I am a CSA certified CNG cylinder inspector.  I have been dealing in CNG vehicles for 7+ years.  All cylinders are inspected for damage in accordance with 3yr/36,000 mile guidelines so bid with confidence.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions as I am always happy to assist.  631-871-3459 (Seth).

·  This hard to find 2004 Ford E250 Dedicated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Cargo van.  Equipped with the reliable and powerful 5.4L Triton V8 engine and automatic transmission.  This is a one owner fleet maintained utility vehicle.  ONLY 84K Miles! BEWARE of people selling vehicles with untested/unfilled or empty CNG systems.  CNG system functions.  This vehicle has been filled with CNG and test driven 150+ miles.  This vehicle is super economical to drive with CNG priced under $1.00 a gal in many areas.  State tax credit still available (Utah and other states that offer tax credits).

What is CNG???

Compressed Natural Gas or CNG, is one of nature's best untapped energy sources.  Unlike fossil fuels, it is constantly produced by the earth and can also me synthesized through chemical processes.  Cyber_lot. The technology has been around for decades but until recently has been kept in the closet by big oil!  It is one of the fastest growing alternative fuel sources and unlike biodiesel and ethanol (E85), is a viable replacement for petroleum.  Within the next 10 years 90% of gov't fleets will be CNG and civilian population will follow over the next 20 yrs.

Why should I buy a CNG/Bi Fuel Vehicle?

  • SAVE MONEY!  CNG is about 1/3 less than reguar unleaded and more stable in price.  AS LOW AS 99 CENTS PER GAL IN SOME AREAS!
  • CNG burns with practically no emissions compared to petroleum fuel so each mile you drive helps the environment....THINK GREEN
  • CNG is safer (less volatile) than gasoline as it has a higher ignition temp, 1200 deg vs 800 deg.
  • CNG poses little if any environment risk of contamination and in the event of an accident where tanks are breached, it evaporates into the air with no spill Cyber_lot
  • CNG fill stations are growing more and more each day.  Check the links below for fill station locations across the US.
  • You can fill up at home using a Phil Fuelmaker device if you have a natural gas line.  Cyber_lot No more trips to the gas station.  Tax deductible.
  • Most states allow you to drive solo in the HOV lane.
  • CNG is not corrosive like gasoline and wears MUCH easier on a motor.  Most CNG fueled engines require oil changes less frequently and sparkplugs last almost forever.  Overall engine life is usually significantly extended.  Cyber_lot
  • Unlike hybrid electric/gas cars, there are no costly batteries ($6000) to replace
  • Unlike hybrid electric vehicles, the CNG drivetrain is the same as the gasoline counterpart and can be serviced by most mechanics.  Cyber_lot.  Only the CNG fuel system requires specially trained service technicians.
  • There may be tax credits/deductions available for CNG vehicle owners and for the purchase of a Phil Fuelmaker (check with IRS and state tax authorities)
  • Be the first person in your town to sport a CNG ride.  Cyber_lot Almost always a conversation starter when you open the trunk!

NO knocks, NO smoke, NO dripping engine leaks.  Underside of engine is dry as you can see in the pics.  Transmission shifts into and through all gears smoothly as it should.  Has proper acceleration and cruises at highway speed.  The 5.4L Triton V8 is one of the most durable and efficient 8cyl engines Ford produced and should easily last 300K+ miles with proper maintenance.  This was a fleet maintained vehicle with regular servicing, including oil changes at proper intervals.

Exterior

Paint has most of its factory shine as you can see.  No major dents or rot on the body.  There are dings, scrapes, scratches, and minor blemishes throughout the body.  There is a small crease on the corner of the driver front fender, a crease and scratch on the driver side, and a scrape on the lower front passenger door.  Please keep in mind this is not a showroom new but in decent condition for a work van.  Has roof racks and working amber strobe beacon.

Interior is in good condition with average wear.  Seats are in good condition with no rip or tears in fabric but some light stains.  The vinyl has some cracking on the side panel of driver seat.  There are a couple tiny holes drilled in the center console where some small electronics were mounted.  There are some scuffs on the plastic interior panels as you can see in the pics.  Interior is fresh and clean and has been detailed.  A/C blows cold and heat blows hot.

Wheels and Tires

·  Tires have approx 75%+ tread remaining.  Matching set of factory Ford hubcaps.

CNG System

I have fueled up with CNG and not observed any leaks.  Everything looks to be in order and system holds pressure as it should.

I have test driven this vehicle over 150 miles and it should have no problem going anywhere.  I have tried to describe the condition to the best of my ability but this is merely a guideline and repairs may be required.  I do recommend having this vehicle shipped due to the limited availability of CNG stations in some areas.  As I recommend to all my customers, you should have your mechanic look over any newly purchased vehicle before extensive use.  I have tried to list as many details about this vehicle as I can, including known defects.  There may be deficiencies that I am not aware of so buyers are encouraged to inspect in person.  FAILURE OF PROSPECTIVE BUYERS TO INSPECT VEHICLE OR ASK FOR CLARIFICATION ON CONDITION WILL NOT CONSTITUTE NON-DISCLOSURE OF DEFECTS OR CONDITION ON SELLERS PART.  This was previously a fleet/lease vehicle and may have greater wear and tear than private vehicles.  Vehicle is otherwise sold as-is and where is with no warranty express of implied.  If you are local I encourage and welcome you to come down and test drive the car for yourself or have an independent inspection completed PRIOR to bidding.  There will be no price adjustments or cancellation of sale for failure to do so.  I am happy to answer any questions so feel free to e-mail me or call.

