I have an incredible truck at an incredible price ! So often too good to be true is just that, but in this case it is true. I have up for auction one of the 23,776 original first year broncos ever made. And, its one of the few left that didn't get the rear flares cut to make way for oversized tires. This timeless classic is the one that really helped start the off road and suv craze. It has been well owned and well maintained for years. It is a great riding and driving truck with its original 3.3 ltr 200 cu in straight 6 engine and three on the tree manual transmission. It absolutely cranks, drives, and shifts as it should with no hick ups at all. It was professionally and expertly painted three years ago with an enamel paint that looks virtually new. The interior is all there and all the gauges work as well as the blinkers, horn, lights, heat, fan and everything else. The only flaw there is the windshield wipers are out of sinc. I'm told I need a relay to be installed but have not followed up, I have the drivers side working and I never take it out in the rain so I had no interest in making the repair. The interior is as close to perfect as you can get, and the color combo looks great. The top is in great shape and the paint looks like glass. The only thing that's not stock are the bumpers that were made for this truck and fit and look better than the stock bumper, it also has a working 10,000 lb wench installed that has never been used to the best of my knowledge. Underneath the truck looks as good as the inside and outside of it does. I have been underneath and I will try to get it to a rack and update some photos later. I am going to sell it, and I am going to market it locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. The truck is sold as is and I recommend anything you buy off of the computer you either inspect personally or send someone to do it as I have bought 4 cars on EBAY alone and 2 were as advertised and 2 were misrepresented to say the least. If you have any questions or would like to arrange an inspection or showing please text, or call me, my name is Robert and I can be reached at (256)508-4722. I have sold 6 cars on ebay and had 100% satisfaction with my listings and sold all my cars reasonably so bid with confidence and good luck !

Ford’s first-generation off-roader has gone from cult classic to mainstream collector

If you haven’t noticed lately, vintage 4x4s are heating up the collector market and the first-generation Ford Bronco is leading the way. Conceived as a competitor for elemental off-roaders such as Jeep and International-Harvester’s Scout, the Bronco’s dimensions were somewhat in between them. Its 92-inch wheelbase and 151.5-inch overall length were considerably longer than the Jeep CJ-5’s 83-inch wheelbase and 139-inch length, but shy of the Scout’s 100-inch wheelbase and 155-inch length.

Much like the groundbreaking Mustang, the original 1966 Bronco (introduced in August 1965) represented a brave new world for the Blue Oval, as Ford had never developed a dedicated 4x4 sport-utility vehicle. The frame, chassis and body would be created from scratch, although engineers logically adapted the front and rear axles from the company’s four-wheel-drive F-Series pickups and used them with a Bronco-specific Dana 20 transfer case.

Its 105-hp, 170-cubic-inch straight-six engine was a “pick-up,” too – from the Falcon, although the carburetor was fitted with a unique float to prevent fuel starvation on steep, off-road grades. The fuel pump was heavy-duty, too, for the same reason. A 289 V-8 would join the lineup later in the ’66 model year and would be supplanted by the 302 engine in 1969.

A three-speed, column-shifted manual transmission was the only gearbox offered at first and an automatic transmission wouldn’t arrive on the option list until 1973. All models through all of the first-gen production years used a Ford 9-inch rear axle. A Dana 30 front axle was used through early 1971 and was replaced by the stronger Dana 44.

The transfer case drove the front and rear axles through constant-velocity, double-cardan universal joints. The design enabled a higher mounting position and greater ground clearance. A coil-spring front suspension and leaf-spring rear suspension were used. The front “mono-beam” axle was located by a pair of forged radius rods and a track bar. Out back forward-angled shocks were used on early models and replaced by rear-canted shocks. The short wheelbase and unique chassis/suspension features contributed to a super-short turning radius of less than 35 feet.

Three body styles were offered initially: the boxy wagon, a pickup-style half-cab and a Jeep-like Roadster. The roadster was the lowest-price models, with a base price of only $2,404 in 1966, but wasn’t popular and was axed from the lineup after 1968. All models were designed for work and the roster of factory options included items such as free-wheeling hubs, a limited-slip differential, heavy-duty cooling package and more, while dealers touted available post-hole diggers, power booms and power sprayers. The Bronco could even be upfitted as a small fire truck or tow truck.

With sales of 23,776 in its first year, the Bronco was off to a promising start. But with its Spartan interior – no carpeting, sound-deadening material or even a standard heater – it was definitely an SUV that emphasized utility over sport.

Ford delays North American production restart from coronavirus lockdown

Tue, Mar 31 2020

Ford said on Tuesday it was postponing its plan to restart production at its North American plants due to safety concerns for its workers amid the coronavirus pandemic. To generate cash, the No. 2 U.S. automaker had said last week it was poised to restart production at some plants in North America as early as April 6, bringing back such profitable vehicles as its top-selling F-150 full-sized pickup, the Transit commercial van and SUVs. But on Tuesday, Ford said it had been aiming to resume production at several key U.S. plants on April 14, but would now instead do so at dates it would announce later on. "The health and safety of our workforce, dealers, customers, partners and communities remains our highest priority," Kumar Galhotra, president of Ford's North American operations, said in a statement. Still, the automaker will open a plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, during the week of April 20, that will make ventilators to treat patients afflicted by the coronavirus. Rival Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said last week it plans to resume production in North America on April 13. General Motors has shuttered its plants indefinitely and has not provided a date for vehicle production to restart. It is facing a delay in the production launch of its redesigned large SUVs and is delaying work on other SUVs. "Once it is safe to resume production, we will do so," a GM spokesman said. As of Monday, Volkswagen was shooting for an April 5 reopening at its Tennessee plant. Honda, Nissan and Subaru facilities in North America will remain closed through April 6, and Hyundai through April 10. Toyota was planning to reopen its North American plants April 17. Ford adding stop-start to all major model lines

Sun, 24 Nov 2013

Ford has gone all-in on its efforts to offer most of its new vehicles with a fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine, but the automaker is reportedly preparing to take another big step toward improving vehicle efficiency. Automotive News is reporting that Ford will soon expand the availability of start-stop technology, which was first offered - presumably the first non-hybrid vehicle, that is - on the 2013 Fusion (equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine) as a $295 option.
The benefit of start-stop is reduced fuel consumption as it shuts the engine off at long stops, and AN quotes Ford as saying that drivers can save more than $1,000 on fuel costs over five years. Despite this, the option hasn't been popular on the Fusion thus far, but it could be more beneficial on bigger vehicles like the F-150. Ford also said that the next-gen Edge, which was previewed in concept form at the LA Auto Show, will be equipped with auto start-stop to help make the EcoBoost engines even more efficient.

Lincoln dealers to build standalone dealerships separate from Ford

Tue, Aug 14 2018

Way back in 2011, Ford Motor Credit Co. established Lincoln Automotive Financial Services as part of what Automotive News called "a campaign to set the Lincoln brand apart." Lincoln's been on a wild, public ride in the seven years since, which included a near-death experience in 2013 under former Ford CEO Alan Mulally. But Ford's luxury brand has rebounded and is ready to take another shot at setting itself apart. Automaker execs have asked dealers with twinned Ford- Lincoln dealerships in 30 major U.S. markets to build standalone stores. According to company data, the move isn't a gamble — dealers with standalone showrooms sell more vehicles. Lincoln's standalone dealerships in the 30 major U.S. markets that account for 70 percent of luxury segment sales increased 48 percent from 2014 to 2017, compared to an overall Lincoln brand sales increase of 18 percent. After a former Ford-Lincoln dealer in Minneapolis opened a devoted Lincoln store this January, sales have climbed 60 percent so far this year. Dealers in Orange County, California, and Atlanta, Georgia have seen sales double since opening exclusive Lincoln storefronts. The sales manager at the Atlanta dealer said, "Customers have pulled up and said, 'This is how it should be.'" Robert Parker, Lincoln's head of marketing, said, "Customers expect the environment to be equal to the product. They want to buy a luxury product in a luxury environment." That issue repeatedly comes up when a mass-market brand launches a luxury product; observers have lately wondered how much the issue affects sales of Hyundai's Genesis brand. Out of 845 Lincoln showrooms nationwide, there are 150 Lincoln dealers in those 30 major U.S. markets. So far, 72 dealers have made or are working to make the standalone switch on their own. Lincoln is asking the remaining 78 shops to follow suit, to agree to a new facility by July 2019 and to have the store finished by July 2021. Only the showrooms would need to be exclusive, service and other back-end departments can remain in Ford-branded complexes. Wielding the carrot, Lincoln will help dealers with relocating, and pay more for every car sold. Wielding the stick, Lincoln said that come Q2 2019, it won't let twinned dealers sell Black Label trims if they don't already. Over the next couple of years, Lincoln will complete the revamp of its lineup. Said marketing honco Parker, "The next phase of the transformation is critical.
