This was my daughter’s daily driver for 6 years. She drove it through part of high school and all of college. It's been a very dependable car, I only had to rescue her once when it died with a loose electrical connection. She bought a new car, and is grudgingly parting with her baby now! Here are the details: There's no rust underneath! The car was built in San Jose, CA, we bought it from a guy in Mabank, TX, who bought it from a guy in New Mexico.  Pretty sure it's been in the southern US it's whole life.  It was painted in July 2011. The paint is really nice, there are very few nicks or dings in it. I had the motor professionally rebuilt in December 2008, it was driven about 10000 miles since the rebuild. Haven't had any issues with it at all. It has an Edelbrock carb, aluminum intake and headers. It was rebuilt with a mild "stage 1" cam. It sounds great, and doesn't have any driveability issues. It's a factory A/C car, I replaced the factory compressor with a Sandeen compressor a few years back and filled with it with R134. It cools well, but it won't freeze you out in 100 degree heat! I replaced all the power steering parts in December 2012. I just got through installing upper A-frames, lower control arms (both A-frames and control arms came with new bushings and ball joints), spring mounts, outer tie rod ends and shocks in April 2013. I had the front end professionally aligned and checked out after all that work. I installed new brake shoes in February 2013. I put in sub frame connectors several years ago to help make the car a little stronger and safer. I also installed a metal plate between the rear seat and the trunk, another safety feature. The front leather seats are from 94 Mustang Cobra, high backs for safety too! These were all installed because my daughter was driving it! The 17” wheels from my 2005 Mustang. The stereo is an iPod controllable Pioneer with a subwoofer and front “kick panel” speakers.  Still sounds pretty good, too!

Of course there is no warranty on the car.  You'll have to work out the shipping details, but I'll be glad to meet your carrier at the Walmart down the street! If you have any questions, send me an email through eBay and I'll answer them promptly!

Trucks, SUVs drive U.S. October new vehicle sales

Wed, Nov 1 2017

DETROIT — Major automakers posted mixed U.S. new vehicle sales in October on Wednesday, though America's love affair with high-margin pickup trucks and SUVs remained in full bloom as larger, pricier vehicles fared better than passenger cars. Auto industry publication WardsAuto put the seasonally-adjusted annualized rate (SAAR) for light vehicle sales in October at a robust level of 18 million units. But after a long boom cycle, carmakers are still ill-prepared for the slight decline in sales anticipated for full-year 2017 and have taken too few steps to trim production, said Doug Mehl, a partner in consultancy A.T. Kearney's automotive practice. "When you make a new vehicle, you have volume assumptions tagged to it, and who wants to be the guy who says, 'I'm going to make less of this really cool model'?" Mehl said. "But eventually the market is the reality, and it's going to force companies one way or other here." General Motors GM reported a sales drop of 2.2 percent for the month, with consumer sales down 6.6 percent. But sales of high-margin pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles and crossovers all rose. GM also cut its inventory of unsold vehicles — a source of concern for the market — slightly. The automaker has worked to reduce its volume of excess inventory, including through significant production shutdowns in the third quarter. GM had said its inventory would rise in October. "We are heading into the fourth quarter with good momentum, thanks to a strong U.S. economy and very strong pickup and crossover sales," said Kurt McNeil, GM vice president for U.S. sales operations. GM slightly reduced consumer discounts as a percentage of average transaction prices to 13.5 percent, from 13.7 percent in the third quarter. Industry experts believe consumer discounts above 10 percent of the average transaction price are unhealthy as they erode resale values and are unsustainable in the long term. Consultants J.D. Power and LMC said last week that based on preliminary October sales numbers, discounts have exceeded 10 percent in 15 of the past 16 months. Ford The U.S. auto industry posted record sales of 17.55 million vehicles in 2016. New sales received a strong boost in September as consumers replaced vehicles damaged in southeast Texas by Hurricane Harvey the previous month. Full-year 2017 sales are expected to be slightly lower than 2016.

2015 Fisker-Galpin Rocket Quick Spin [w/video]

Fri, Aug 21 2015

There is no shortage of fast Mustangs these days. Roush and Saleen will tune your ordinary 'Stang into something really special. Ford itself offers hot coupes like the new Shelby GT350. Don't even get me started on the endless aftermarket catalogs full of bolt-on whats-its and performance upgrades. Standing out within the huge crowd of tuned Mustangs is hard to do. But you'll definitely notice this one. "I always wanted to do a Mustang," Henrik Fisker told me as we walked toward his latest creation, the Rocket, parked outside the Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach, CA. The man knows a thing or two about design, after all. He penned the BMW Z8, as well as the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage. But this Rocket is, well, ugly. The rear end isn't totally terrible, and those 21-inch wheels are sort of cool, but taken as a whole, it looks like it swallowed something it doesn't like the taste of. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder – or perhaps, the creator – so we'll let Mr. Fisker explain why the car looks the way it does. See the video below for his brief design walkaround. If you can get past the looks, there's a world of performance to unleash, thanks to the boys at Galpin Auto Sports – the same folks responsible for the GTR1 I drove last year. The Mustang's 5.0-liter V8 gets a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger that improves output to 725 horsepower (the torque figure isn't available), and the car's suspension has been thoroughly reworked to help put all that grunt to the ground. It's very good, yet very familiar. Let me explain. Driving Notes Like the stock Mustang, it's really easy to drive. The car fires up with a growl, you move the shifter into first gear, and the action of engagement is as solid as it is in the normal 5.0-liter car. Both the clutch and throttle have a progressive action, so it's super easy to launch the Rocket (sorry). Once you get going, there's a ton of power to unleash. It doesn't smack you in the face right up front, though – the power delivery is smooth and linear. Easy to manage, too, thanks to that slick six-speed manual transmission. Credit Ford (and Getrag) for making a manual that's able to handle so much extra grunt. That said, the Rocket feels like your typical fast Mustang. It goes like hell in a straight line and there isn't a ton of steering feel. Galpin retuned the electronic power-assisted steering, but it's still too light considering the added power of the car.
