NOT for sale in CA. Modified exhaust not legal for California. Up for sale is a 2002 Ford Ranger XL pick up that has been modified as an off road baja style truck. Even though it is heavily modified, it is very streetable and can be driven daily. It holds a clean and clear title and has a clean carfax. It is a more basic XL model with no power equipment but does have ice cold A/C. Has a 3.0L V6 which runs great and has a 5 speed manual transmission. The rear end is believed to be stock with the exception of yukon axles. Solid drive train . Runs and drives great. Brakes are excellent, the ABS light is on. Power steering is great, but it does have a common noisy ford power steering pump, makes noise when doing a slow turn. (whines). The truck drives straight as an arrow. E brake needs to be adjusted. The engine is mostly stock. It does have JBA headers and down through a custom exhaust. It does have a catalytic converter and muffler. The interior is clean and mostly stock. Has a upgraded stereo with an amp behind the drivers seat. The front suspension features sway-away race runner adjustable coils and nitrogen filled shocks. They are adjustable. Upgraded upper and lower control arms, and spindles but i don't know the brand. Has a prerunner bumper and a frame rail connector bolted underneath. There are no bulbs in the off road lights. Out back is a custom cradle, racerunner adjustable rear shocks and spare tire mount. I believe the rear springs are stock units, please look at the pics maybe somebody can correct me. It drives great, the rear suspension rides closer to a stock truck and it seems its set up for street use. Matching alloy wheels, the front falken A/T tires are 90% and it will need rear tires soon. There is no rear bumper. The body is in good shape there are a couple minor dents and scratches here and there. This is a great truck to drive everyday and go have fun on the weekends, or something to continue building on. I have included alot of pictures below. If there are any questions please feel free to call or message. 916 792 1645. Being sold as-is where is. DLR#15955. Ford F-150 Raptor gets EcoBoost V6, new chassis and aluminum body [w/videos]

Mon, Jan 12 2015

The Autoblog staff universally loves the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, and the truck's about to get even better. Coming in the fall of 2016 (we'd assume as a 2017 model), the next off-road-ready pickup from Ford will boast an all-new, purpose-built, high-strength steel frame and a lightweight aluminum body that saves more than 500 pounds when compared to the current Raptor. It's six inches wider overall than the regular 2015 F-150, which both makes it look awfully mean but also aids in stability when driving fast off the road, and new LED lighting elements make it stand out when the sun goes dim. Under the Raptor's muscular hood will be a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that will make more than the current 6.2-liter V8's 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque, though we don't have exact power figures for the next-gen Raptor quite yet. Also new will be a 10-speed automatic transmission, which will replace the current six-speed unit and ought to provide appropriate ratios for both rock crawling and high-speed desert trail running. Speaking of high-speed running, what makes the Raptor tick, perhaps more than any other single component, are its custom-designed suspension bits. Redesigned, larger Fox Racing Shocks with more suspension travel and all-new terrain management technology, combined with BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, are the bits and pieces that allow for Baja-style off-roading. View 14 Photos The four-wheel-drive system in the next-gen Raptor will include a Terrain Management with settings for Normal driving, Street driving, Weather mode (for rain, snow or ice), Mud and Sand, Baja mode and Rock mode. According to Ford, the Raptor's new transfer case is designed to work as both a locking unit for crawling and a full-time unit for other off-road applications. A Torsen front differential will be optional. Basically, if all of this new stuff turns out to be as good in practice as it sounds in a press release, the next F-150 Raptor will only serve to separate Ford's off-road pickup even further from its half-hearted competitors. Ford previews updated Police Interceptor Utility for Chicago debut

Tue, Feb 3 2015

With more law enforcement agencies across the United States alone than we'd care to count (or ever encounter), selling police cars means big business for American automakers, with Ford, Chevy and Dodge competing to fill the motorpools of every police department, sheriff's office and government agency in the land. For its part, Ford offers the Taurus-based Police Interceptor sedan and the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility, and it's preparing to unveil a revised version of the latter at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show in the same city where it's built. Dearborn hasn't given us much to go on with this teaser, showing just a darkened front shot of the vehicle in question with its emergency lighting all aglow. But it's fairly clear that the Interceptor Utility has been given many of the same updates applied recently to the Explorer on which it's based. That starts with the revised sheet metal, but considering that the Interceptor Utility exclusively packs V6 power, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four that was one of the biggest updates to the civilian Explorer isn't likely to carry over. Ford does, however, promise that the revised Police Interceptor Utility will be "even better" than the model it replaces" and pack "more high-tech features." Related Video:

2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor vs. 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon: How they compare on paper

Tue, Jan 21 2020

(Editor's Note: Due to inconsistencies in manufacturer reporting methods for ground clearance, an earlier version of this article stated the Ram Power Wagon's "ground clearance" to be 14.3 inches when in fact that is its "running clearance," which is deemed the ground to the lowest point of the truck MINUS the axles. The numbers below now reflect true ground clearance, or the ground to the lowest point of the truck, period. The chart and text have been updated to show both measurements for maximum accuracy and clarity.) For several years, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon has been the unquestioned king of heavy duty off-roaders. But competition is coming, and some of the strongest is from the 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor. We decided to take a look at these trucks' specs and features to see how they compare in the realm of capability. The raw numbers are below along with some notes on each truck's unique features that go beyond the spec sheet. Off-road capability While both of these trucks boast impressive clambering abilities, each with particular strengths. The Super Duty Tremor earns points for better ground clearance and axle clearance, as well as approach angle. Some of the credit goes to the larger 35-inch tires and a shortened front air dam. On the other hand, the Power Wagon leads the Ford in departure angle, and in the ramp travel index. The latter is largely the result of the Power Wagon's electronically disconnecting sway bars, and for those unfamiliar, the ramp travel index measures articulation by having a truck drive one wheel up a ramp with the other on the ground. The farther the truck goes with the ground wheel in contact with the, well, ground, the better the score and the better the articulation. Numbers aren't everything, though. It's important to look at the equipment each truck offers, and things are closer, here, but the Ram still has an edge. Both feature off-road-friendly solid axles at both ends, but only the Power Wagon has fully locking differentials front and rear. The Tremor has a locking rear differential while the front is a limited-slip differential. The Power Wagon comes standard with a 12,000-pound integrated Warn winch, whereas such a winch is an option on the Tremor. The Tremor has its own unique features, though, including the 35-inch tires rather than the Ram's 33-inchers, and it has Ford's fancy off-road cruise control function called Trail Control. Both trucks have shocks and springs tuned for off-road use.
