1966 FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE

I am listing a 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible. I purchased this bird and a 64 bird from an estate. The gentleman had 7 of these cars and the two I purchased are convertibles. I will have the 64 listed later in the week.  This bird is a solid no rust car with all original sheet metal. It has a 390 cid engine with a 4bbl carb., cruise-o-matic automatic transmission, 3.00 rear end gears, power steering, power disc brakes (front), dual exhaust, power windows, power driver seat, power top, radio with front and rear speaker, wiper with washers, and front and rear seat belts. The paint trim code is E, Silver Mink metallic, interior trim code is 21, silver blue. It has a white soft top in good condition that operates properly and a sportster tonneau cover . It has the original jack, spare has been used but is all there. Original trunk interior, has original inspection stamps under deck lid in two places, has all original glass including the windshield (no cracks or delamination). Has original wheel covers but has wire wheel simulators on it now. Comes with the original owners manual with build sheet. These are great looking cars with the tonneau covers and one of the best driving classic cars you can buy. You can not get into the collector car hobby and have a good quality car for much less than these birds. There price has never taken off yet, I feel these are some of the best cars for the buck.

This bird has been well maintained through the years. It has had one repaint back to original color of silver mink with basecoat/clear coat paint. The engine bay has been detailed and it has new Fomoco Ford hoses, belts, plugs, wires, air cleaner, oil and filter, and antifreeze. It has 4 new American Classic radial tires, new shocks, new front springs, new top motor, pump and lines. The sequential tail lights work perfect, all of the other lights work as well, even the door interior lights, dome, and trunk. The drivers door panel has a bad spot around the pull cup area( see pic in photobucket) and the driver seat has two bad spots (see pic in photobucket) these can be fixed by a vinyl repair person. The rest of the interior is very clean, the carpet is nice and original with no wear. It could be dyed and look new again. (It is sun faded). The under carriage is very solid, the rocker and quarter panels have no rust, under the doors is clean and solid as well.

This is one of the best driving cars that I have driven lately. You can fly in and drive this one back home if you wanted. I am in Wentzville, Mo. 35 miles west of St.Louis. The car is showing 57,700 miles which I believe to be original. I have no documentation so I am selling it as exempt on the miles. There is no warranty, as is-where is. I require a $1,000.00 deposit at the end of auction. I need to be paid within 7 days of close auction. I can keep the car until transport is arranged or you pick it up as long as  it paid for within 7 days. I can also help arrange shipping for you. I am available almost any time for inspection and test drive. My name is Greg (806) 477-2201.   Please see all additional pictures in photobucket. Sorry ebay won't let me put the link in any more. You can send me a question and I will attach it to your mail. Thanks, Greg

Thanks for viewing my auction and good luck. Also check out the inventory at Vintage Autohaus and Imports in Amarillo, Tx. @ vaitx.com

Ford readying 2015 F-150 drift truck for SEMA

Sun, 19 Oct 2014

Between the Mustangs you'd find in Formula D and the Fiestas in the Global and World rallycross championships, there's no shortage of Ford drift cars on the scene. But at the upcoming SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Blue Oval automaker intends to show off a different kind of drift machine.
Created in collaboration with driftmeister Vaughn Gittin, Jr., this custom F-150 has been designed for "on- and off-road capabilities, as well as drifting and jumping." It's got a suspension with components from Kibbetech King and Air Lift Performance to give it 12 inches of travel and comes packed with 5 Recaro seats. Other details remain limited, but if the rendering above is anything to go by, it ought to be pretty awesome.
Alongside the Gittin truck, Ford will also be showcasing another F-150 designed together with freestyle motorcross rider Brian Deegan, packing the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and a long list of enhancements. Between these two trucks, Ford hopes to extend its winning streak for the Hottest Truck award that it's taken four years running now. Feel free to read more in the press release below.

UK's Loughborough University improving Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine

Wed, May 21 2014

How much does it cost for college students to study zero emissions vehicles? At Loughborough University in the UK, a new Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) is being built at a cost of a billion pounds ($1.7 billion US). The school has just announce that it will fund a number of grad student positions and is creating a new Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, which sounds like a fun job to us. We're weird like that. There will be a total of four professor-type positions in the new Center, including the chair, all focused on teaching students about low-carbon vehicle technologies, specifically electric and hybrid ones. The school is investing 1.5 million pounds ($2.5 million) for the new positions. There is a bigger picture as well, a 26-million pound ($44 million) Advanced Combustion Turbocharged Integrated Variable-valvetrain Engine (ACTIVE) project, which uses funds not only from the school but also from Ford and others. The point of ACTIVE is to study Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and "improve further its efficiency and ensure it exceeds 2020 emission regulations." This is already a popular engine for the automaker, and it will need to stay at the bleeding edge of efficiency to remain as important in 2020 as it is today. Loughborough University has been working with automakers on advanced energy technologies for years, for example with Rolls-Royce and fuel cells in 2007 and the Lotus Hotfire engine in 2008. University invests GBP1.5M in advanced propulsion research to advance zero emissions vehicles challenge Loughborough University is investing GBP1.5M over five years in strategic research appointments, inspired by the global challenge to develop the new advanced propulsion technologies required for the move to zero emission vehicles. These appointments reinforce the University's world-class research in low-carbon vehicle technologies, adding new dimensions concerned with electric and hybrid drives. Four appointments will be made, including a Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, supported by a number of PhD studentships. The GBP1.5M investment is part of the University's commitment to the recently announced Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) to support the development of new supply chains for low carbon vehicles. APC is an initiative established by the Automotive Council that will see GBP1 billion of investment from government and industry over the next 10 years.

Dodge Challenger outsold Mustang, Camaro in third quarter of 2019

Fri, Oct 4 2019

The Dodge Challenger is nearly old enough to start driver's ed in some states, and it doesn't have a firm grasp on the increasingly crucial concept of downsizing, yet it beat the odds to become the most popular American two-door model during the third quarter of 2019. Its ballooning sales figures suggest buyers don't always want the latest, most advanced car they can get their hands on. Dodge sold 18,031 examples of the Challenger during the third quarter of 2019, a shocking 21% increase over the same period in 2018. It's a true muscle car, normally sardined in the same can as the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang, a pair of smaller, nimbler two-doors that are much closer to the historic definition of a pony car. Semantics aside, the Mustang finished on the second spot of the sales podium with 16,823 sales, a 12.3% drop compared to the third quarter of 2018, and the Camaro took third with 12,275 sales, a 15% dip that alarmingly comes in the wake of two redesigns. More specific sales figures aren't available. We don't know what percentage of the sales mix V8s represent, or whether buyers prefer manual or automatic transmissions. The scoreboard looks different when we examine 2019's year-to-date figures. The Mustang takes first place with 55,365 sales, followed by the Challenger at 46,699, and the Camaro at 36,791. While the Challenger's recent ascent is encouraging, it can't mask the fact that two-door models no longer enjoy a favorable tailwind, and the entire segment — not just the American entries — is declining. The aforementioned year-to-date figures are down by 10.1, 11, and 7.6 percent, respectively. The third-quarter statistics revealed a handful of other surprises unrelated to the world of performance. Dodge notably sold three examples of the Dart, a sedan it hasn't built since 2016. That's a 93% drop compared to the 45 units that found a home during the third quarter of 2018.
