1970 Ford Bronco 4x4
Details... 1970 ford bronco with matching vin title frame and glove box. Registered and 2014 tags paid, pink clear and in my name. Stretched body and frame 12", wheelbase is 105.5" Paint and bodywork was just finished in a bright Highlighter Yellow neon...there is zero rust and even has the original floorboards. Full custom cage with sleeved shoulder harness holes, all seats and belts mounted to the cage. Corbeau reclining seats in front on sliders, 40" matching corbeau seat in rear. Installed on unitStrut welded to cage to allow seat to slide as well as add third row. Custom dash that was never really finished but is fully functional. All new wiring harness and sweet autometer c2 gauges (all work) (bright blue glow backlit). All lights work (brake/tail/turn/headlight/marker). 23 gallon rear gas tank. Front and rear protofab prerunner bumpers, front has 8k warn winch, rear has tire carrier. 3/16" 4x6 boxed rockers (indestructible and useful for turning against or on rocks) and 3/16" upper quarter guards and tail light panels - these will save your ass on the trail. 5.0 efi explorer gt40 motor from a 1997 rewired with RJM aftermarket harness and all new sensors and distributor. ZF 5 speed overdrive transmission out of f250 with granny low first. New hydro clutch and slave installed when trans was put in (trans not rebuilt). Transfer case is a 203/205 doubler, all gear driven (heavy and heavy duty). Gives you 2:1 and 4:1 ratios along with separate front and rear axle engagement. Tom woods custom long slip shaft drive shafts. Front axle is a 78 bronco full width high pinion with Aussie locker, 5.13 gears, and RCV CV jointed lifetime warrantied bad ass axle shafts. These are simply awesome. After breaking an aftermarket alloy and blowing up the Detroit locker this is what I installed...much happier. Brakes are good and all new hubs and bearings. Rear axle is 78 bronco full width with 31 spline Yukon axle shafts, ARB locker and 5.13 gears. Ruff stuff anti-wrap bar to keep rear axle in position, made of DOM tube and high end heims. Works extremely well and keeps soft suspension from causing axle wrap. Front and rear suspension is CAGE 5.5" long travel with 12" extended radius arms and heim ends. Outboard rear shocks with 14" travel mounted into wheel well but does not go into bed. 1 year old 39x14.50 pit bull mad dog tires in new condition on 17" raceline beadlocks with aluminum locks. They are balanced with air soft pellets and go very well down the road. Power steering 4x4x2 box that has been resealed and hydro ram assist with heim steering ends and DOM tie rod, drag link, and track bar. Hydroboost braking with mustang cobra setup (awesome braking power) ARB onboard air compressor for ARB and tires. This will and has done the rubicon, swamp lake, coyote lake, bald mtn trails, big bear/arrowhead trails, as well as the Oregon and Washington trails at Browns camp and Bonney lake area. Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R named Road & Track Performance Car of the Year
Mon, Nov 9 2015With a 526-horsepower, 5.2-liter V8 that roars to 8,250 rpm, it's really hard to consider the 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R an underdog in any fight. However, the Shelby held the lowest as-tested price and was only middle of the pack in terms of power in Road & Track's 2016 Performance Car of the Year challenge. The 'Stang's numbers clearly didn't tell the whole story about the potent coupe because Ford's muscle car grabbed the title in this year's test. A model needs to be new or significantly updated to be eligible for the honor, and R&T found an impressive slate of eight candidates this year. The challengers included the Bentley Continental GT3-R, Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper ACR, Mercedes-AMG GT S, and Porsche Cayman GT4. The Ferrari 488 GTB was the most expensive of the bunch with an as-tested price of $347,942, which is five times more than the Shelby. Once the group was together, R&T hustled them over curving roads and on the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. There was a lot to love about the Shelby, even in this impressive crew. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," editor-in-chief Larry Webster said in the announcement of the results. The GT350R joins some great company. Past winners include the Porsche 911 GT3 last year and the Corvette in 2013. For some fantastic photography and the complete appraisal of these performance machines check out R&T's website for the full story. The article appears in the December/January issue, on newsstands November 17, and on RoadandTrack.com. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," said Larry Webster, editor-in-chief of Road & Track. "Not only does the car have soul and harness so much firepower with such ease, but the real achievement here is that it's so approachable. It's a car you can't help but love." The Mustang Shelby GT350R was the winner by a runaway vote.
2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility is ready to tackle Chicago's mean streets
Wed, Feb 11 2015As is the way of things, when a civilian vehicle gets a significant update, it's only a matter of time before its police counterpart gets similar upgrades. In the case of the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, it's debuting with the same visual updates as the Explorer on which it's based, at this week's 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Like the civilian-market Explorer, the PI Utility is available with a standard 3.7-liter V6 that pumps out 304 horsepower and 279 pound-feet of torque. The higher-caliber option is the tried and true 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, complete with 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The standard Explorer's optional 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, meanwhile, won't be offered to the boys in blue. Regardless of engine, the Utility enjoys standard all-wheel-drive, as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. The tranny's default setting is primarily for fuel sipping, although if it detects more aggressive inputs – based on brake line pressure, deceleration and lateral acceleration rates – it switches over to Pursuit Mode, offering officers snappier upshifts and more aggressive downshifts. The PI Utility's other cool, new system is called Surveillance Mode. To protect officers from sneak attacks, Surveillance Mode warns them when someone approaches the rear the car, raising all four windows and locking the doors. While Ford says the system has "intermittent fault filter technology" to prevent "erroneous changes in sensor signals," we're betting it won't be long before veteran officers uncover some way to prank rookies with the tech. Beyond these new systems, this is the same Utility that officers know and love, only with a significant facelift reminiscent of what's found on the civilian model, which debuted at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new grille has a positive impact on cooling performance, Ford claims, while a new headlight setup accommodates the high-beam-based "wig-wag" lights. The new look has also allowed Ford to offer police departments additional customized lighting options, for that special touch. Inside, a new steering wheel and center console should make officers' lives easier, as will the new (and requested) liftgate release button, found in the overhead console. Check out the first images of the new Police Interceptor Utility (and, sporty drivers, memorize that headlight pattern) up above. Be sure to check back for additional live images once we check out Ford's latest cop car, at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.
Shelby Cobra, Mercedes 300SL and 1947 Woodie from Petersen Museum headed to auction
Mon, 29 Jul 2013The changes happening at the Petersen Museum have been making the rounds in major press, but it probably won't be until August 18, during Pebble Beach, when we get the full story on what's happening; that's where and when museum reps plan on announcing the way forward for the SoCal institution. In the meantime, the museum is still reorganizing its collection, and that means auctioning some of its showpieces at this weekend's Auctions America event in Burbank.
Three of the stars are a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, one of less than 20 produced with a three-speed C-4 automatic transmission, a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300SL owned by actor Robert Stack and the last 1948 Ford Sportsman 'Woodie' ever produced. The Cobra, now restored to its original white exterior and red leather interior, was a factory demonstrator that first sold for $5,250. Showing just 38,950 miles on the odometer, its pre-sale estimate is $800,000 to $1 million.
The 300SL is actually a 1957 model but wasn't titled until Robert Stack took possession in 1960. The lead actor in the The Untouchables TV series used to drive by the Sunset Boulevard Mercedes dealership to ogle the car, but couldn't justify spending the money to buy it. When he and the producer of The Untouchables won Emmys for the show, the producer, who happened to be Desi Arnaz, bought the car for Stack. He owned it his whole life, it has been left as Stack drove it and still bears the California license plate "UNTCHBL."
