AWESOME 1975 FORD BRONCO CLASSIC...NICELY RESTORED, CALIFORNIA BORN AND RAISED...302 V8, AUTOMATIC, LIFTED WITH HARD TOP AND BIKINI TOP....READY TO SHOW AND GO!! HAVE YOU BEEN SEARCHING FOR A HIGH QUALITY, EYE-CATCHING EARLY BRONCO CLASSIC? WOULD YOU PREFER ONE THAT LIVED ITS LIFE IN CALIFORNIA AND WAS RUST FREE BEFORE IT WAS TREATED TO A VERY NICE COSMETIC RESTORATION AND WAS BUILT TO BE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED? WOULD YOU LOVE TO HAVE ONE THAT HAS BEEN SLIGHTLY LIFTED AND HAS A RUGGED STANCE WITHOUT LOSING ITS CLASSIC LOOK? DID YOU TELL YOURSELF THAT YOU WOULD MAKE SMART INVESTMENTS IN 2014 AND LIVE LIFE TO ITS FULLEST?? WELL, IF YOU ANSWERED YES TO ANY OF THE QUESTIONS ABOVE THEN THIS MAY BE THE EARLY BRONCO CLASSIC YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!! THIS RANGOON RED, CALIFORNIA BRONCO IS ONE YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE!! We acquired this sweet '75 Bronco last fall from a gentleman in Southern California who told us that this Bronco had been in his family since it was brand new. It was his Uncle's Bronco originally and was driven regularly for many years before the motor developed some issues and it was stored in a garage for many years. He loved these old Broncos and was able to buy it from his Uncle with the idea that he would restore it and get it back on the road. First thing he did was pull the original motor and have a completely rebuilt 302 V8 put in its place. Next up it was taken to a professional body shop that stripped the original paint before laying down a beautiful Base coat/Clear coat paint job in a beautiful Rangoon Red color. After that the original interior was completely refinished and upgraded. Once the big stuff was done, he continued to finish the Bronco with new exhaust, wheels/tires, etc. so that he could start enjoying it. This work was all completed about 1 1/2 years ago and he found that he just was not driving and enjoying it as much as he thought it would and decided it made sense to pass it on to the next lucky owner...maybe you?? I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video of it running and an honest description to help you decide if this is the Bronco you have been searching for. If you like what you see don't hesitate to call me to discuss the possibility of putting this sweet Bronco in your garage before the next car guy or gal scoops it up. Sit back and enjoy!! As you will see in the pics below the body on this '75 is in fantastic condition. Thanks in part no doubt to the fact that it was it has always been a California Bronco. The original DSO code is 72 meaning it was ordered by the San Jose, CA District sales office. We have the original Pink Slip title on this Blue Plate California Bronco showing it was originally sold October 15, 1974. The gentleman we acquired it from indicated that it still had most of its original dark brown paint on it that was badly faded but overall the body was just about rust free. His uncle had put front and rear fender flares on it many years ago and really all it needed was to be sanded down and treated to a nice paint job. The Bronco was disassembled before paint and there is no sign of the original color with all of the jams, under hood , etc. being painted. He always loved the Rangoon Red Color from older Ford Mustangs and I have to agree that it really suits this Bronco well and stands out form the bright red color you see on most. He had new fender flares put on and painted them body color. Body panel fit is excellent overall and as you will see the paint has tons of gloss to it. I noticed a few spots where some rock chips have been touched up but overall it looks great! There are also a couple of small spots where an over zealous detailer burned through the paint just slightly. I mainly saw this on an edge of the tailgate but I do not think you will be able to see it in the pics and it is really minor. Front grill has been painted silver and the red FORD letters really pop. New bumpers and emblems were added. You will see he put on Bronco Sport emblems but I am not sure if this was an original Sport Model because I think it would have more chrome trim if it was. Its possible he just removed the trim but I am not sure. Either way it looks awesome! We added a new Roll bar and bikini top and the way to enjoy these Broncos is top off with the sun in your face and wind in your hair. Windows were professionally tinted and glass all looks great. Weatherstripping was all replaced. We also added the black accent stripe on the hood which we felt added to the rugged look and also stops glare that you get off the hood. This Bronco will be right at home at the local shows and cruise-ins and should win its share of trophies if that is what you enjoy. Here is a walk around tour of the body: While my personal preference is to drive and enjoy these Broncos topless or with a bikini top, it is nice to know that this Rangoon Red Beauty also has a great hard top if needed. The hard top was repainted in a flat black at the same time as the rest of the truck was painted and the windows were all tinted to match at that time. The hard top is in great shape with the only minor flaw being a few paint chips. Here are some pics with the hard top on: Complimenting the awesome Rangoon Red exterior is a fantastic, completely redone black interior. Basically everything was redone inside and the interior looks practically brand new. Custom carpet kit was nicely installed as were custom rear interior and door panels that have had new speakers installed. Seats look awesome and as you will see this Bronco still has the original rear seat and seat belts for front and rear passengers. Brand new dash pad and a nice Grant GT sport steering wheel was added. A great locking center console with cup holders was also added. Great sound from the Kenwood am/fm/cd/i-pod compatible stereo! All of the gauges and lights appear to be functioning correctly including both fuel tanks. The original trim tag is in place on the glove box door. Not much more to say as this Midnight black interior is really impressive...have a look inside: As I mentioned initially, the original 302 V8 had developed some issues for the original owner and this Bronco sat for several years before the nephew took possession of it. He had a friend who built motors and told him to build another 302 V8 that would add a little more horsepower over the original motor but that would be close to stock and easy to drive. His friend built a great 302 and added a nice set of ceramic coated headers, Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock 4bbl carburetor, HEI distributor, and more. As you can hear in the video that follows this 302 sounds awesome and is very strong. He estimated that he had put less then 1500 miles on the motor since it was installed a little over a year ago. The original Automatic transmission was also rebuilt and shifts strong. A new Power steering pump replaced the old one and power steering makes this Bronco a breeze to drive. Keep in mind it is still a 40 year old lifted Bronco so it will not drive like your new SUV but overall is very easy to drive. Manual brakes were completely gone through and new master cylinder installed. This Bronco stops easily and straight. This newer motor breathes out the beautiful headers and back through a new exhaust system with flow masters for that throaty, muscle car sound. Great stance from the 2" lift kit and brand new BFG 33x12.50x15 Mud terrain tires that are also great on the street. They are mounted on a set of new black Baja rock crawler wheels. This set up really gives this Bronco the rugged look of a 4WD SUV with the comfort for the street. A new Wild Horses aluminum radiator keeps this Bronco running cool. This Bronco is turn key and ready to drive and enjoy. Undercarriage looks great also and floorpans appear original and rust free as you might expect to find from a California truck. Take a look and be sure to watch the short video that follows to hear it start up and running: HERE IS A SHORT VIDEO SO YOU CAN HEAR THIS RED BEAUTY START UP AND RUNNING (CLICK THE ARROW TO START):

Ford Focus PHEV on the way?
Tue, Jan 21 2014A refreshed Ford Focus is in the works and that means a few details are leaking out. Spy shots from last month indicated the Focus will have a gaping grille just like its "One Ford" global C-segment comrade, the Fiesta. While Ford is being quiet about it, the Focus could also be getting an "Energi" option, joining the C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi in Ford's plug-in hybrid family. The Focus will likely use technology originated in the C-Max Energi that combines a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor capable of a 20-mile range, according to Autoexpress. The pure electric Focus is expected to stay in the lineup despite its slow sales; its price range should be similar to what's on the market now. The third-generation Focus looked good enough to become the top-selling nameplate in the world in 2012. Some exterior changes to look for in the Euro-spec model at the Geneva Motor Show in March include a reshaped hood, front wing endplate and rear bumper. Interior spy shots have hinted at an updated dashboard design and a simplified, less cluttered control panel with updated climate controls. Under the hood, there are quite a few power options rumored to be available - a gasoline EcoBoost with up to 123 horsepower and two turbo-diesel TDCI options, a 1.6-liter or 2.0-liter mills that would produce between 94 hp and 161 hp. Then there are new 1.5-liter diesel and 1.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline variants that meet regulations in China, Brazil and Russia.
For EV drivers, realities may dampen the electric elation
Mon, Feb 20 2023The Atlantic, a decades-old monthly journal well-regarded for its intelligent essays on international news, American politics and cultural happenings, recently turned its attention to the car world. A piece that ran in The Atlantic in October examined the excesses of the GMC Hummer EV for compromising safety. And now in its latest edition, the magazine ran a compelling story about the challenges of driving an electric vehicle and how those experiences “mythologize the car as the great equalizer.” Titled “The Inconvenient Truth About Electric Vehicles,” the story addresses the economics of EVs, the stresses related to range anxiety, the social effects of owning an electric car — as in, affording one — and the overarching need for places to recharge that car. Basically, author Andrew Moseman says that EV life isn't so rosy: “On the eve of the long-promised electric-vehicle revolution, the myth is due for an update. Americans who take the plunge and buy their first EV will find a lot to love Â… they may also find that electric-vehicle ownership upends notions about driving, cost, and freedom, including how much car your money can buy. "No one spends an extra $5,000 to get a bigger gas tank in a Honda Civic, but with an EV, economic status is suddenly more connected to how much of the world you get to see — and how stressed out or annoyed youÂ’ll feel along the way.” Moseman charts how a basic Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck might start at $55,000, but an extended-range battery, which stretches the distance on a charge from 230 miles to 320, “raises the cost to at least $80,000. The trend holds true with all-electric brands such as Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid, and for many electric offerings from legacy automakers. The bigger battery option can add a four- or five-figure bump to an already accelerating sticker price.” As for the charging issue, the author details his anxiety driving a Telsa in Death Valley, with no charging stations in sight. “For those who never leave the comfort of the city, these concerns sound negligible," he says. "But so many of us want our cars to do everything, go everywhere, ferry us to the boundless life we imagine (or the one weÂ’re promised in car commercials),” he writes. His conclusions may raise some hackles among those of us who value automotive independence — not to mention fun — over practicalities.
