Description: 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 2x2 in excellent condition with no rust. A San Jose, CA Ford factory built
Fastback which spent most of its time in Texas and California. It has its original 289 engine and transmission
with a 4 bbl Holley carburetor, 8 quart oil pan with cobra valve covers, deluxe pony seat interior with pistol grip
door handles, drivers side adjustable mirror and working dealer installed original A/C unit and 8 track cassette
player. Currently I have an Mp3-Ipod player in the glove box connected to the dash speaker but it can easily be
converted back to the 8 track cassette player. In the last 2 years the mustang was rebuild with a new Holley
carburetor, water pump, thermostat, electric fan with new aluminum radiator, alternator, universal joint, rear end
rebuilt by Currie with 3.25 gears, Wilwood vented front disc brakes, new rear drums, front springs, front and rear
KYB shocks, new interior carpet and center console, rally pac, new dash pad and interior door lamps and headliner.
All mechanical work was performed by professional speed shop and I have receipts. The interior is black with no
rips or tears in the front/rear seats or headliner.
I had the fastback painted in ivy metallic green 2 years ago and it looks fantastic, no dings dents or cracks in
the paint. The exterior trim pieces over the rocker panels, front grille with pony and 2x2 emblems on the sides are
also new. The front and rear turning signals are new and the fastback was previously fitted with GT fog lamps and
rear valance with exhaust fluted ports. There are 15x7 new rally rims with BF Goodrich T/A tires that have less
then 750 miles on them. I had new exhaust, muffles and elite headers installed a little over a year ago.
All of the dash gauges, tachometer/clock and lights including fog lamps work with the exception of the ten
thousand's dial of the odometer which I noticed recently did not turn over from 6 to 7 to indicate 70,000 miles.
All of the other odometer number dials are working. In addition the dash lights for the fuel and water gauges
appear somewhat dim at night when you turn the lights on. The exterior head lights, fog lights and
turn/brake/reverse signals front and rear work perfectly.
There are No Warranties express or implied. The Car is being sold As Is.

The big dune jump and the damage done

Mon, 20 May 2013

The Silver Lake sand dunes see their fair share of well-built trophy trucks executing impressive jumps. Drivers build insane pieces of machinery for the express purpose of sailing through the air like mad men and women.
Mike Higgins is no stranger to the area. His heavily modified Ford trophy truck has gone flying through the sky on more than one occasion, but he recently bit off more than he could chew. After hitting a particularly lofty dune, Higgins went airborne for a ridiculous 180 feet before becoming intimately familiar with the finer points of gravity.
While Higgins nailed the jump, his landing fell short of wowing the judges. The impact very nearly broke his truck in two. Despite the mechanical mayhem, the driver walked away without a scratch, proving that occasionally miracles really do happen. You can check out the jump and the subsequent destruction below for yourself. Be warned: there's a fair bit of foul language.

Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."

Next Ford Raptor spotted wearing aluminum skin

Wed, 07 May 2014

Well, look at what we have here. Judging from these spy shots, Ford is indeed working on the next generation of its off-road-ready F-150 Raptor pickup truck. We've made no attempt to hide our appreciation for the Baja-style truck, which combines most of the usability of a fullsize truck with heavy-duty suspension components to make a kind of performance vehicle that is unique in the market.
What we haven't known, until now, is whether Ford would push forward with its Raptor program now that it has a completely new F-150 to serve as its base. And that's especially true since Ford made the bold move of switching the bodywork of its best-seller from tried-and-true steel to aluminum. As you can see above, the front and rear of this silver truck are clad in current-gen Raptor bodywork, while the center section that houses the occupants appears to come from the upcoming 2015 F-150.
Dissecting the views above, we note a few interesting tidbits. First, there looks to be a bulge in the truck's hood. Second, we see a new grille between the current Raptor's headlights, sporting a mesh finish and two horizontal bars. Lastly, our eyes can't help but lock in on those burly A-arm suspension pieces down below, not to mention all that ground clearance the specialty suspenders bring to the table.
