Up for sale is a very rare Boss 351 Mustang. This car was previously owned by a doctor from North Carolina who was also a Mustang/Shelby collector. He and his son purchased this Boss 351 in the early 90’s. The restoration was complete including full engine, transmission, and rear-end rebuild. The engine was sent to Eddie Vaughn Eddies Machine shop for complete & correct rebuild. The engine bay is correct including parts paint, markings, etc.

The restoration did include upgrades such as paint, suspension, wheels & tires, dash lights, and seats as follows: (the owner built the car to drive)

Paint is 2011 Mustang Alloy Silver (original color was white)

Wheels are American Racing VN427 Shelby Cobra Wheels with BF Goodrich g-force radials (front 255/45ZR17 and rear 275/40ZR17) … longer wheel studs added

4-Wheel Disc Brakes added

Polyurethane bushings added, longer sway bar links, traction bars added, larger front traction bar, 2-inch rear lowering blocks. (the car drives and handles very well)

Upgraded front adjustable seats (factory look)

Upper dash panel painted white with LED lights with sound deadener behind dash panel

Factory AM/8-track stereo radio still in dash but non-working

The restoration was extensive with no expense spared and this rare R-code Boss 351 is one of the best running, driving, and handling cars that I have had and I have had a lot of muscle cars.

Total Number of 1971 BOSS 351 Mustangs manufactured: 1,806
Total Number of 1971 BOSS 351 Mustangs located to date: 591
23 are located outside of the US
(Disclaimer: these numbers are a couple of years old, could be a little different now)

The 1971 Boss 351 Mustang was the last of the true muscle cars of the era. It replaced both the Boss 302 and Boss 429 from the previous two years as the performance Mustang in 1971. The Boss 351 Cleveland engine stocked 330 horsepower and featured a four-bolt main block, large port cylinder heads and valves, a solid lifter camshaft, an 11.7:1 compression ratio and aluminum valve covers. Also, standard on the Boss 351 was Ram Air, 3.91:1 rear axle with Traction-Lok, Competition suspension, four-speed manual transmission, power front disc brakes, front spoiler, lower body side paint treatment and Boss 351 decals in place of the Mach 1 decals. The Boss 351 had much better low-end response than the previous Boss 302 and Boss 429 models, and its equal weight distribution made for better handling as well as better braking…
Boss 351: The Quickest Pony in the Stable
How could a 351ci V-8 of 1971 grab bragging rights over the likes of 428 Cobra Jets and Boss 429s of the ’68-’70 muscle car era? In the pantheon of early Ford Mustangs, muscle car cognoscenti place the ’71 Boss 351 at the pinnacle for e.t.’s through the quarter-mile.

Bob Perkins, the world’s foremost authority on Boss Mustangs and widely regarded as the best Mustang restorer anywhere, concurs. “I’d put my money on the Boss 351,” he says when asked of the top quarter-mile Mustang of the ’64½-’73 generation, provided those cars—Boss 429, 428 Cobra Jet, and Boss 351—were geared the same.

Then he tosses another muscle Mustang into the fray, a ’71 429 Super Cobra Jet with a set of optional 4.11 or 4.30 gears in its 9-inch differential. This frightening muscle machine, Perkins feels, would finish ahead of all other stock first-generation Mustangs, but second to the Boss 351.

