Hi there and thanks for your interest in my conversion van. My name is Rich and I am selling my 1997 Ford E-350 Conversion Van. Let me start by sharing my past history on E-Bay, I have sold probably 7-8 vehicles on Ebay in the past 6-7 years. I have had great success doing so because I have always been up-front and honest about the cars I have sold. Please read the reviews I have gotten on any one of these sales. They are all perfect responses and 2-3 of them have come from out of state buyers that have flown in to Chicago and drove home. One from Oklahoma and one from Texas.
Now about the Van, it is a 1997 Ford E-350 Conversion Van. The Van has 148,612 miles on it and is in excellent condition. The van has the following equipment-- power steering, power brakes, windows, door locks and seats. It is a cloth interior, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, front and rear heating and air conditioning. The van also has a center console and behind that console is a flat screen t.v with a dvd player ( great for kids ) .The van has a tan cloth interior with 2 captains chairs in front and 2 behind. There is no third bench behind the center captains chairs so there is seating for 4. I bought the van that way and found that using the back space was more important to haul hockey equipment and band equipment as I did so often. If you have a desire for a bench seat in back one can be puchased for a reasonable amount and of course bolted down and good to go!
The  van runs perfect and I cannot think of anything that does not work properly even all of the gauges work. The body is very nice with very minimal rust over the back wheel wells. You can not even see the rust in the pics as it is very little. There is not one dent or ding on the body to speak of. The tires still have plenty of thread and the van runs excellent! The van also has a very expensive alarm system and remote start which works perfectly..The interior is very clean both carpeting and seats. I took as many pictures as I thought neccesary.
Please if you are interested in this van there will be "no reserve" so the highest bidder will win the auction.I ask that you are 100 percent sure that you want and will buy this van should you win! It will not be fair to you,me or the rest of the interested parties that bid. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me and I will be glad to answer any questions as honestly as I can. Again  my name is Rich and I live in Park Ridge Illinois which is right  outside of Chicago and 5 minutes from Ohare airport.Good luck and bid with confidence.   Thank You    Rich

2015 Ford S-Max adds all-wheel drive, adaptive steering

Fri, 03 Oct 2014

The Blue Oval's 'One Ford' mantra has seen rapid commonization of the automaker's products across markets, but North America still has to look from afar at most of the company's Max-branded people movers, including this new S-Max. That's a bit of a shame - we like the space efficiency and above-average driving dynamics of the C-Max models we do get, but seeing this updated seven-seat small minivan makes us want the One Ford initiative to extend even further.
The new model's changes include an updated powertrain range including a 1.5-liter EcoBoost four with 158 horsepower, and a larger, 237-horsepower, 2.0-liter model, along with a pair of revised lower-emissions 2.0-liter diesels. The big news, however, is the advent of available all-wheel drive, something that hasn't been offered since the S-Max first went on sale back in 2006.
On the technology front, the S-Max is the first European model to receive Ford Adaptive Steering, a variable-ratio technology we recently sampled in a prototype Fusion that is expected to go into production on the next-generation Edge. The S-Max also receives a new aluminum-intensive integral link rear suspension, packaged to continue to fit up to 32 different seating combinations. Safety equipment is always a prime concern in kinschleppers like the S-Max, and to that end, this new model receives pre-collision assist technology and LED headlamps.

Malcolm Gladwell reflects on engineering, recalls, and compromise

Thu, Apr 30 2015

Journalist Malcolm Gladwell has made a career taking on big, complicated topics and humanizing them to make the unwieldy understandable. He has already done this in bestsellers like The Tipping Point and Outliers, and now he has brought the same approach to automotive recalls in a long piece for The New Yorker. The article titled The Engineer's Lament is framed around an interview with the former head of Ford's recall office about the famous Ford Pinto campaign where the position of the compact's fuel tank could cause it to explode in rear-end collisions. Plus, there are detours into Toyota's unintended acceleration cases and the General Motors ignition switch problem. While all the history is illuminating, the heart of the story comes from an examination at the thought process of engineers, and how their thinking differs from other professions. Gladwell comes off as sympathetic to auto engineers in this piece. While he admits that they often approach problems in a sterile way, the writer doesn't try point that out as a failing. It's merely a fact to be understood. The story itself is quite lengthy, but well worth a read if you have the time for an insiders view into how these recalls are assessed on the inside.

Hot-selling Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator get production boost

Mon, Feb 12 2018

Ford is investing an additional $25 million in its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville to increase by 25 percent production of the hot-selling and all-new Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs. The investment adds to $900 million in previously announced spending at the plant, which also builds F-Series Super-Duty pickups and employs 8,400 workers. Assembly-line workers are putting in overtime and working voluntary weekend shifts to keep up with demand. The new investment will cover upgrades to the assembly line but does not involve further hiring, Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker says. The popularity of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator is a bright spot as Ford stock has been battered by Wall Street amid concerns concerns about the automaker's future vision and slowness to detect trends. Ford says the investment is an example of its bid to improve "operational fitness," one of CEO Jim Hackett's common refrains. Ford says Navigator retail sales more than doubled in January, and Navigators are spending an average of just seven days on Lincoln dealership lots as customers trade in vehicles including Land Rovers and Mercedes-Benz. Nearly 85 percent of buyers are opting for high-end Black Label and Reserve trim packages, contributing to an average transaction price increase of more than $21,000 in January compared to a year ago. The 2018 Navigator won the North American Truck of the Year award and also topped a Detroit News poll of public favorites at last month's Detroit Auto Show. Sales of the Expedition, meanwhile, were up almost 57 percent last month as the full-size SUVs also spent an average of just a week on dealer lots. Platinum trim models represented 29 percent of sales, pushing transaction price increases up $7,800. Ford gave the 2018 Expedition an all-aluminum body to save mass in its first significant redesign since 2007. The plant last year got nearly 400 new robots, mainly in the body shop, to help increase line speed, and Ford added a robot lab where employees can test software tweaks or troubleshoot issues away from the factory floor. The Louisville plant also benefits from extensive new data analytics, with seven big-screen monitors providing minute-by-minute updates showing progress against hourly targets or alerting workers to pending parts shortages. A huge spare-parts "vending machine" lets workers more quickly locate needed parts and keep inventory at necessary levels.
