This truck is in great condition!  I bought it from a very good friend in April 2009 because I knew how meticulous he is about everything he owned.  He kept it impeccably maintained and garage kept at work and at home.  Since I've owned it, I've strived to maintain this truck in the same manner that I knew my friend had.  For example, aside from purchasing Michelin LTX tires from a different vendor, I've had the same mechanic at my local Ford dealership perform all maintenance on this vehicle.   I've been able to keep it garaged approximately 1/2 of the time that I've owned it.

Specs of Interest - in addition to the specs already provided:
  • Purchased in 2000, the original owner lived in Oklahoma and Texas
  • I purchased it in 2009 and live in Wilmington, DE
  • New dealer installed Ford V10 engine at 82,410 miles.  The existing engine, therefore, has only 112,237 miles on it.
  • Upgraded 2006 Ford Superduty headlamps
  • Upgraded 2006 Ford Superduty chrome grill
  • Upgraded interior wood trim kit
  • Doesn't leak a drop of engine fluids
  • New Rancho Adjustable Shocks
Notes:
  • Dent in front bumper
  • Small amount of surface rust found along some chipped paint on driver side door edge and rear door hinge.
  • Rust on Receiver Hitch
  • Some wear and small tears in leather on driver's seat.  All leather and materials on the other seats are in great condition.
  • Service records on hand from Fred Jones Ford in Edmond, OK, Payton Wright Ford in Grapevine, TX (both dealerships the previous owner used) and Garnet Ford in West Chester, PA (my local Ford dealer).
If you are serious about purchasing this truck, I'll be happy to put you in contact with my Ford mechanic - he LOVES this truck and always remarks at how well it's been maintained over the years!  I've not ignored a thing with regards to mechanical maintenance recommended for this truck. It runs and rides like an Excursion with very low mileage!  BID with confidence - this truck will stack up favorably to ANY other Excursion for sale. It is simply TIGHT!

I've describe this truck as best as I know how.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I'd welcome anyone to come see and drive this truck.

Hurricane Sandy cost automakers 15,000 vehicles, may have ruined up to 200k

Wed, 07 Nov 2012

Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic storm in US history, and its total economic impact is just now coming into view. According to Automotive News, Toyota, Chrysler, Nissan and Honda are set to scrap around 15,000 new vehicles ruined by the storm. Nissan alone accounts for about 40 percent of those, with 6,000 Nissan and Infiniti models deeded "un-saleable" due to damage. The company saw 56 dealerships shuttered due to the storm, but 51 of those have since reopened.
Toyota, meanwhile, had some 4,000 vehicles at its Newark port facility, and of those, 3,000 may be scrapped. An additional 825 were dealer inventory when they were ruined. Honda and Acura dealers are reportedly sending 3,440 vehicles to the salvage yard. By comparison, Chrysler weathered the storm fairly well with 825 units destroyed, while Hyundai suffered only 400 lost units and Kia scrapped around 200.
As you may recall, Fisker also suffered some losses, and Automotive News reports the manufacturer saw 320 Karma models damaged beyond repair. Ford and General Motors have yet to come up with estimates, and no automaker has commented on the full cost of replacing the vehicles.

Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.

Ford Mustang outsold Audi TT and Porsche 911 in Germany

Fri, Apr 8 2016

Despite being the antithesis of the cars Germany is known for, the new Ford Mustang was the best selling sports car in the land of schnitzel and beer last month by a whisker. The Mustang beat out the Audi TT by 780 units to 708, and it beat Germany's best known performance car, the Porsche 911, 780 to 752. That makes some sense, right? The Mustang has to be cheaper than those competitors, right? Not really. Both the EcoBoost and V8-powered Mustang have higher starting prices than the equivalent TT. The 2.3-liter, EcoBoost-powered Mustang starts at 38,000 euros (around $43,300 at today's rates), while the front-drive Audi TT starts at 35,950 euros (about $41,000). The V8-powered Mustang GT, meanwhile, starts at 43,000 euros (about $49,000), which is just 2,550 euros more than the Quattro-equipped TT. When 310 horsepower or 435 hp can be had for just a couple thousand more than 220 hp, it's easy to understand the Mustang's success. The 911, of course, is a lot more expensive than the Mustang. You can buy two Mustang GTs for the price of a single Carrera. But Ford also managed to beat out the Porsche's smaller siblings, the Boxster and Cayman twins, which sold a combined 642 vehicles. Again, the pony car is significantly cheaper, but that doesn't do much to lessen the impact of the Mustang's victory. If you're in Germany and are concerned about this American invasion, you shouldn't be (yet). The TT is Germany's best-selling sports car from January through March, with 2,299 to the Ford's 1,823. Porsche is breathing down the pony car's neck, too, with 1,811 units in 2016. It'll be interesting to see if Ford's successful March carries on into the rest of 2016. Related Video:
