Ford Motor Company will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Shelby GT350 Mustang by auctioning the first production unit of the new-generation car available to the public for charity at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. All proceeds will benefit JDRF, the country's leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. Live coverage of the auction of the Shelby GT350 will air on Velocity on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. The winning bidder of lot No. 3008 – selling at No Reserve – will become owner of the coveted first retail production unit of Ford Shelby GT350, and choose from available Shelby GT350 colors and packages. In January 1964, Carroll Shelby and Ford Motor Company forever altered the automotive industry with the introduction of the GT350. It was offered through Ford dealers from 1965 through 1970.
For thousands of US auto workers, the downturn is already here
Thu, Jun 22 2017LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Wall Street is fretting that the auto industry is heading for a downturn, but for thousands of workers at General Motors factories in the United States, the hard times are already here. Matt Streb, 36, was one of 1,200 workers laid off on Jan. 20 - inauguration day for President Donald Trump - when GM canceled the third shift at its Lordstown small-car factory here. Sales of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan, the only vehicle the plant makes, have nosedived as consumers switch to SUVs and pickup trucks. Streb is looking for another job, but employers are wary because they assume he will quit whenever GM calls him back. "I get it," said Streb, who has a degree in communications, "but it's frustrating." Layoffs at Lordstown and other auto plants point to a broader challenge for the economy in Midwestern manufacturing states and for the Trump administration. "This is about economics, not what Trump says. Even if Trump went out and bought 10,000 Cruzes a month, he wouldn't get the third shift back here." The auto industry's boom from 2010 through last year was a major driver for manufacturing job creation. The fading of that boom threatens prospects for US industrial output and job creation that were central to Trump's victory in Ohio and other manufacturing states. "This is about economics, not what Trump says," said Robert Morales, president of United Auto Workers (UAW) union Local 1714, which represents workers at GM's stamping plant at Lordstown. "Even if Trump went out and bought 10,000 Cruzes a month, he wouldn't get the third shift back here." Last week the Federal Reserve said factory output fell 0.4 percent in May, the second decline in three months, due partly to a 2 percent drop in motor vehicles and parts production. Mark Muro, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, has compiled data from government sources that show the auto industry punching higher than its weight in job creation in recent years - accounting for between 60 percent and 80 percent of all US manufacturing jobs added in 2015 and 2016. In the first quarter of this year, the auto industry accounted for less than 2 percent of the 45,000 manufacturing jobs created. "There's no argument with the idea that auto has been pulling the manufacturing sled up the mountain for the last three or four years," Muro said.
Ford nets $924M in first quarter
Wed, Apr 29 2015Where General Motors' first-quarter 2015 financials showed growth in many major metrics, Ford's newly released numbers had falling figures in most of the vital categories. The automaker's Q1 revenue shrank to $33.9 billion, down $2 billion, and net income fell to $924 million, a $65-million drop. However, pre-tax profits increased slightly to $1.4 billion, $24 million more than in the same period in 2014, and operating margin rose to 3.6 percent, up 0.2 percent. Despite the less-than-stellar numbers, the Blue Oval thinks 2015 should be positive for the company. "The first quarter was a good start to a year in which our results will grow progressively stronger as the new products we have been launching start to pay off," CEO Mark Fields said in the financial announcement. The automaker has 15 vehicles to launch globally this year, and only three of them are already out. By the end of 2015, Ford predicts pre-tax profits of between $8.5 billion and $9.5 billion. In terms of vehicle sales, Ford slipped by 21,000 to a total of 1.568 million worldwide in the first quarter. North American sales dropped to 678,000, which was 39,000 less than last year, and pre-tax profits fell to $1.34 billion, a $160-million fall. The company explained the reductions on this continent as linked to the launches of the latest F-150 and Edge. In other major markets, European wholesales grew to 376,000 vehicles, a 9,000-car boost from last year. Pre-tax results there increased by $9 million, but the area still showed an overall loss of $185 million. In the Asia Pacific region, Ford moved 16,000 more units than in Q1 2014 to reach 366,000. However, due in part to preparing for new vehicles, the company only made $103 million there, a $188-million drop. The automaker released all of these figures as part of a PDF, which you can download here. Related Video:
