For sale is the Beast of the Southeast.  This 2003 Ford Excursion is a head turner.  It is a fully equipped Excursion Limited with all the bells and whistles of the top of the line Excursion from the factory; such as Power driver and Passenger seats, rear seat DVD, Power windows, cruise control, leather seats, 3rd row seating, and heated front seats.

This isn't you average everyday mild suburban cruiser.   This is a head-turning, attention getting beast that was transformed into a monster using the finest parts and accessories.  The engine has been "bulletproofed" with Sinister's Complete Solution kit which included the following:

  • ARP head studs instead of the Ford OEM head bolts which stretch on the 6.0 and allow head gasket failure
  • Black Onyx 18mm Head gaskets
  • EGR Delete
  • Ford OEM oil cooler and oil screen
  • Ford OEM intake and Exhaust gaskets.
Other engine maintenance and upgrades include:

  • Sinister coolant filter kit
  • Suncoast auxiliary transmission filter
  • New OEM starter
  • New alternator
  • New OEM injectors (other six were power balanced and tested good)
  • Ford OEM ICP sensor
  • Ford OEM Glow plugs
  • Ford OEM Glow plug wiring harness
  • 8x OEM injector o-rings
  • New turbo bolts
  • 6.4L fuel rail banjo bolts and washers
  • 6.4L fuel pressure spring upgrade kit
  • Turbo was opened up and vanes were lubed/cleaned to ensure everything spins freely
Over $6000 was spent on the engine correcting all of the issues with the 6.0L and making this engine a damn reliable everyday driver.  All engine work was completed less than 30k miles ago and I have the receipts if you'd like to go over them.

Most would stop there with what would be considered a completely durable and reliable grocery grabber knowing the motor is good to go for the long haul.  However.......that would not be a BEAST.

The following were added while the beast transformed

  • Donahoe Racing 7" lift kit with Bilstein 5100 shocks, including dual front shock upgrade
  • Donahoe Racing dual front steering stabilizer
  • 22X14 Fuel Octane wheels in mat black
  • 37x13.50R22 Toyo Open Country MT's that are surprisingly quiet
  • Road Armor front bumper with new fairlead and D-Hooks
  • Mile Marker 12,000lb winch
  • Warn Hubs
  • ARB air lockers for front and rear differential with on-board compressor
  • Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 rear air springs connected to onboard compressor
  • 4" MagnaFlow turbo back exhaust with Chrome 5" tip
  • AFE cold air intake
  • BullyDog PMT
  • 2005 excursion front end conversion with OEM header panel and Harley Davidson Headlights
  • Kleinn air horn kit with compressor and air tank mounted on frame with "trucker style" chain pull (150 decibel train horns stealthed behind front bumper)
  • Mag-Hytec high capacity rear differential cover
  • Superlift TruSpeed speed sensor calibration
  • Brand New Hawk LTS brake pads with fresh brake fluid
  • 20% ceramic tint on front windows
  • 10" drop hitch
  • Spyntec free spin front axel upgrade with 1.5", 35 spine, chromoly axel stubs and packable serviceable bearings (if youve had a truck with large tires, you've replaced unit bearings.  This is the $2500 permanent fix)

This truck is 10 years old and has some wear and tear associated with a 10 year old truck.
  • there is a scratch on drivers side in the clear coat (not to metal)
  • the 6 disk CD changer has a CD stuck in it so it is not functinal.  The radio and DVD player still work GREAT
  • The Retractable running boards would short and default to retracted which isn't a nice drop for my 5ft tall wife from an 8ft tall truck.
    • I unplugged them and they are now permanently down.  You could get motors cleaned and they would likely work just fine.  I just never saw the point
  • The forward edge of the "limited trim" is pealing and needs new backing tape.  Its only about 4" and not going anywhere but I felt worth mentioning.
I am selling because I have want a 2012 jeep to be a project for me and my sons to build.  Wife says this toy must go before next project begins and I must admit that is likely a good example to set for the boys.

This truck will be missed here and will make someone extremely happy and popular in and around town for many many thousands of miles to come.

Weekly Recap: Marchionne's Manifesto again calls for industry consolidation

Sat, May 2 2015

Sergio Marchionne isn't taking no for an answer. Despite public rebuffs from General Motors and Ford, the leader of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles continues to push for consolidation within the auto industry. His latest assertion came Wednesday when he said a combination of FCA with another automaker could net savings of $5 billion or more annually. No, this isn't about selling his company, he claimed, it's about cutting costs. Put simply, the auto industry wastes money, Marchionne said during FCA's earnings conference call. Companies invest billions to develop basic components that all cars use, but many consumers don't care how they work or recognize the differences. "About half of this is really relevant in terms of positioning the car in the marketplace," he said. "The other half, in our view, is stuff which is neither visible to the consumer nor is it relevant to the consumer." In 2014, top automakers spent more than $100 million on product development, FCA estimated. Marchionne said consolidation could save up to $1 billion on powertrains alone, noting that almost every automaker offers four- and six-cylinder engines. Not everyone has to make their own, he contended. "The consumer could not give a flying leap whose engines we are using because they are irrelevant to the buying decision." That's pretty provocative for enthusiasts, but less so for average consumers. Still, there are major differences in power and efficiency ratings, even among similar engines. Skeptics could argue consolidation would also weaken competition and reduce choices for car buyers. Marchionne stressed his presentation, curiously entitled Confessions of a Capital Junkie, wouldn't require closing factories or dealerships. It's not his final "big deal" as CEO, intent to sell FCA, or a way to elevate his company up the automotive food chain. He claims he wants to fundamentally change the industry and its habit for burning cash. "The horrible part about this, and the thing that I find most offensive, is that the capital consumption rate is duplicative," he said. "It doesn't deliver real value to the consumer and it is in its purest form, economic waste." Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with

Mon, 12 May 2014

Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.
