Camouflaged Shelby GT350 seen on the street
Fri, Mar 27 2015The Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang made a grand debut at the 2014 LA Auto Show, and its more extreme GT350R sibling bowed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. With the order guides already leaked and the R lapping the Nurburgring in a claimed 7:32.19, many of the big questions about the high-performance pony cars have already been answered. However, when they aren't showing up at events, Ford apparently still sees reason to keep the models fully camouflaged on the street. Case in point: this recent video showing off one in testing. With the design already fully unveiled, there's not much left to spy under all of the concealment. This short clip does provide a real-world opportunity to hear the song of the 5.2-liter V8 with its flat-plane crank, though. As a development car nothing here is final, but based on this video, Ford is definitely making sure the Shelby's engine sounds great. Related Video:
FBI Seizes Computers, Listening Devices From Ford Headquarters
Fri, Jul 25 2014FBI agents searched Ford Motor Company's headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, this month as part of an investigation into possible corporate espionage. Eight devices, along with documents, computers and financial records, were among the items seized by federal agents on July 11, according to documents obtained by The Detroit News. The FBI searched Leach's home on June 20 and seized more than two dozen items in that search, Reuters reported. Former engineer Sharon Leach, a 17-year Ford veteran of company, was fired last month, according to The News, which first reported the story. She admitted to placing recording devices under conference tables before meetings. She told Ford security she used the recordings to assist in her meeting notes. She couldn't remove the devices after meetings without drawing attention to herself, leaving the devices to record other meetings. Leach has not been charged for any wrongdoing. Former federal prosecutor and Wayne State University law professor Peter Henning told The News that using a search warrant, rather than a subpoena, shows the FBI suspects more employees could be implicated. "If it's an economic espionage case or trade-secrets case, that rarely involves one individual," Henning told The Detroit News. "So the concern is if you send a subpoena and ask for recording devices, those things can be erased." Leach, Ford and the FBI declined to comment on the investigation. 2015 Ford Focus ST zooming toward Goodwood reveal [w/video]
Mon, 23 Jun 2014Ford has quite a party ready for the Goodwood Festival of Speed starting on June 27. Not only is the 2015 Mustang going to be driving in front of the European public for the first time, the Blue Oval is also unveiling its 2015 refresh for the Focus ST.
Official details about the latest Focus hot hatch are practically nonexistent at this point. Ford's teaser image shows narrower headlights, and the company says that the ST also benefits from the technical and quality improvements from the refreshed standard model, which likely means an even more Aston-Martin-like grille. However, any improvements for the power or handling are a mystery for now.
Ford will even give visitors to the festival the chance to drive the new ST - at least virtually. Gran Turismo 6 kiosks will be on hand with the hot hatch loaded up to race the Goodwood Hill Climb. There will also be real-time races between former Stig Ben Collins in the real ST challenging a player up the hill in the game.
