Up for sale is a 1988 Ford Mustang LX convertible, with a 2.3 L Over Head Camshaft, OHC, 4 cylinder engine with a 3 speed automatic transmission, milage showing 11,156 mi.

A little history of this car:

I purchased this vehicle from original owner in apprx 1991 or 92, It was fairly low milage as I remember. In apprx. 1998 or 99, we sold it to my husbands parents, his mothers really, she adored it until her death about 10 months ago. She owned and operated it for over 15 years, the last 5 to 8 years saw little mileage. We have no real knowledge of its mechanical condition and or issues . Other than the occasional verbal" I HAD TO DO THIS " or "I HAD TO DO THAT" to the car last week.. After my husband and I scrutinized some of the reciepts she kept, it becomes clear, her highly regarded 'great' mechanics had taken her to the cleaners. What an injustice for grown men to take advantage of an old woman.

The following is our ( my husbands ) honest evaluation from driving it around town a couple of times, he is a carpenter, not a mechanic. One of the last times she drove it, which was just a few months before her death, she kinda cut the corner a bit tight into her garage, see pics of passenger door, the damage is contained to the door. The front and rear panels did not sustain any damage, mirror will need replacing on that door. Both tail lights are broken, red tape applied and passed DMV inspection. Front end will probably need some work, the car drifts a bit, but not difficult to steer. What this means is if you come over driving a newer model honda and get into this car it will feel odd steering, you get used to it after a bit, his Mother thought it was as it should be. Front tires are bald, hold air, need replacing, back tires apprx 50%. Interior is faded and has a few holes here n there. The seat covers are a little worn as well, but will come with the car. The converible top was fairly new, but a disgruntled tenant took a knife to it in a few places. My husband and his brother patched it with vinyl clad canvas, rubber goods, and butyl caulking compound, it does not leak, now or ever. The rear window is glass, not plastic. The front headlight lenses are starting to yellow, need buffing. Paint is good for its age, many small imperfections thruout, could use a good buffing.

 Drivetrain;

 The car starts quite easily, even after extended periods of not being started, it is cold blooded, needs to be warmed up thuroughly before it runs and shifts correctly. It could probably use a tuneup. Blows a poof of smoke when started 1st time in the morning, but appears to go away in a matter of seconds, it does not smoke when running, only when starting first time. Transmition seems to work as intended, no funny sounds or smells, same with rear end. Tranny was rebuilt on 2-19-04, milage was 91940, work done by BE SANTA ROSA TRANSMITIONS, 1015 Santa Rosa Ave, Santa Rosa, CA. 954304 at a cost of $1449.70, all reciepts included. New starter 8-09. New alternator 10-09. Front and rear brakes 12-08. New muffler 5-08. Battery is fairly new as well as the radiator. It brakes well. No rust anywhere. Per my earlier reference of having difficulty retaining our verbage when editing, it has come to our attention that some is still missing, it is as follows;

We highly recommend you either come inspect this vehicle yourself, or hire a mechanic to do so for you. We will gladly work with you on this. Please give as much advance as possible, contact us for any info you may need. We consider this vehicle a project car, even though one can just get in and drive, its a little rough around the edges, looks pretty good at 10 feet or so. It needs some fixing and tuning to be a great driver. I believe most issues have been described above to the best of our ability. Its a fun little car to drive.

Additional items included with sale,

A leather bra, condition unknown. It looks OK, but am unsure.

A carpeted dash cover, greyish in color.

A foil foldout for in front of wind shied, inside car.

2015 Ford F-150 to get up to 26 miles per gallon

Fri, Nov 21 2014

The 2015 Ford F-150 is one of the most important US vehicle debuts in years, be it in the pickup segment or the entire marketplace. While we've already known about the truck's engine lineup, its payload ratings and we've even learned a bit about how it drives, the truck's EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings have remained a mystery. The wait is finally over. Ford has announced numbers that put the latest F-150 as the mileage leader among gasoline-powered, full-size pickups in the US, with its new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 topping the charts. Starting with the entry-level naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6, the rear-wheel-drive F-150 is rated at 18-miles-per-gallon city, 25-mpg highway and 20-mpg combined. Opting for four-wheel drive drops those numbers slightly to 17/23/19. If fuel economy is your absolute priority, then upgrading to the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 is the hot ticket. It improves things further to 19/26/22 in rear-wheel drive trim or 18/23/20 with four-wheel drive. The carryover naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 is rated at 15/22/18 as a 4X2 or 15/21/17 as a 4X4. Finally, the flagship 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 tops the range in available torque and offers buyers 17/24/20 ratings with rear-wheel drive or 17/23/19 with four-wheel drive. "We are delivering with the toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 ever – and now the highest EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of any full-size gas-powered pickup in America," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, in the company's announcement. Depending on engine and drivetrain configuration, Ford contends that the 2.7-liter EcoBoost's top rating puts fuel economy up between 5 and 29 percent over the current generation, thanks in large part to the truck's lighter aluminum construction. Obviously, these are EPA estimates, and your mileage may vary – ours has. Recently, Autoblog team members have had real difficulty even approximating government mpg estimates on many EcoBoost models, including the new F-150. Ford pits Cobra Jet versus GRC Fiesta ST, worlds collide

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

Racing takes on many forms in the automotive world. There are sanctioned events that are as varied and diverse as NASCAR, Formula One, Global Rallycross and drag racing, and to be good enough to win competitively in one discipline, you need to have a specialized vehicle. Or do you?
Ford decided to find out what would happen when its Global Rallycross Fiesta ST, driven by Tanner Foust, lined up against its Mustang Cobra Jet drag racer, driven by Roy Hill. In one lane, Tanner has just 2.0 liters of displacement to work with, while Roy has more than double that, at 5.0 liters. Evening the playing field a bit, Tanner has a massive turbocharger and all-wheel drive; Roy has to filter all his supercharged power through the rear wheels only.
So, who wins? We suggest you see for yourself in the press release and video below. And we're holding out hope that Tanner's challenge at the end results in another video from Ford Racing...

Mulally wanted to kill Lincoln as late as last year, Fields vows to turn it around

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

Lincoln fans might want to give incoming Ford CEO Mark Fields a pat on the back for having a hand in saving the brand from the chopping block last year. He's among the people spearheading the rejuvenation of the division away from its stodgy image to appeal to younger customers.
According to two unnamed sources speaking to Bloomberg, CEO Alan Mulally was ready to kill Lincoln last year. Following the slow production ramp-up of the MKZ combined a with a costly ad campaign, Mulally was frustrated and openly suggested dropping the brand. However, Fields and Jim Farley, Ford's marketing boss, convinced the CEO that the brand was worth saving. They also created a plan to prevent similar problems for new models in the future.
It seems that one part of the strategy may involve waiting until new models are at dealers before starting a big ad campaign for them. Lincoln global director, Matt VanDyke, recently told Autoblog that the division is holding off on a full marketing push behind the new MKC crossover to prevent the supply problems that plagued the MKZ last year. Its big offensive begins in the fall when the CUVs are at all of the dealers and consumers are at home watching more TV. VanDyke also told Bloomberg that Fields, Farley and Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, have more direct oversight over new product launches now.
