You are looking at an auction for a 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra coupe.
This amazing car features a DOHC 4.6 liter supercharged V8. Power is transmitted through a Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission. Stock hp was underrated at 390. With the mods listed below, this car has around 450 horsepower.
This was my daily driver for 5 years and I purchased it with 38k miles and now it has 91k. Car has been stored in garage with an occasional start for the last 1.5 years).
I drove to school almost every weekday and it was 75% highway driving. The car has never been raced and was never beaten up on. Being my daily driver, I never wanted to take a risk and take it to the track.
Oil has been changed every 3k miles and I have used Mobil 1 synthetic since I owned the car.
Tires are 275/40R17 all around. Two are Fuzion Zri and two are Sumitomo HTRZ. Tires have around 7000 miles on them.
The car was modded a little and was all done before I bought it (except for the clutch and stereo). Mods are as follows:
- 2.93" supercharger pulley
- Flowmaster catback exhaust
- Densecharger cold-air intake
- Spec stage II clutch kit (15k miles ago)
- Dual CD Receiver w/ bluetooth and iPod connectivity
- CDT Audio component speakers all the way around with MB Quart 4-channel amplifier
- Redtop Optima battery (2 years ago)
New parts and completed maintenance:
- New alternator from Autozone (has about 5 miles on it)
- New headlights w/ xenon bulbs (Just installed before this listing)
- Eaton Supercharger oil change (20k miles ago)
- Engine and intercooler coolant (10k miles ago)
- Intercooler electric water pump (10k miles ago)
- Transmission fluid change (15k miles ago)
- Differential fluid change (40k miles ago)
- Brake pads and rotors (10k miles ago)
I am a mechanically inclined person so this car was has been maintained well and runs almost flawlessly.
The main issue with this vehicle is the paint. With all the highway driving I did, the car experienced a few paint chips and love bug damage. The plastic components are also experiencing some fading. I tried to fix some of the chips myself and did not do too well.
This car will need a new paint job and I received a quote from Maaco for a base/clear with all the chip repairs and sealant for 1500.
Here is a list of the issues with this car:
- Needs paint job to repair chips and fading (see pics)
- 1.5" crack/tear in bottom of front bumper cover (pictured)
- 3rd brake light is cracked on each side. This is a common issue with these cars. I have the vinyl repair cover ready to be installed. This will make it look like new without replacing the light. This light is still moisture free.
- AC clutch squeaks every so often when AC is on. Cold air still blows. Most likely a bearing or clutch issue. A bearing is $14 and clutch is around $90.
- Clutch pedal has a small section of the rubber missing on the left side
This is a great car and very fun to drive. I wish I could paint it and keep it myself, but I would like to purchase a home.
Car is located in Largo, FL (near Clearwater and Tampa). Pickup is preferred but buyer-paid shipping is an option as well.

Which is more fuel efficient, driving with a pickup's tailgate up or down?
Tue, 26 Aug 2014
Thanks to the smoke wand in the wind tunnel, you can actually see the difference in our video.
Should you drive with your pickup truck's tailgate up or down? It's an age-old controversy that's divided drivers for decades. Traditionalists will swear you should leave the tailgate down. Makes sense, right? It would seem to let the air flow more cleanly over the body and through the bed. But there's also a school of thought that argues trucks are designed to look and operate in a specific manner, and modern design techniques can help channel the airflow properly. So don't mess with all of that: Leave the tailgate up.
Ford also opening up EV, hybrid patents, with a price tag
Fri, May 29 2015Like Tesla and Toyota before it, Ford is seeing the light when it comes to freeing up alternative powertrain patents. Of course, the Blue Oval does things differently, so free doesn't mean no cost. Instead of making its electric vehicle patents simply available to anyone, Ford is going to sell off its EV tech for an unspecified fee. Ford says it has 650 electrified vehicle patents and another 1,000 or so pending EV tech patent applications. Ford filed 400 such applications last year alone. To buy these patents, interested parties should contact Ford's technology commercialization and licensing office or work AutoHarvest. Or, you know, you could just go get Tesla patents for free. The jury is still out on whether these open patent programs are being used. The Tesla program, for example, didn't seem to be all that exciting to most OEMs right after it was announced. Ford has six vehicles with some sort of electrified powertrain: the Focus Electric, Fusion Hybrid and Energi PHEV, Ford C-MAX Hybrid and Energi plug-in hybrid and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The only full EV in that group, the Focus Electric, starts at $29,995. Ford Opens Portfolio of Patented Technologies to Competitors to Accelerate Industry-Wide Electrified Vehicle Development Ford is opening its portfolio of electrified vehicle technology patents to competitive automakers to accelerate industry-wide research and development of electrified vehicles In 2014, Ford filed for 400-plus electrified vehicle patents – more than 20 percent of the total patents the company applied for last year Ford is set to hire an additional 200 electrified vehicle engineers this year as the team moves into a newly dedicated facility – Ford Engineering Laboratories – home to Henry Ford's first laboratories DEARBORN, Mich., May 28, 2015 – Ford Motor Company is offering competitors access to its electrified vehicle technology patents – a move to help accelerate industry-wide research and development of electrified vehicles. In 2014, Ford filed more than 400 patents dedicated to electrified vehicle technologies. This is more than 20 percent of the patents the company filed – totaling more than 2,000 applications. "Innovation is our goal," said Kevin Layden, director, Ford Electrification Programs. "The way to provide the best technology is through constant development and progress.
Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is a lean, mean, Z/28-fighting machine [w/video]
Mon, 17 Nov 2014If there's one thing you can count on, it's that the renewed rivalry between the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro will never, ever cease. For every version of Ford's pony car, there's an equally potent Chevrolet. And so with the debut of the Camaro Z/28 earlier this year, Ford has responded with a track-focused 'Stang of its own, resurrecting the Shelby GT350 name.
It looks to be a fine piece of work, this Mustang, with power coming from a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 that will produce "more than 500 horsepower" and "above 400" pound-feet of torque. That grunt runs to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, and a Torsen limited-slip differential keeps everything in line.
But that's hardly the most impressive piece of the GT350 puzzle. Ford has increased the Mustang GT's chassis stiffness for duty here in the Shelby, and the coupe employs MagneRide damping which automatically adjusts based on road conditions and driver inputs. It's a first both for the Blue Oval and for the segment. And speaking of firsts, the GT350 uses a flat-plane crankshaft - something Ford has never included in a production V8 before.
