2004 Ford Explorer Xlt...4.0l V6...4x4...needs Work, But Really Nice on 2040-cars
Mount Holly, New Jersey, United States

Listed for sale is this  2004 Ford Explorer XLT with approximately 119K miles.  The vehicle is in very good condition inside and out.  The interior shows some wear and tear, but the leather seats and carpet are free of rips.  Front seats could use some leather cleaner, but the rest of the seats look almost new.  The exterior is also in very good condition.  There is paint peeling from the end of the hood caused by the wind visor that was recently moved.  Overall, I rate the interior a 7.5, and the exterior an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.
The vehicle will need some mechanical work.  Installed what was believed to be a good transmission about 3 weeks.  Once the transmission was installed, the vehicle shifted perfectly, but it had no park.  It would rolled if the vehicle was not on a flat surface, but all the other gears worked perfectly.  Now, the reverse only works some of the time.  I had several mechanics said this has to do with the linkage, which could be caused if the transmission wasn't installed properly.  The vehicle belongs to my uncle whose almost certain the transmission he purchased was good, but that it wasn't installed.  My uncle happens to be a mechanic; however, he didn't install the transmission.  He's not sure what he wants to do with the vehicle, and asked if I would list it on EBay for him.  The car was just recently serviced and tuned-up.  In addition, both catalytic convertors were replaced; so the vehicle sound a little louder than normal. However, both O2 sensors will need to be replaced. This is a very nice vehicle overall, which is worth repairing.  Again, he doesn't believe it's the transmission, but he's not 100% sure.  However, he did get a quote for another transmission and installation, which came up to approximately $900 to $1000.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  Thanks and Good Luck! NOTE:  $300 Deposit due within 24 hours and full payment in 3 days.    |

Watch Ken Block play traffic cop in ’Top Gear’ teaser
Tue, Dec 26 2017BBC is teasing a new series of 'Top Gear' starring the rally racer and Hoonigans honcho Ken Block and promising that series 25 is "coming soon." Block plays a police officer (with a Los Angeles Police Department badge, no less) in an off-road 4x4 vehicle in the 30-second clip, jumping off obstacles and tearing through dirt in an industrial area near snow-capped mountains. He gives chase to show hosts Matt LeBlanc, in a yellow Ford Mustang, Rory Reid and Chris Harris, who steers a McLaren 570S. It looks like they're having more fun that the rest of us. LeBlanc has said the next season of episodes will aim to attract a younger, more diverse audience with more comedy. Series 25 is expected to launch in spring, perhaps after the wrap-up of the second season of 'The Grand Tour.'Related Video: Celebrities TV/Movies Ford McLaren Off-Road Vehicles Performance Top Gear Ken Block
How that awesome Mustang R/C car chase vid was made
Tue, 06 Aug 2013We've reported on a few R/C car chase videos in the past. One in particular that stands out as a favorite is Zach King's "The Cliché RC Action Chase." It featured a pair of Ford Mustang coupes racing through a cardboard city, plowing into outdoor patios and busting through construction zones. It was wonderfully creative and fun to watch, yet we know there was more to its creation than a bunch of guys fooling around with a camera one afternoon.
Turns out we were right, as evidenced by this video produced by Ford that takes us behind the scenes of Zach's creation. The young filmmaker explains why he chose the Mustang to star in his video, as well as how the cardboard sets were created, what equipment they used for shooting and what it was like when his video went viral. Ford found the young filmmaker and produced the followup as part of its Mustang Countdown video series, which will see a new video about the Mustang culture released every week until the original muscle car's anniversary on April 17, 2014.
Want to make an RC chase video of your own? Yeah, we do too. Watch the behind-the-scenes video below (you can refresh yourself on the mini feature film, too) before you get started.
Camouflaged Shelby GT350 seen on the street
Fri, Mar 27 2015The Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang made a grand debut at the 2014 LA Auto Show, and its more extreme GT350R sibling bowed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. With the order guides already leaked and the R lapping the Nurburgring in a claimed 7:32.19, many of the big questions about the high-performance pony cars have already been answered. However, when they aren't showing up at events, Ford apparently still sees reason to keep the models fully camouflaged on the street. Case in point: this recent video showing off one in testing. With the design already fully unveiled, there's not much left to spy under all of the concealment. This short clip does provide a real-world opportunity to hear the song of the 5.2-liter V8 with its flat-plane crank, though. As a development car nothing here is final, but based on this video, Ford is definitely making sure the Shelby's engine sounds great. Related Video:
