SELLER REMARKS |

Despite their similar look, the first three years of Thunderbird were each quite different. Personally, my favorites are the 1956 models like this Raven Black example, mostly because of the trim styling and continental kit out back. This one has been restored as needed during the course of its life, and a lot of recent work makes it a great choice for driving tours this fall.
One of the world's most beloved cars, there's just no way to make a 1956 Thunderbird look bad. But when you get it right, they can be downright amazing, and the high-quality finish on this 2-seater is a testament to a life well lived. Repainted in 2013-14, it's quite fresh looking and the Raven Black finish is this car's original color so it looks absolutely right. Gaps are decent all around, particularly the hard-to-fit doors, and fender skirts make it look long and sleek (they were optional but almost everyone bought them). Nice chrome, much of which has been restored, accentuates this '50s icon and the exhaust still exits through the rear corners of the bumper, a 1956-only feature. The continental kit was standard equipment, mostly to remedy complaints of no trunk space in 1955, and it adds a jaunty look to the sleek 'Bird that many find very appealing.
Two-tone red and white vinyl upholstery looks great inside the black 'Bird and while it was replaced a few years ago, quality material and workmanship insures that it still looks great today. The materials and patterns are correct, and it's hard to resist gaping at the many ornate details inside. An engine-turned panel runs across both doors and the dash, the steering wheel almost looks like an aircraft yoke, and the big speedometer is lit from behind by a Plexiglas "window" through the windshield. The gauges are probably original and they're joined by white-faced dials under the dash to keep an eye on temperature and oil pressure. A period-style under-dash A/C unit is powered by modern hardware under the hood, so it's both effective and reliable, and there's a modern AM/FM radio in the dash which does a pretty good job of concealing itself. A recent black convertible top is joined by a correct porthole hardtop, and the trunk is outfitted with black carpets and a correct jack assembly (the spare, of course, is hanging out back).
The 312 cubic inch V8 appears to be this car's original engine and it's nicely detailed with a dealer dress-up kit, correct markings, and reproduction hoses. However, in the interested of drivability, the original "teapot" carburetor was dumped in favor of a modern Demon 4-barrel and compact air cleaner, and obviously the A/C compressor is a Sanden unit. Ford Red paint on the block looks great in the otherwise all-black engine bay and the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission clicks through the gears without a fuss. It appears that the underside of the car is original and was probably undercoated when it was new, and aside from the usual maintenance parts, it looks well-preserved and authentic. The dual exhaust has a nice V8 burble and sparkling wire wheels are a fantastic upgrade over the stock hubcaps.
2-seater Thunderbirds will never go out of style and when you pick one on great colors with nice options, it becomes a car that will hold its value better than most. Call today!

If you want to see a Ford racing prototype, you need look no further than the United SportsCar Championship, where the Blue Oval fields two Daytona Prototypes powered by an EcoBoost-branded 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. But according to the latest rumors, that may not be enough for Ford, which has as much brand to promote overseas as it does back home.
That could be why Racer magazine is reporting that Ford may be poised to return to Le Mans in the coming years. As we all know, Ford competed at Le Mans in the mid-through-late '60s, bringing home four consecutive overall wins with the legendary GT40. The new program would not, according to Racer, seek to relive those glory days, but would instead compete for class wins in the LMP2 category.
Currently, LMP2 regulations are somewhat split between the United SportsCar Championship in North America on the one hand and ACO-sanctioned series like the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship on the other, but plans are underway for the regulations to be unified in time for the 2017 season. That could be when Ford is targeting its return, allowing it to compete on both sides of the Atlantic to maximize its exposure.

We know Ford is unveiling a new Focus RS on February 3, and it's heavily rumored to arrive brandishing an all-wheel-drive powertrain and as much as 350 horsepower. The folks at Ford Performance have also promised they are working on at least 12 models through 2020, and that still leaves a lot of time to get additional exciting vehicles out the door. One of those could be an RS version of the Fiesta, according to Evo. An RS take on the latest Fiesta would obviously need substantial boosts in both power and handling ability to warrant the work over the current top Fiesta ST (pictured above), which is already one of our favorite cars. Evo speculates that the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder could be tuned further, possibly up to about 250 horsepower, and the high-performance hatch might even take some inspiration from the Fiesta WRC rally car with an all-wheel drive system. An unnamed Ford spokesperson remained cagey about the chances for the pint-sized hot hatch to Evo, though. "We can't say anything at this moment, but we have promised to produce 12 performance models in the coming years. We'll leave it for you to decide whether that includes a Fiesta at this moment," the source said to the magazine. Evo doesn't expect a launch across the pond until at least 2017, if it actually happens. Of course, there's the lingering question of whether such a niche project would work in the US. In Europe, the Fiesta RS would challenge similarly diminutive speedsters like the Volkswagen Polo R and Audi S1, but true competitors of an equivalent size here would be much more scarce. In fact with 250 hp, the hotter Fiesta could provide unwelcome competition within Blue Oval showrooms for the Focus ST. There's more than one way to get a car to drift. You can set up a purpose-built drift car. Or you can put a car on a slick surface. But in this case, Vaughn Gittin Jr. has done both. In this latest video, the driftmeister extraordinaire reveals the new livery for his 2015 Ford Mustang RTR, and put it on a frozen track, flanked by snow banks. It's the perfect place to drift any car, and this custom pony car could very well be the perfect drifter. Call it a match made in heaven. A cold, frozen-over slice of heaven where rear-drive muscle cars put on one heck of a show. Gittin, for those unfamiliar, is one of the drifting scene's foremost showmen, and like Ken Block or Tanner Foust, he competes primarily in Blue Oval machinery. Vaughn will be challenging the Formula Drift series once again in the Mustang RTR, but whether the sideways-driving championship is coming to a circuit near you or not, you can scope out a piece of the action right here.
