1974 Ford Bronco! Restored Financing Trade-in Original Great Driver Ranger on 2040-cars
Nashville, Tennessee, United States
Up for grabs is this 1974 Ford Bronco! This Bronco is super clean and features the 302 V8 (believed to be original) mated to a three speed manual transmission (on the tree), great Goodyear Wrangler tires, and more! This Bronco is in very good shape and was recently featured in a music video with "Nashville" TV star Connie Britton! Please feel free to ask any questions, either through eBay directly or alternatively, my cell phone is 615-300-6004. Mechanically, the Bronco starts up easily, and a I have had the vehicle tuned-up, to include a fresh oil change, new plugs/wires/filters/fuel filter, and even a compression test (all cylinders were the 170 psi range). There do appear to be aftermarket headers and a new exhaust present, and the Bronco drives well at highway speeds. The three speed manual transmission shifts well, and I recently had a new shift collar installed. Dual fuel tanks are both operational. The body has been repainted at some point, paint is good/shiny but does have some nicks/chips; there is some slight peeling of the clear coat. Overall, there is very little surface rust present (almost zero on the body), the only significant portion is on the passenger side cowl (under the hood), please contact me directly for additional pictures. Plenty of tread on the four Goodyear tires on the ground, the spare is not matching. Interior is very clean and features carpet all around, houndstooth side panels, a dash pad with NO cracks, an AM radio, and even the owner's manual! Gauges do function, as does the horn. Seat belts are present for both front seats, rear seat is present but does not have seat belts. The roll bar is in place and does have padding. Top is removable. Please check with your spouse/child/religious leader/pet/whomever BEFORE bidding, and please only bid if you have sufficient funds. The reserve is set very low for a Bronco in this shape, if you want to spend $40,000, look at all of the other vehicles on eBay. However, if you want a solid cruiser that starts easily, looks good, and will impress your friends, this is the Bronco for you. I would be happy to provide the name and contact info of the mechanic who worked on this Bronco to any serious and qualified bidder, after we speak first. We ship vehicles frequently, and for less than you think, please send me your zip code for an estimate on shipping. We take the following forms of payment: Personal check, Cashier's check, Wire Transfer (small fee applies), cash, and credit/debit cards (3% swipe fee applies). Title will be released only after all funds clear. All sales will have a a $199 doc fee and a small city tax added. I only collect sales tax for Tennessee residents. Please ask any and all questions BEFORE the end of the auction, my cell phone is 615-300-6004. Thanks!

Weekly Recap: Auto execs face life in prison for recall delays under proposed legislation
Sat, 09 Aug 2014
The stiff punishments are part of broader transportation legislation, but clearly McCaskill has automakers in her sights.
Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill threw down the gauntlet this week, proposing a bill that could send auto executives to prison for life if they were found to have delayed a recall. She also wants to eliminate the limit for fines for auto safety violations, which are currently capped at $35 million.
VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost
Fri, 09 May 2014I'll be honest; when Ford first unveiled its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, I was skeptical. Past attempts at building turbocharged American cars were almost universally awful, I reasoned, so why would Ford's latest effort be any different? This may seem foolish today, considering the success that the growing EcoBoost range has achieved - particularly the 2.0-liter and 1.6-liter mills. Yet I once again found myself questioning Ford.
It's the makeup of the 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder slotted into the compact engine bay of this Fiesta that has a way of breeding doubt. Three-cylinder engines remain an extreme rarity in the US. What's more, they earned a less-than-desirable reputation for applications in the 1980s and 1990s, and my trepidation about this latest three-pot as a result.
As I found out, though, history is a poor informant of modern technology. The thrust available in other cars with the EcoBoost badge on the back has not gone missing here; something the International Engine of the Year committee has lauded. That august body named the 1.0-liter Ecoboost the best engine of 2012 and 2013. After a week of driving, it didn't take long for my fear of threes to get turned into something like that line of thinking.