Ford upgrade kit takes Focus ST to 275 hp and 296 lb-ft

Mon, Aug 17 2015

If you drive a 2015 Ford Focus ST but are already jealous of the 345-horsepower 2016 Focus RS that's on the horizon, Ford Performance has a new upgrade kit that could be a great compromise. Developed by the Blue Oval experts at Mountune, the MP275 setup takes the hot hatch's output to 275 hp and 296 pound-feet of torque when running on 93-octane fuel. Those are gains of 23 hp and 26 lb-ft, respectively. Providing much of the kit's extra oomph is a recalibrated ECU with more aggressive engine mapping. The company claims that the upgrade also improves throttle response, and it keeps the Focus ST 50-state emissions legal. In addition, customers get a Mountune high-flow intercooler, a new air intake, and all of the necessary hardware to mount the components in the engine bay. For those concerned about reliability, when an authorized Ford Performance technician installs the parts, the Focus maintains the factory warranty. The MP275 kit currently retails for $1,900 on the Ford Performance website. For added protection during harsh weather, customers can also get an end cap for the cone air filter for $15. And on that front, the new Focus ST mountune upgrade kit delivers in spades. The idea of a street-legal, reliable, largely stock 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making nearly 300 lb.-ft. of torque might have seemed ludicrous 10 years ago, but the components of the MP275 Focus ST performance upgrade not only combine to produce up to 296 lb.-ft. of torque with 93-octane fuel, they are designed for maximum reliability as well. "The 2015 Focus ST MP275 upgrade is the latest addition to Ford Performance's vast Focus and Fiesta performance catalog that gives enthusiasts the components they need to take their car to the next level," said Adam Gair, product manager, Ford Performance.

Mopar Hellephant is sold out, but here are 4 other awesome crate V8s to try

Mon, May 6 2019

Despite a relatively enormous $30,000 price tag, Mopar's 1,000-horsepower supercharged Hellephant crate engine sold out in just 48 hours. Some enthusiasts may have missed out on the crazy engine due to lack of funds, or they just assumed there would still be some Hellephants down the line. But worry not, swap-happy gearheads. There are plenty of V8s in the world to pick from, and we highlighted four favorites. They're not as powerful, but they're all cheaper, and still have a lot to offer. Mopar 6.2L Hellcrate Odds are a lot of prospective Hellephant buyers were Mopar fans to begin with, so we'll start the list with the next-most-potent offering: the Hellcrate. This is the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found under the hood of the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcats and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque like those cars, too. It's also about $10,000 cheaper than the Hellephant engine at $20,020, and that leftover money can be used to finish the project or for aftermarket upgrades to get it closer to the Hellephant's output. GM LS9 6.2L The Hellcrate isn't the only factory supercharged crate engine on the market. From General Motors comes the supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8. This is the engine that was used in the C6 Corvette ZR1. At 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque, it doesn't make as much power or torque as the Hellcrate. But it does boast a dry sump oil system. So instead of pumping oil out of a pan at the bottom, the engine uses an oil tank mounted remotely that pumps oil into the engine. This means the engine is shorter overall, and can be mounted lower for a better center of gravity. It also means that there's almost no risk of running the engine dry in hard cornering, as could happen with a normal oil sump where the oil can slosh to the side without the oil pump. Basically, it offers some major benefits if you want supercharged V8 power for a road course car. It's also a tad cheaper than the Hellcrate at $18,149. But get one while you can, because GM is only selling what's left from when it was building the C6 ZR1. Ford Aluminator 5.2XS Our pick from the Blue Oval lacks a supercharger, but it's still pretty sweet.

Ford recalls 422,000 SUVs for rear view camera display that may fail

Thu, May 18 2023

WASHINGTON — Ford is recalling 422,000 sport utility vehicles in the U.S. because the video output may fail, preventing the rear view camera image from displaying. The recall covers 2020 through 2023 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair SUVs with a 360-degree camera. The recall expands and replaces prior Ford callbacks for the same issue in 2021 and 2023. Ford last year updated the image processing module (IPMB) software in an effort to address the issue. Ford said on Thursday it is "working together with suppliers to identify root cause and provide the correct remedy as quickly as possible". The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the loss of the rear view camera image can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 26. Last year, Ford said it had reports of 17 minor crashes relating to the recall issue and more than 2,100 warranty reports but no reports of injuries. The NHTSA in August 2021 opened an investigation after Ford in 2020 recalled 620,246 vehicles for another rear camera issue. The investigation is reviewing if Ford had recalled the vehicles in a timely fashion and if it recalled enough vehicles. Recalls Ford Lincoln Crossover SUV
