This year is the 50th anniversary of this classic car.  Cruise in elegant style, always gets lots of thumbs-up!  Classic styling continues to impress to this day.

This T-Bird has always been garaged.  Odometer reads approximately 75,000 miles, but is more likely 175,000 miles, however it still runs strong.

It has been appraised at #2 (Very Good) Condition (appraisal available).  Many upgrades have been made since then (all receipts available).

This T-Bird has its original Ford 390 V8 Engine rated at 300 horsepower, coupled with a rebuilt Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission.

Features include:

SelectAire Air Conditioning which works great,

Power Windows for convenience,

Power Steering for relaxed cruising,

Original Tinted Glass for comfort,

Swing-Away Steering Wheel for ease of entry and exit,

Flow-Through Ventilation with rear exit-vent,

Stylish Crinkletop Landau roof in great shape,

The paint is a gold known as Chantilly Beige with a Pearl Beige interior.

Parts and Accessories are readily available.

The Registration has been paid through August of 2015.  No smog checks are required due to vintage.

Issues: Driver seat control not currently working.  Minor tear in driver seat can easily be re-upholstered or covered with a seatcover.  Two small holes in the dash are being covered by a Route 66 magnet.  Minor paint chips have been repainted.

This car is in great overall condition.  Of course, being 50 years old, the car does not come with a warranty and is being sold as-is.  You are more than welcome to test drive it and have it inspected by a mechanic before purchase.  Title transfer upon bank confirmation of funds.  Will work with your shipper but cannot be responsible for any damage after pick-up.  Thanks!

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

Rowan Atkinson crashes at Goodwood Revival

Sun, 14 Sep 2014

To quote Harry Hogge (played by Robert Duvall) in Days of Thunder, "rubbin, son, is racin'." That can mean some unfortunate damage to high-end racing machinery, which may be repaired easily enough in stock car racing, but when it comes to vintage racing, the stakes can be that much higher. And yet incidents do occur, like at this weekend's Goodwood Revival.
Among the many competitors taking part in the retro racing event in England was none other than Rowan Atkinson, the actor perhaps best known for playing Mr. Bean. Driving a classic Ford Falcon Sprint in the Shelby Cup event, Atkinson (pictured above at the 2012 revival) reportedly crashed head-on into another car on track.
According to reports, the two cars up spun out. The driver in between managed to avoid a pile-up, but Atkinson couldn't steer clear and hit the obstructing vehicle. Fortunately Rowan walked away unscathed (and, we imagine, in a humorous manner), but while we don't know how extensive the damage was to the Falcon, it was enough to take it out of the race.

2015 Ford Mustang to offer solid-rear axle, sort of

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

One of the biggest knocks against the last Ford Mustang was its solid-rear axle. Not one to actively court criticism, Ford dutifully swapped out the old-fashioned rear end for something a bit more modern in the redesigned 2015 Mustang, adding an independent rear suspension across the board.
While an IRS Mustang is great news for those that value handling and ride comfort, there's one big group that it's bad news for - drag racers. See, a solid-rear axle is a big deal for drag racers, because not only is it more durable and cheaper, but it's better for the hard launches that can make or break a race.
To satiate this vocal demographic, Ford will sell a body-in-white version of the Stang, complete with a nine-inch rear axle, that will debut at the 2014 Performance Racing Industry show. The news came from gas2.org, which cited an unnamed employee of Ford Racing at this year's PRI show.
