Up for sale is my 1990 Taurus SHO. I really hate to let this one go, but it's become my daily driver, and it deserves better than that.

The car is in very good over all condition, The paint still shines beautifully , with some minor rust issues (I'll cover this shortly).

This car has  probably one of the nicest gen 1 mocha interiors left. The Passenger seat and rear seat look like they have never been sat in, and the drivers seat shows less than average wear for a 24 year old car. (minor split in seam on bolster.)

The carpets and headliner are in excellent shape and are clean, as is the rest of the interior. The sunroof shade has MINOR wear, these are usually destroyed.

There are a few rust issues to talk about. The black strips on the door moldings are shot. They have rusted and bubbled, and are rapidly getting worse. Some of the rust has spread to behind the moldings, and there is a small bubble on the drivers door. This could VERY easily be fixed. The rear quarters are beginning to show signs of rust as well, but it is easily stoppable at this point. The dog legs are in fair condition, with minor rust as well. The rockers are completely intact and solid.  Don't let any of this scare you, this isn't a rot box like most of the remaining Gen 1 SHO's. I'm just trying to be as honest as possible, so there are no surprises upon pickup.

The car runs and drives excellent. It does not burn any oil, but has a minor oil leak coming from around the cam seal.

Everything works. A/C is cold, Heat is hot. Climate control has one cracked button (just happened), but is not destroyed like most hard button units. Currently has a Pioneer Double DIN touchscreen radio. Will also be getting a new windshield this weekend.

It has brand new Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires all around, on slicers in good shape. The Front brakes are new, as well as the sway bar bushings. Suspension is tight and quiet.

The clutch was replaced at 109,000 Miles, and i've had zero issues with it. Unfortunately, the car is still a cable shifter (I haven't had time to convert it to Rod Shift), and can occasionally be a little balky.

I'm not sure of the status of the 60k, but based on the overall condition of the car and how it was kept, I would be very surprised if it wasn't done on time.

Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car cross country. It's been very reliable, and is still a blast to drive. There aren't many Gen 1's left on the road, and this one , with minor love would be a real gem.

I'll try to add more pictures tomorrow, weather permitting.

My reserve is set VERY low.

FCA, Ford idle plants due to semiconductor shortage

Fri, Jan 8 2021

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford and FCA will become the latest automakers to idle production facilities due to a semiconductor shortage. Ford's Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky will idle for a week, borrowing a down period from later in the year to compensate. Per Automotive News, FCA is idling its Brampton facility in Ontario, Canada, and one other site which has not yet been identified.  Louisville Assembly is the production site for the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair SUVs; Brampton Assembly produces the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger for FCA.  A Ford spokeswoman, who declined to identify the semiconductor supplier, confirmed the temporary shutdown to Reuters. In this, FCA and Ford join Nissan and potentially Honda in idling production in the wake of the shortage, which also hit Volkswagen late last year. The shortages are being blamed on consumer demand for silicon after production slowdowns resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. Volkswagen said it had to adjust production schedules in China, Europe and North America to compensate.  Nissan said it planned to reduce production of the Note, a hybrid electric car, at its Oppama Plant in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan, but did not give details of the scale of the output cut. The Nikkei newspaper reported that Nissan would slash its Note production at Oppama to about 5,000 units in January, from an initially planned 15,000 units. "A global shortage of semiconductors has affected parts procurement in the auto sector. As a result of this shortage, the Oppama Plant in Japan will adjust production in January, reducing production of the Nissan NOTE," Nissan said in a statement. Trump takes potshots at Ford in Flint

Wed, Aug 12 2015

Doubling down on his general dislike of everything south of the Rio Grande, Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump took aim at local favorite Ford during his first campaign visit to Michigan yesterday. "Ford is building a $2.5 billion plant in Mexico," Trump told a standing-room-only crowd in Birch Run, MI, yesterday evening. "I'll actually give them a good idea. Why don't we just let the illegals drive the cars and trucks right into our country?" This is not the first time real estate mogul turned reality TV star has whined about Ford's Mexican factory plans. Previously, he promised that if he were elected, he'd levy a 35-percent tax against Mexican-built Fords. Then, as he has here, Trump failed to address other automakers selling Mexican-built vehicles in the US, including Detroit-based General Motors as well as foreign brands like Volkswagen, Nissan, and Toyota. "I would say, the deal is not going to be approved, I won't allow it. I want that plant in the United States, preferably here," Trump said, with Bloomberg reporting his comments were meant with chants of "USA." Ford announced the $2.5-billion Mexican investment in April, saying it'd build two factories to produce transmissions and engines. In response to Trump's criticism of the deal, the Dearborn-based automaker was quick to point out that it hasn't exactly been stingy about building its business here in the US. "We are committed to leveraging our global manufacturing footprint and will continue to invest where it makes the best sense for our business," Ford spokesman Karl Henkel told Bloomberg. "We are proud that we have invested $6.2 billion in our US plants since 2011 and hired nearly 25,000 US employees." Related Video:
