1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
You are viewing a very nice survivor T Bird with Dealer added Sports Roadster package. Odometer shows 29K, believed to be 129K miles. Since 2008 many items on the car have been rebuilt or restored with less than 1K miles since all work has been done. The car runs and drives excellent. The car has its original Ford Gate release invoice. The car was purchased from a former Ford dealer who owned the car for 30 years and stored indoors.
Please read on for more particulars of the car:
Body/Paint: The body panels and paint are original to the car. Slight door damage to the driver’s door below the key hole that has been repaired. Overall the body is in excellent condition with no rust. Floor pans and trunk pans are original to the car. The paint is original showing some signs of wear with a few chips, but very presentable as driver quality.
Interior: The dash pad, carpet, front and rear seats have been replaced with original aftermarket material and looks very nice. Seat belts are new as well. All other interior components are original to the car in very good condition. The interior bright work, dash and console are in very good original condition with little to no pitting on bright work.
Convertible/Sport Roadster top: The convertible top is original and in good overall condition showing some signs of wear. The power top system has been restored with items as needed. Works excellent with new trunk mat. The original Sports Roadster tonneau cover is in excellent condition with new head rest upholstery. The car is not an original factory Sports Roadster, but was added at the dealer at the time of purchase. The Sports Roadster details on the car, Ford logo on fenders and tonneau cover show patina and have been installed on the car since purchase. No grab bar.
Running Gear: Original engine with the top end rebuilt along with the original carb rebuilt. The entire engine compartment has been restored. New stock replacement radiator and heater core. New belts, hoses, etc. The transmission is original to the car and works as it should. Very likely the transmission has been rebuilt knowing how well it shifts, but no record of it. The rear end is stock and in good working order.
Suspension: The front end has had tie rods replaced. Shocks replaced
Brakes: The brakes have been gone through and in good working order with the master cylinder being replaced.
Exhaust: Completely replaced as stock.
Bright work: Original to the car in overall good condition. Some visible wear and slight pitting, but presentable.
Glass: All original to the car in very good condition.

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.

Recharge Wrap-up: DriveNow in Brussels, DOE funds H2 projects
Thu, Jul 7 2016The DriveNow carsharing service – a joint venture between BMW and Sixt – has expanded to Brussels, Belgium. In addition, 20 percent of the entire DriveNow fleet is now made up of electric vehicles, and more than 150,000 of the service's 600,000-plus customers have had their first EV driving experience through DriveNow. Users in most of the 10 cities in which the program operates have access to the BMW i3, which have been part of the fleet since 2013. Read more from Green Car Congress. The US Department of Energy (DOE) is providing more than $13 million in funding for the advancement of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. The DOE's Fuel Cell Consortium for Performance and Durability (FC-PAD) will help fund projects from General Motors, 3M, the United Technologies Research Center, and Vanderbilt University to reduce the use of platinum and increase the performance and durability of fuel cells. The DOE's Hydrogen Materials—Advanced Research Consortium (HyMARC) is funding hydrogen storage projects by Argonne National Laboratory, Penn State, University of Hawaii, Manoa, and University of Missouri, St. Louis. Read more from the DOE. The Advanced Diesel-Electric Powertrain (ADEPT) program's 48-volt lead-carbon battery will help next-generation cars meet future emissions requirements. ADEPT, of which Ricardo, Ford, and the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC) are partners, will present its results at the Cenex LCV2016 low-carbon vehicle conference at Millbrook on September 14 and 15. The "intelligent electrification" mild hybrid system will be showcased in a Ford Focus demonstration car. The system provides fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions benefits comparable to that of a full hybrid diesel powertrain, but at a lower cost. In addition to the lead-carbon battery (which is lithium-free and easily recyclable), the mild hybrid powertrain uses a Ford ECOnetic 1.5TDCi engine, advanced belt starter generator, and Turbine Integrated exhaust Gas Energy Recovery System (TIGERS). Read more in the press release below. Hybrid vehicle with 48V advanced lead carbon battery on path to meet future ultra-low emissions targets · ADEPT programme aims to demonstrate technology capable of providing near full-hybrid equivalent fuel economy at significantly lower cost · UltraBattery® advanced lead-carbon battery pack, provides a high power, high endurance, easily recyclable, lithium-free low-cost energy storage solution.
