This car belongs to my Queen.  I will be the first to tell you that she does not cherish her car as I do.  I park way out in BFE as not to get any doors dings on my car.  She... not so much.  I wax my car and wash it every time it rains.  She... I wash and wax hers when I have time.  As of now it is clean only because I just did it.  I made her get all of her water bottles and garbage out so we could sell the Taurus to make way for the SUV she has been wanting for sometime.  Now that you know why it is for sale allow me to tell you a bit more about the car itself.

The miles listed in this ad, will be wrong by the time the auction closes (estimate an additional 200-300).  She is still driving the car to work everyday.  That said, the car runs good.  Starts every day, stops quick, holds the road nicely and does what she is supposed to.  I just changed the oil a week ago so that is not something you will need to do right away.  In fact there is nothing you should have to do right away other than personalize her as yours.  We just put two new front tires on less than a month ago.  The car is Pa. state & emissions inspected until January 2014.  At the time of inspection, we also replaced the rear sway bar links.  All in all it is a good dependable ride.  The ugliest spot on the car is shown in the photos and it is the cancer developing on the left dog leg.  There are some stone chips on the hood and some scuffs on the rear bumper and deck lid from her perching her bags on it while searching for her keys.  She has promised to take better care of the truck she wants.  Famous last words right?

Everything works,  The air blows very cold.  She has never liked the stereo even though it works as it is supposed to.  No chips in the glass.  No rattles,  No clunks.  The car is well maintained.  I suspect is you drive it like a normal human being and maintain it, you (if you are the winner)  will get a great deal of good use out of the car.

I would have traded it in on the new truck but... the dealer offered me a number so far below what he was asking for the same car sitting on his lot that I told him I'd sell it myself.  Now I understand they have overhead and all that but so do I.

That said.  If you bid please plan to follow thru as our truck deal is hinging on this one.  If you have questions, feel free to ask.  I will get back to you ASAP.  Finally... I do have the car advertised locally which means I reserve the right to end this auction early if someone offers me enough to do so.

Our love of SUVs is killing people in the streets

Tue, Jul 17 2018

Americans are fond of supersized fast-food meals and colossal convenience-store fountain drinks, even though they're clearly bad for our health and U.S. adults keep getting fatter. We also like large vehicles, and our love affair with SUVs is killing people in the streets. According to a recent investigation by the Detroit Free Press/USA Today, the increase in SUV sales over the past several years coincides with a sharp rise in pedestrian deaths in the U.S. — up 46 percent since 2009, with nearly 6,000 people killed in 2016 alone. With SUV sales surpassing sedans in 2014 and pickups and SUVs currently accounting for 60 percent of new vehicle sales, it's no wonder Ford announced in April plans to cease U.S. sales of almost all passenger cars. And this followed Fiat Chrysler's move to virtually an all-truck, -SUV and -crossover lineup. While the Freep/USA Today investigation found that the simultaneous surge in SUV sales and pedestrian deaths comes down to vehicle size, it also points to a lack of action on the part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), even though it knew of the dangers SUVs pose to pedestrians. Also blamed are automakers dragging their feet on implementing active safety features. Using federal accident data, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) determined that there was an 81 percent increase in single-vehicle pedestrian fatalities involving SUVs between 2009 and 2016. Freep/USA Today's analysis of the same data by counting vehicles that struck and killed pedestrians instead of the number of people killed showed a 69 percent increase in SUV involvement. As far back as 2001, researchers at Rowan University forecasted a rise in pedestrian deaths as Americans began switching to SUVs. "In the United States, passenger vehicles are shifting from a fleet populated primarily by cars to a fleet dominated by light trucks and vans," the researchers wrote, with light trucks comprising SUVs.

Weekly Recap: Auto execs face life in prison for recall delays under proposed legislation

Sat, 09 Aug 2014

The stiff punishments are part of broader transportation legislation, but clearly McCaskill has automakers in her sights.
Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill threw down the gauntlet this week, proposing a bill that could send auto executives to prison for life if they were found to have delayed a recall. She also wants to eliminate the limit for fines for auto safety violations, which are currently capped at $35 million.

Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
