This 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is a one owner vehicle from a local municipal police department who purchased the vehicle new and well maintained the unit until the time we obtained it from them. The car has 84289 miles on its certified odometer/speedometer, this car was in service until a short time before we picked it up from them. The car is in excellent condition inside and out, our in house service staff went over and inspected and serviced the car and as such the car now has new Pennsylvania Safety and Emissions Inspection Stickers good until 10/2014. This car runs and drives 100%, you can drive the car away today and it needs nothing.

Everything on this car works as it should, all of the power door locks and windows work, the rear window defroster works, even the overhead report light is in the car and works. We have left much of the original police equipment in the car including the center console, the computer stand and mounting hardware, the cage including gun locks for both a shotgun and a carbine and we have left the barrier bars on the back windows as well. We can leave the unit as is or remove the items for the new buyer if they don't want them in the car, the choice is yours. The lock rods and the hardware kit is included for the rear doors should the owner want to hook them back up, the hardware is new. The seats in the car look to be in great condition, the rear is almost like new and the front does not have the normal rips and tears from being in service and the officers duty gear. The floors are rubber and are nearly perfect, the dash area is not torn up or full of holes and the steering wheel is in nice condition.

The exterior of the car is in very good condition, the car also has the exterior spot light on the drivers side which also works. There are a few minor scratches and only one or two very minor dents on the vehicle. The car has the standard steel wheels and the rest of the complete Ford P71 package, this is a true Police Interceptor. It has a 200 amp alternator, limited slip rear differential, dual exhaust, sway bars and a heavy duty frame, wheels and suspension and oil and transmission coolers.

This is a very nice car at a good price, this car averaged only a bit over 12,000 miles per year which is low for a normal car, let alone a police vehicle. This is a great opportunity for someone who has wanted one of these cars to get one in very good condition with good mileage. This car could go back in service tomorrow and needs nothing. These cars are made to run well over 200,000 miles, this car could very easily do that and then some. The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors are getting harder to find, nice cars are even harder. Many police departments are keeping their cars until the bitter end since Ford stopped production in 2011.

Ford using robot drivers to test durability [w/video]

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

In testing the durability of its upcoming fullsize Transit vans, Ford has begun using autonomous robotic technology to pilot vehicles through the punishing courses of its Michigan Proving Grounds test facility. The autonomous tech allows Ford to run more durability tests in a single day than it could with human drivers, as well as create even more challenging tests that wouldn't be safe to run with a human behind the wheel.
The technology being used was developed by Utah-based Autonomous Solutions, and isn't quite like the totally autonomous vehicles being developed by companies like Google and Audi for use out in the real world. Rather, Ford's autonomous test vehicles follow a pre-programmed course and their position is tracked via GPS and cameras that are being monitored from a central control room. Though the route is predetermined, the robotic control module operates the steering, acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle on course as it drives over broken concrete, cobblestones, metal grates, rough gravel, mud pits and oversize speed bumps.
Scroll down to watch the robotic drivers in action, though be warned that you're headed for disappointment if you expect to see a Centurion behind the wheel (nerd alert!). The setup looks more like a Mythbusters experiment than a scene from Battlestar Galactica.

Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant

Sat, 20 Jul 2013

Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.

Rivian R1T, Mini Cooper Electric owners happiest with their EVs

Tue, Feb 28 2023

The J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study is out, and there's change at the top. With the swelling adoption of electric vehicles in the U.S. over in the past two years especially, the third year of the EVX study changes focus to first-time EV buyers. Those two factors encouraged change at the top of both premium and mass-market segments. Among premium EVs, the Rivian R1T pickup scored overall victory in its first year of eligibility with a satisfaction score of 794 out of 1,000. The Tesla Model 3 takes second place with 759 points. Tesla had won the top two premium spots in the study in 2021 and in 2022. The average score in the premium segment was 756. The Tesla Model Y (754), Audi E-Tron (735), and Polestar 2 (724) filled out the list of the five eligible models this year. Among the ten eligible mass-market vehicles, the Mini Cooper Electric nabbed the overall win by scoring 782. The Kia EV6 came second with 762 points, keeping Kia in the top two; the Kia Niro EV won the mass-market segment the previous two years. The Ford Mustang Mach-E (742), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (738), and Volkswagen ID.4 (735) completed the top five, the Niro EV (733) in sixth. All were above the segment average of 730. The four models fell below the segment average were the Ford F-150 Lightning (723), Chevrolet Bolt EUV (716), Chevrolet Bolt (711), and Nissan Leaf (698). How are the scores derived? J.D. Power worked with EV app maker and research firm PlugShare to get owner responses in ten areas: accuracy of stated battery range; availability of public charging stations; battery range; cost of ownership; driving enjoyment; ease of charging at home; interior and exterior styling; safety and technology features; service experience; and vehicle quality and reliability. Brent Gruber, executive director of the EV practice at J.D. Power, said, "Recent vehicle launches from both new brands and traditional automakers have had a profound effect on what factors are most important in the ownership experience. Today’s EV owners are looking for quality, reliability, driving enjoyment, safety and technology features." The Mini, in fact, scored highest of any premium and mass-market EV in the studyÂ’s highest-weighted index factor, quality and reliability.
