Looking for the best Ranchero in existence?  You just found it.  This Ranchero in my opinion has got to be one of the rarest and most "original condition" 1965 Ford Ranchero's in the WORLD...period!

As far as I can tell, (and I have been looking at this car for the past 11 years) the paint is original, including the paint inside the bed. The bed tells the whole story on this GEM. It looks like its never been used.

I am the forth owner of this beauty. The three previous owners were all Falcon/Ranchero enthusiasts, so it has always been very very very well cared for.  The only reason the last owner sold this car was because is lost his left leg therefore he couldn't operate the clutch anymore. He debated converting it a automatic but knew that the true value of this rare ranchero is the fact that it is a factory equipped 4 speed, bucket seat car. They only made 990 of these babies in 1965. In addition, the dual side chrome strips with two tone original paint is very hard to find.

She runs and drives beautifully down the road. I purchased her 11 years ago out of Sacramento, CA and drove her home to Los Angeles (that's about 400 miles).  She purrs and handles like a dream. Since then, I have always garaged her, and taken her out for Sunday drives and car shows only. She has earned second place awards, typically only loosing out to a fully restored "frame off" contender. Most at the shows like the originality of this car and typically "drool" over her original condition.

Here is a list of features and upgrades:

X-brace under oil pan. Cross brace from shock tower to shock tower.

Rear sway bar, under differential.

1" rear lowering blocks, and front A-arms have been lowered. This gives it a better stance and helps the handling too.

Power Steering

Seats have been recovered with original style covers

Chrome plastic has been "re-chromed"...to perfection I might add

Gas filler cap has been moved to inside the bed. The original one is still in place and "wired" close so it wont come out.

"Black Plates" California plates.

"Original" fiberglass hinged bed tonneau cover

Front disc brakes

Dual exhaust

Factory spinner hub caps. Tire are in great condition, lots of tread.

Factory tach mounted on top of dash.

California Car Cover is included as well.

What does it need:

I might go ahead and change the carpet. It's not bad, its just no perfect. It's wearing thin in a few spots.

Petersen Museum celebrates 50 years of Ford Mustang with special exhibit

Mon, May 5 2014

If you're a pony-car enthusiast, this is your year. Not only has Ford introduced an all-new Mustang, but it's also the 50th anniversary of the original. Celebrations and commemorations have been scheduled throughout the year, and not the least of them is the latest exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Called "Mustangs Forever: 50 Years of a Legend", the exhibit includes Mustangs from every generation of the iconic pony car, including the 1965 convertible Ronald Reagan drove during his California gubernatorial campaign, a 1971 Mach 1 Cobra Jet, a 1974 Mustang II, 1993 SVT Cobra, 2000 Cobra R and a 2006 Shelby GT-H. Special sections focus on motorsports, aftermarket modifiers and limited-edition models. The display opened on Sunday with the Mustang Madness spectacular and will run for the next six months, but if you're not heading to Southern California within the coming half-year then you can scope out all the action in our live gallery of photos above.

2020 Chevy Silverado HD vs. 2019 Ram, Ford heavy duty trucks: How they compare on paper

Tue, Jan 15 2019

Last year was all about the latest in light-duty full-size pickup trucks, so this year, Ram, Ford and Chevy are launching the heavy-duty variants. The first out of the gate is the redesigned 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 HD, and Ram dropped all the pertinent specs with the reveal. Chevy followed with the new Silverado HD in Chicago, and Ford revealed updates to the Super Duty at the same show. Ford hasn't released details on output, payload capacity, towing capacity or pricing for the updated Super Duty. As such, we'll be comparing the current Super Duty with the all-new Silverado HD and Ram HD. Both Chevy and Ram have revealed full specs for each of their respective trucks, leaving out only pricing, which we've estimated based on the outgoing models. You can see the raw details in the chart below, followed by extra information and analysis. Some things to keep in mind: These specifications cover all versions of the Ram HD, Silverado HD and Super Duty, such as 2500 and 3500 models, and all the way up to F-450. Specifications can vary widely based on engine, drivetrain, cab and bed configurations, so be sure to take a close look at the specific model you're interested in when you get particularly serious about buying. And of course, be sure to check out our car comparison tool if you'd like to look at other trucks on the market. Engines and drivetrains All three of these trucks offer gasoline and diesel engines, but only the Ram has two versions of the diesel. Starting with gas engines, Ram's 6.4-liter V8 has the power advantage with 25 more horsepower than the next-most-potent Super Duty, but the new Silverado HD's 6.6-liter V8 takes the torque crown at 464 pound-feet, nearly 35 more than the other two gas engines. The Ram is also the only one to pair an eight-speed automatic with the gas engine, whereas the Ford and Chevy make do with a six-speed. With diesel engines, horsepower is a weak point for the Ram. The Ram's entry-level turbo 6.7-liter inline-six is the weakest, as the only one with under 900 pound-feet of torque and under 400 horsepower. Even the high-output version only makes 400 horsepower, while the Chevy makes 445 and the Ford 450. But the tables turn with torque, as the Ram makes a best-in-class 1,000 pound-feet followed by the Ford's 935 and the Chevy's 910. Both the Ram and the current Super Duty diesels each get a six-speed automatic, but the new Silverado HD's diesel gets a 10-speed unit.

Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).
