Regretfully I am selling my 1978 Bronco. Due to the recent sequester I will not be getting paid on a crop insurance policy I purchased through USDA soon enough to pay some bills or possibly at all so I have to sell this Bronco immediately. I just bought this Bronco back from a friend in November. I had bought it from the original owner in 1997 when I was 20 years old. It was my daily driver for a year and I loved it. In 1998 I sold it because I needed a pickup to work out of. I sold it to a family friend and fellow Ford enthusiast. He took excellent care of it only putting about 500 miles on it in 14 years.
All the time he owned it I always told him that if he decided to sell it I wanted it back. Last spring after sitting for quite a while he discovered that the engine had become seized for some reason. He purchased a nicely rebuilt 400 from a mutual friend who is a professional mechanic and they installed it. The engine was properly installed and broke in right with zinc added to the oil and primed. It also received a new gas tank and lines as well as new power steering pump and master cylinder. The radiator was flushed and belts were changed. It also had brand new tires put on the factory painted wheels not long before I got it. It now has approximately 1500 miles on the new parts and engine and runs and drives excellent.
At the time of this listing it is back in the shop getting the air conditioning serviced and recharged as it had not been done yet from the engine swap. Also the rear window electric motor is being replaced with a new one because it is a little slow. When it leaves the shop the only thing not working will be the cruise control which is all there but won't engage, maybe the buyer can figure it out. This Bronco is very close to original condition and is in good overall condition. To my knowledge there was never any rust repair done and the only known rust is a small spot on the bottom of the tailgate caused by a leaky rear window seal that has since been replaced. I tried to photograph it as best I could.
For a 35-year-old vehicle it is in great shape but it is not perfect. It is however an honest Bronco that has not been messed with much and is 99% rust free. In fact, it still has an 8-track player in it! This Bronco would make an easy restoration project or a good driver. The paint is cracked and front seats are torn but the dash pad is perfect. These Freewheeling package Broncos are getting harder to find. I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere. I have tried to be as honest as possible in describing it and will be happy to answer questions. I will be happy to work with the shipper you choose. If not for finances I would not be selling it. I am not at a computer very often so it is best to call me at 6202711216 or my wife at 6206408414.
I would like $500 within 24 hrs of the auction ending and payment in full within 7 days. Thanks for looking!

Ford stops JV work In Russia, Stellantis donates to Ukrainian refugees
Wed, Mar 2 2022Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is obviously killing civilians and destroying infrastructure throughout the country. ItÂ’s also affecting the auto industry there and across wider Europe, from the wiring harnesses we mentioned earlier today to new announcements from Ford and Stellantis. And thereÂ’s reason to think in bigger terms than todayÂ’s business deals, since there are massive lithium deposits in the ground in Ukraine. What this means for raw materials for future electric vehicles canÂ’t yet be determined, but itÂ’s worth thinking about as the world reacts to RussiaÂ’s actions. Following decisions by Apple and other major automakers to stop or otherwise curtail activities in Russia, Ford announced that it will suspend all of its joint venture operations in Russia, effective immediately, until further notice. “As part of the global community, Ford is deeply concerned about the invasion of Ukraine and the resultant threats to peace and stability,” the company said in a statement. “The situation has compelled us to reassess our operations in Russia. In recent years, Ford has significantly wound down its Russian operations, which now focus exclusively on commercial van manufacturing and Russian sales through a minority interest in the Sollers Ford joint venture.” Even though Stellantis only has 71 employees based in Ukraine, it announced today it will donate 1 million euros (around $1.1 million U.S.) to Ukrainian refugees and civilians. StellantisÂ’ head of operations in Ukraine will help the automaker work with local non-governmental organizations that are supporting Ukrainians to get the funds where they need to go. “Stellantis condemns violence and aggression and, in this time of unprecedented pain, our priority is the health and safety of our Ukrainian employees and families,” Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said in a statement. “An aggression that shook a world order, already unsettled by uncertainty, has been launched. The Stellantis community, made of 170 nationalities, looks with dismay as civilians flee the country. Even if the scale of casualties is not yet apparent, the human toll will be unbearable.” As of this morning, Stellantis said all of its 71 employees there were safe. This is not a normal line to read in automotive press releases, but this is not a normal time.
2020 Ford Explorer vs 3-row crossover rivals: How they compare on paper
Thu, Jan 10 2019The 2020 Ford Explorer has finally landed, and if history serves as an indicator, it should be bigger than sliced bread. And people sure love themselves some sliced bread. This new Explorer may look familiar on the outside, but beneath the skin is a radically new rear-drive platform related to the Ford Mustang (as opposed to a front-drive platform related to the Ford Taurus and a Volvo from the 1990s). Turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines now exclusively rest under its hood, which as you'll see below, both better anything its competitors offer. Ah, but if you're curious to know how the new 2020 Explorer compares to its various three-row family crossover rivals, take a look at the chart below where we stack it up against the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, 2019 Honda Pilot, 2020 Hyundai Palisade, 2019 Subaru Ascent and 2019 Toyota Highlander. There are others of course (Mazda CX-9, Dodge Durango, GMC Acadia, VW Atlas), but we only had so much room on the chart, and these were the newest and/or most likely to be cross-shopped with the new Explorer. Engine specs and towing Although the Traverse's V6 just nips it on horsepower, the 2020 Explorer's base 2.3-liter "EcoBoost" turbocharged four-cylinder engine smokes it on torque. Therefore, "best-in-class" power seems like a fair claim from Ford. That there's also a 365-horsepower turbo V6 available, plus a hybrid and even-more powerful ST model on the way shows that Ford isn't kidding around under the hood. Curb weight also seems competitive for the segment. In terms of drivetrain, the Explorer is the only member of this particular group to come standard with rear-wheel drive (2.3-liter only). The Durango is the only other three-row, non-luxury crossover to do so. This is significant for two reasons: First, you could potentially do a power slide in an Explorer. Second, and more important, those in the Snowbelt will have to opt for all-wheel drive (it comes standard with the 3.0-liter). By contrast, a set of winter tires will probably do the job just fine if you want to save some money and gas by sticking with its rivals' standard front-wheel drive. Well, except for the Subaru Ascent — that's standard with AWD. In terms of towing, the Explorer takes the cake with as much as 5,300 pounds for the four-cylinder and 5,600 pounds for the V6. Everything else tops out at 5,000, though again, the Durango is capable of besting them all thanks to its Hemi V8 engine option.
Ford and 'Dirty Jobs' pitchman Mike Rowe part ways [w/videos]
Thu, 20 Feb 2014Former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe has one less job as of today - the pitchman is no longer a pitchman for Ford, with yesterday's announcement from Rowe ending a seven-year partnership between the TV host and the Blue Oval.
Rowe made the announcement to political pundit Glenn Beck, saying the two are "going in different directions" and wishing Ford "every possibly success that any car company could ever have," according to The Detroit News. Rowe and Ford got together in 2005, right around the time the 51-year-old came to prominence as the host of Dirty Jobs and the narrator for Deadliest Catch, two of the Discovery Channel's most popular shows.
Take a look below for a few video snippets of Rowe's tenure at Ford.