Bosch fined $57.8 million by DOJ for price fixing and bid rigging

Tue, Mar 31 2015

The US Department of Justice has been investigating bid rigging and price fixing among automotive parts suppliers for years, and so far the agency has leveled nearly $2.5 billion in fines against 34 companies. The latest business to be caught in this ongoing crackdown is Germany's Robert Bosch GmbH (Bosch), the world's largest independent auto component maker, and it agrees to pay a $57.8 million criminal fine to the Feds. According to the DOJ, Bosch has agreed to plead guilty to pricing fixing and bid rigging for spark plugs and oxygen sensors supplied to the former DaimlerChrysler, Ford and General Motors. The rigging is said to have occurred between January 2000 and July 2011. Bosch also allegedly played foul with starter motors sold to Volkswagen from January 2009 until at least June 2010. Bosch and other companies allegedly conspired on the pricing for bids to submit to automakers, and sold the parts at noncompetitive prices. The DOJ filed a one-count felony charge in US District Court for these actions. The company's plea is still subject to court approval, though. Bosch is only the third European company to be charged in this investigation, according to the DOJ. So far, many of the fined businesses have been from Japan, including Takata, NGK and others. Some execs have claimed price-fixing has been the standard operating procedure in the auto parts industry for a long time. Robert Bosch GmbH Agrees to Plead Guilty to Price Fixing and Bid Rigging on Automobile Parts Installed in U.S. Cars Robert Bosch GmbH, the world's largest independent parts supplier to the automotive industry, based in Gerlingen, Germany, has agreed to plead guilty and to pay a $57.8 million criminal fine for its role in a conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for spark plugs, oxygen sensors and starter motors sold to automobile and internal combustion engine manufacturers in the United States and elsewhere, the Department of Justice announced today. According to the one-count felony charge filed today in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan, Bosch conspired to allocate the supply of, rig bids for, and to fix, stabilize and maintain the prices of, spark plugs and oxygen sensors sold to automobile and internal combustion engine manufacturers such as DaimlerChrysler AG, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company and Andreas Stihl AG & Co., among others, in the United States and elsewhere.

24 Hours of Le Mans live update part one

Sat, Jun 18 2016

We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice with a profanity-laden stream-of-consciousness writing style. Parker lives in Hawaii and spends far more time spearfishing than behind the wheel of a car. Jump ahead to Part Two here, and Part Three here. Big Money and billionaire hobbyists and rockets on wheels. Jets belching French color smoke overhead. Balance of power fuckery. Plenty of water on the ground this morning. Absurdly expensive motorcars lined up in the pissing rain. Fast twitch lunatics behind the wheel. Chomping at the bit. Let's go let's go let's go! Race hasn't even started, Ford #67 maybe dealing with clutch issues. Karma? That beautiful bastard Brad Pitt's out on the track, waving the tricolor flag. It's a standing start in "Noah's Ark" weather and the 2016 24 hours of Le Mans is go! First lap takes place behind the safety car, finished in a record setting 8 minutes 27 seconds. Wrong kind of record maybe, but this is the first time I've set my mind to watching the whole damn race. Feel like I'm part of history. 3:00 AM on Kauai, a little too early for life. Sucking down coffee like a maniac. Don't fall back asleep. Got my hands on four hours of rest, how much more can I need? Better be enough for the next twenty four hours. Gonna get kinda punchy toward the end. Jason Statham on the scene. Four feet of solid muscle, non-existent hairline. Lovely wife peanut gallery sitting next to me calls him the "best race car drive in the world." Not sure if she's serious. Toss up, could go either way. Statham's a funny guy. Heir to the Bruce Willis comedy action crown. Really good in the movie where the fat comedy lady plays a spy. Ford's on the road. Problems with gearbox pressure, apparently. Nearing a half hour in and the safety car is still on the track. Hellish amounts of water on the ground, in the air. Visibility is garbage. Getting better. Twitter wags, "Not with a bang but a whimper." Just building suspense. Mother Nature felt like killing some people today, race officials need to dial back the drivers until it dries a tad. Normal inclination would've seen 'em flying, guaranteed early lap wrecks. Sad news for that bloodthirsty part of my lizard brain I try and keep suppressed. Good news for humanity. #12 in the pit for a bit.

Ford forced to recall Escape over fire risk yet again

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

Recalls happen. Automakers hope they won't, but they do. And that's alright, for the most part, because cars are designed (and to a large degree still made) by humans, and humans make mistakes. So we forgive them, as long as the problem is resolved. Only in the case of the Ford Escape, the problem seems to keep coming back.
That's why Ford is calling in the Escape yet again due to fire concerns. The issue revolves around problematic fuel lines in 9,469 units manufactured between October 5, 2011, and July 11, 2012, all of which use the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine.
As you yourself may recall, the Escape was subject to a string of recalls last year that resulted in a $17 million fine. One of them was over this very same issue, which Ford apparently didn't rectify the first time around. Let's hope this time is the last time.
